Kromowidjojo, already gold at 100m freestyle (with lightyears ahead of competition) now .4 faster than the nr2 in the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle.
Thats... LOL. Again a lightyear ahead
Only a bad day can hold her from a 2nd gold. |

Only .01 slower than Olympic record as well.
(Although after at least swimming and track, noone seems to give a damn about shitty OR's anymore )

Swimming has been ruined by records with super swim suits. They should've deleted all those records.
Especially at 50/100m these records are almost unbeatable |

Does that advantage due to the "super swim suits" also apply to women's swimming? Because they seem to break records far too easily.

ofcourse it applies. But you have to remember these are the olympic games and in swimming that's the highest you can achieve, unlike cycling, tennis etc where it's something nice to top off your career, but not much more.
So they train very specifically for that moment.
Most of the current records have been set in world ch. in between... so the peak was less (but material better) |

I kinda agree that they should have been deleted, but I also see why they don't.
Some of those records was set only because of the suits, but what about those who had the race of their lives, and would have beaten the record even with the textile suits? Those may be swimmers who were in the best shape ever, and may have been at the peak of their careers. It would not be fair.

I meant not as extreme, as the surface of the swimsuit didn't change in contrary to the mens.
Still I feel it's a bit strange to see 16 year old newcomer girls just fall short of WR's day after day.

What a basketball match between the British and French women. 67:67 with 5.7 seconds to go after France scored 3 points.

I don't think they're going to remove the skinsuits records (though I'd like them to). It seems skinsuits will be allowed again, pretty soon, but with slightly different materials (no polyurethane, most likely). Skinsuits manufacturers are putting too much pressure on FINA, etc. to have them back. |

the thing is with the previous new skinsuits technique became almost non-important. With the fast suits it was mostly power that mattered and swimmers who were good because of their technique as well suddenly lost places to average/decent swimmers who profited from the new suits. |

18 year old Adam Gemili is a big talent.. looked really good against the mighty Asafa Powell, even though he was focusing on professional football until January this year! And Dwain Chambers surprised with a very good run too.
Anyway Personally I'm hoping for a Jamaica 1-2-3 tomorrow |
