Chapeau to Van Aert, top-5 in both green and polka dot jerseys and 3 stage wins of a kind. Impressive.
Plus, another top-20 in the GC. |

one rider wins a double Ventoux stage, a 30 km time trail and the Champs-Elysee stage, we've fully gone off any sort of logical sense and I love it
It is actually logical when the tour doesn't have a dominant GC focused team. |

WVA is absolutely incredible. Horrible misplays from DQS all day today, and disappointed in the loss for Cav, but WVA might be one of the most impressive riders I've ever seen.

Chapeau Cav, but Mercx is still the greatest.
So ends an interesting tour.
I don't think anyone has ever stated that Cav is the Goat over Merckx? But whenever anyone matches a Merckx record it's noteworthy becayse Eddie is the absolute high-bar of cycling.
_______
Slight anti-climax coming to the Tour after watching the F1
Cav wasn't supposed to equal the record. He wasn't supposed to win another Green jersey a decade after his first. He wasn't supposed to win 4 stages in the Tour. He wasn't even supposed to be at this race!
The fact he did even one of those is miraculous. Mark has absolutely made my summer, and his post-race interviews have consistently put a smile on my face.
The man is a goddamn legend, and if he never comes back to the Tour, he went out as the record holder and on the podium in Paris. Fuck. Yes!

I was happy that Cav was able to make it back to the top and win in the TDF again. And now I'm happy that he didn't break the record.
Edit: Happy to see Greipel got a top 5. He clearly didn't have that top kick anymore, but he still ends his TDF career with a decent result.

Also Philipsen's sprints: 2, 3, 2, 3, 3, 2.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I think Cavendish doesn't always need to win in the sprint. Pogacar wins three jerseys. Actually there was relatively little tension today. |
