ICL17 - Race Discussion
Luxemburger
Geschke 4th in a cobbled race with strong competition is a major result, he really proved how good he is. Kern 13th is nice too.
Meanwhile tour of South Africa is an interesting read and race, Fuglsang should have it with the TT left. Good to see that he rides this CGT for me, one concurrent less for at least one of the other ones.

wow, Vanmarcke has a horrible season so far, I guess only a win at P-R can save his season now...

Bouhanni winning a sprint, but behind the breakaway. Stage five was oh so close, but I'm glad he finished second in the GC and won the points classification!

Fantastic win by Terpstra! Grin Kept thinking he was wasting all his energy but somehow he won! Turgot 10th and De Vreese 15th too is great. Smile Ster gave us a stage win and some surprisingly ok sprints from Terpstra so pretty happy with that as well. Smile Thanks Shonak!

What a lame finish, Degenkolb just wheelsucking his way to the sprint. I can be quite happy with the team, excellent work by Stuyven to bring back Vanmarcke. After that, the big 3 tried a lot, but couldn't get rid of GVA and Degenkolb. Undeserved winner, but that's cycling I guess.

Thanks for all the reports today, Shonak Wink
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Vanmarcke finishes the spring classics without a victory, that is freakin disappointing...after the performances before I gues I have to take the 2nd though, maybe that has saved something around P3 in the cobled World Cup for me (which is not enough of course)

Battaglin doing well in Wallonia is nice, unfortunately there were cobbles on the track Smile

Going a bit pear-shaped for us I think...

In all the cobble races so far: the only result of note is a 9th place: and I thought Feryn had 77/78 cobble riders: appears I was mistaken ... Knew we should have tried harder to sign Cordeel.

Strange enough this bad result has given me some extra motivation for a race tomorrow!

Thanks Shonak. Smile

There was a pretty big crash actually in the first half of the race, could be Langeveld (and others) were part of it. None of the top riders upfront tho.

Sees Roubaix result. It gets worse! No words.

At least my race went much better than that!

Thank you, Shonak, once again! Smile

Vanmarcke was eating cobblez at the start of the video. But I don't understand your disappointment, maybe the expectations are too high? Vanmarcke is one of many riders and not at all a stand-out cobbler ala Bewley or Cance.

Yes, bit of a shame it turned out that way, both were always at the back. Not exactly what you like to see of the World Champion, but looking at the palmares of Degenkolb and the many times he finished second, it was maybe about time, dunno.

Decided to do quickly some stages whilst watching news and waiting for Tatort, De Panne results posted.. might do Giro del Trentino during the Tatort, if it's not worth exciting enough. Wink

7th and 8th is an improvement on 8th and 9th so I'll take it. Best team again as well which is exactly what I was after. Nice riding by the whole team.

Rest of South Africa up now.

Spoiler
Well, Chapman has a lot of work to do on his time-trialling. Pfft

Top 20 is a superb result for him though. Shame that the peloton weren't very kind to the breakaways but, in the end, my guys were all dead anyway. Really hard race, that. Only Fuglsang and König looked truly comfortable.

Seems like the "cobbled" stage didn't have any impact so apart from the time trial again no stage results. Nevertheless a decent 3rd place for Cancellara but unfortunately not enough in a focus race for us.

He has the stats to be #1. He isn't in the game. That's partly my fault for giving him not the best of supports, but I hoped that it would work out the same way as it did last season for bikex.

I'm not complaining but happy with the result here. I'm unhappy with the addition of results on the cobbles.

PS: Have watched only the last 20 kms, my internet is hopelessly killing it otherwise...

Thx anyway, great to see this going on that pace, Shonak you are awesome!
