Okay, so I'm really having problems sleeping. I went to bed at about midnight, I fell asleep at around 3:30. I even went jogging before I went to sleep so I'd be more tired. It's getting worse and worse, I'm always wide awake hours before I can finally fall asleep.

Try reading for an hour, that always helps me calm down. Exercise is indeed one of the last things you should do before sleeping. |

I woke up with an eye infection yesterday, which is quite annoying cause I have three exams at the end of the month.

Okay, thanks for the hint! Will try it. Didn't realize you couldn't exercise before sleeping! |

@Ian
If you are going to do any exercise, then do it at least 2 hours before bed, preferably 3-4. While it ill burn off calories it releases adrenaline (as said above) and energizing various internal systems.
A good one is to delay your evening meal, and increase it's size. Cut out as many simple sugars from it, stocking up on heavier foods.
Other methods include, long deep breathing, alcohol and sex. Breathing slows the heart beat and relaxes the muscles. Alcohol is a depressant. Climax releases some stuff (name's gone) that helps sleep.
If you are struggling it will be tempting to get online, or watch tv. Going online will not help at all as it activates the brain and makes you concentrate. While this may tire you out after an hour, its another hour lost.
Flicking a film on can help. Make sure it's something you have seen a few times, and that is not overly engaging/funny/etc. Turn it down low and again it can lead to relaxation.
And of course there are always sleeping pills, which most doctors will happily give advice on.

Just get laid and you'll be sleeping sound in no time.

For me I usually can't fall asleep for an hour after I turned the lights off, but once I turn a really bright light on it seems to make me sleepy...

I've been having trouble sleeping lately too. I think its just because I'm excited for University, but its bad because I've been trying to fix my sleep schedule but still can't fall asleep until 2am when I have been trying to go to bed about 12:30-1 (atleast for now, so its not as large a jump in a few weeks when I try to go to bed to get up for 6am instead of 10am)

For once I don't hve trouble sleeping. Normally I can't close my eyes untill 2am., but now I'm long gone by midnight and up at 6-7am.
Not sure how long it will last, though...

like posting about me changing my signature a week later then when I changed it.

not in Black and White version 2 (would use that sprite but the file is 30,5 kb when the limit is 30 kb )

The easiest solution to fix sleeping schedule is to get up early every day and don't sleep during the day. Also set up the alarm clock in the evening so that you don't "forget" to go to bed.
Try to have a "bed ritual" (doing the same stuff every night).
Example: Brush teeth, go on toilet, read book, sleep.
In bed, read a book or have sex.
Don't watch TV in bed and if you still do, don't zap and set the timer so that it turns off if you fall asleep.
Don't eat heavy, don't drink alcohol, don't do drugs before you go to bed. Even if it would make you sleepy it is not the way you want to train yourself to get sleep. |

Just perfected the bass-riff to Morten Abels "Gravedigging" (check it out on spotify) so now it's off to bed! Though, isn't this exactly the type of thing I shouldn't do before bed?

I can attest that doing that on a consistent basis totally negates the effect.
