Even Tommy nearly podiumed one year  In fact I was one place worse in 5th overall last year, by far the best I've ever done with some good picks...but also lots of good luck.

Joined both. Expecting 0 Points (Although I might get some points by default just by entering the Ladies Giro )
Is anyone else slightly annoyed by the fact the riders are put into categories in the Tour game? Why can't we just select anyone we want like normal? I might want 4 sprinters. Or 4 of the riders on the climbers list. Seems a bit pointless.

That came fast indeed. But I better not comment on any ladies race this time.
Joined and 100% sure I will do worse than the previous ladies race 
Perhaps I still have more hopes for the ladies than this years TDF. Banking on just 2-3 riders on that one. Hardest picks I made so far.
How in Gods great heaven can one pick a team for the TDF and believe in it? 
The restrictions are just too hard, so it must come down to luck in the end.
However
I wish the best of luck (and skills) too you all mates.

Time for an old fart history lesson
Back in the distant past when Velogames started it was only Grand Tours and all the competitions had the Categorisation. I seem to recall the scoring system was a bit simpler back then, I think the classifications prevented stacking teams with sprinters. As more races were added it was too much effort to classify every race so they had the choose any 9 riders design. Its an interesting discussion point as to whether the classification systems adds to the decision making or limits it. For example when Coquard was dropped Petit became a more valuable 6 pointer but he is Classified as a Sprinter so limited options to add him.
P.S. I did not hold my nerve and have changed my TdF team, again. Always happy when the race starts and I can't tinker any more
