Well, I do have a lot of spare hours since I quit school. Monday I'll start something else, so depending on the hours it might slow down. However, it's possible that I'm too late and will only be able to start in February, in that case it'll keep going steady |

GP San Sébastian 2013
I believe I'm ready for the Vuelta.
- Roberto Velásquez -
Last year he was second, now he came for the win. Again there was a strong field, with Gilbert, Vanendert, Nibali, the two Schlecks...
On the highest point of the race, Roberto attacked.
But with no one coming with him and an entire peloton chasing, he let himself get caught. There's no point in battling the peloton with 40km left to go.
He waited and waited... Until Schleck attacked!
A small group was formed, and despite some more attempts, they'd make the finish line together.
It seemed as if Roberto was going straight for the win, everyone who was watching was sure he'd take it. But in the last 30m something happened to him, he slowed down drastically.
It cost him his first place, even a second place was out for him.
I started my sprint too early and too brusque. I really want to win this race one day, but Gilbert is such a strong rider. However, I believe I'm ready for the Vuelta. I'm ready for my second win!
Roberto had just signed a new contract, too, upon questioning from reporters:
I have signed a very generous contract, but I will keep it a secret until the final race of the year is over. Until the 25th of October, I am 100% concentrated on Team Colombia Coldeportes. (...) Johny Piqué signign for Sky? That's good, then I'll see a lot of him next year, he's a great guy to talk with!

Close but he couldn't do it this time. He will be able to move on for the Vuelta though!

Yeah, but because I'm going to change schools, another program.
I don't think it was the sprint bug, Roberto just wasted much energy with some attacking attempts, and he paid for it in the final kilometer |

Vuelta a España 2013
Hello, and welcome to Roberto Velásquez' playground, the Vuelta a España!
- Reporter -
It was time for Roberto second GT, his second Vuelta. And he came here with great ambitions, winning.
The field of 2013 was not the strongest. His greatest competitor would be Nibali, Cobo and Samuel Sánchez. Most teams sent a sprinter or a puncheur (like Gilbert). This was understandable, the profile only had 5 real mountain stages, but many more hilly stages. Roberto was top favorite.
Prologue
Result
1 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | 10'04 | | 2 | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 4 | | 3 | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | + 6 | | 4 | Roberto Velásquez | Colombia Coldeportes | s.t. | IanButler | 5 | Janez Brajkovic | Astana Pro Team | + 7 | | 6 | Linus Gerdemann | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 8 | | 7 | David Millar | Team Garmin-Barracuda | + 11 | | 8 | Samuel Sánchez | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 12 | | 9 | Alex Dowsett | Sky Pro Cycling | + 13 | | 10 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | + 14 | |
Roberto after the race:
It's nice to be back. I had a great day, the people are incredible, calling out my name during the race, it really got me going! Can't wait for the first mountain stages. Gilbert is not an overall favorite, but with the many hilly stages and his determination to hang on in the mountains, he could ride a great Vuelta himself. Though I have no doubt he will lose many, many minutes when the real mountains come. I'll make sure of that. |

Nice start to the Vuelta, didn't know he was that great at prologue.
Bad luck in San Seb though, he will come back next year I think.
Also nice to see Pique joining Sky or at least a better team (why Sky?!?! )
Vincenzo Nibali - Rui Costa - Nairo Quintana - Alberto Contador - Peter Sagan

The Last of the Real
- Story about Dries Deckers - racing against Merckx, de Vlaeminck etc.

Didn`t had time to read here in the last weeks. Will try to do this from time to time. But you are just too quick.
You had some brilliant results recently and a good start into the Vuelta.
He surely must be the best ever rider of Colombia Coldeportes. |

the_hoyle: Thanks
Wild Dog: Well, the little hill helped. His prologue atm is only 70, but he only has 44 race days or so, while most AI in Vuelta have a bad form because they already have 70-80 race days
Jakstar22: Thanks. Even the strongest rider doesn't always win but it's not so bad, this way he still has some races he has to win!
andy222c: Thanks!
roturn: When I'm through with him, he'll be the best rider ever. period Thanks for trying to follow! |

He meant WorldTour I'm not 100% sure what team I'll send Roberto to myself, but a couple of teams are out, and Sky is one of them. I'd like to see him in a team where he can be leader for classics and any GT he'd like, and in Sky there is too much talent |

Please don't let him go to Sky! Movistar would be great or another spanish top team would be as well.

ok
Personally I would love to see him in Euskatel. With Samy giving him his experiences and being a perfect team mate for him
But it´s up to you and I know you will choose perfect team |
