Drop the double points on the final climb or whatever the rule is now at all.
Give really big points on the big climbs such as Ventoux or Tourmalet. But big points only to like the first three with a good gap between them as well. That way you make you sure the jersey goes to someone who actually goes for it and can also be first at the top of the very big climbs, not just a points hunter.
totally agree here

Could be a good solution. Think this was the intended point of having HC/1/2/3/4 categorization, but it feels as if many 1c climbs are vastly different from one another in terms of challenge (as are HCs), so this may be something they can rectify by taking a closer look at how climbs are assigned in general. Perhaps I'm wrong in my comparisons, but Peyresourde alone is a junior Tourmalet, but has the same classification in this race as Saisies, which is 5k shorter and less challenging in grade, especially at the top. Same goes for Luz, as I think Trek mentioned, which is a much less intense climb than Tourmalet, Portet, even arguably Montee Tignes, if we want to use strictly this years ascents.

Everybody was moaning about Virenque's last 2 KOMs almost 20 years ago, when he was just hunting points, now we have conversation in opposite guard. For me the bigger problem is that guys who're battling for KOM jersey through the race are almost always non-factor in GC. Therefore I am kinda glad for double points when there's mountain finish.

I would argue Pogacar easily won the two mountain finishes, so it's not a bad thing he gets the jersey. It's definitely better than Charteau was or Poels would be.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Jeez, I guess he's still just as arrogant as ever. He realizes if he loses that sprint that might be it for the record, right? He can't just assume he's gonna come back next year against the actual best sprinters and win again.

More likely he's tired after the mountains, same for the team around him. Take an extra day or two to rest, then all they need to do is a shorter effort in Paris. Much more likely they can control that and give Cav the best chance to win, whereas today they'd be under huge attack and at real risk of Matthews/Colbrelli snatching huge points.
Cav and QS aren't idiots, or that arrogant. They have enough experience to know their best bet at a 5th Stage win, the Green, and the record is one big go on the Champs-Elysees.

It's decided anyway. Pogacar wins the U25 mountain classification and the overall classification. |

What are the chances of having two solo rouleur stage victories in the same race?

More likely just an annoyed response more than a direct imitation (i hope!). But it's definitely one way to not win yourself fans, and to keep the conversation on doping instead of wins.
Right, onto Tadope Drugacar going radioactive in the TT
[as i always say, much easier to assume they are all on drugs and just enjoy it]

I like Mohoric but what a dumb celebration. The great cycling nation now with 5 stage wins, soon 6 Totally legit.
