In Groningen we have some studies in English, for example the one I'm going to do (InternationalRelations&InternationalOrganization), which consists of politics partially.
Funnily enough, that's the course I was looking at from Groningen
How much does it tend to cost in living expenses - accommodation, food etc - to study there? Just asking because the fees are only £1,500 a year I think so if those are low then it might be an option. Looking at £15,000-£20,000 a year here for fees and cost of living, so even without a student loan going abroad seems more attractive

I'm not sure, since I'm living at home. In Groningen, a room is €400 (appr. £320) p/m on average. Price levels are about the same in the UK I believe. Tuition is indeed about £1500 per year. Which reminds me I still have to pay that
But yeah, it would be nice if we'd be doing the same thing

Awesome. You should really come to Groningen
Lots of foreigners anyway, I think. Though haven't looked at it in-depth yet, I'll likely study there from 2015 too.

£320 p/m is unbelievably cheap compared to the UK. Looking at the living expenses on the Groningen website I'd need about £8,500 a year which is less than fees here - and I'd qualify for a loan to cover tuition fees, plus if I was working enough I'd qualify for student finance. So I'll definitely consider it.

you have to pay £320 in the Nederlands for your room? is this right?
if yes, then i'm happy to live in good old germany where my room is 195€ or £156,31. at least it'll be in 3 weeks, when i'll start studying...

You pay about £100-£125 a week at most UK universities. So yes, the Netherlands is cheap - need to have a look at Germany if it's that cheap though |

It can be cheaper in Groningen than the 400. Some quick research taught me a room can be available for under €250p/m. Still more expensive than in Germany, but then you do live in Groningen instead of Germany

Got my results today for AS Level - for the non-UK people it's the exams you do before you apply for university which kind of give universities an idea of if you'll meet their entry requirements next year. Got 3 A's and a B, which I'm delighted with seeing as I need 3 A's for the courses I've looked at. Now to start applying
Well done!! I got an unconditional offer in March for university, and then didnt revise enough so i basically failed mine... |

Thanks. Doesn't really matter if you failed seeing as you have an unconditional where is your offer from and what for? |

Whereabouts are you studying, if you don't mind me asking? Also, is that a WG or Students "Wohnheim"? And how big is your room?

We have exams in May/June and results in August. We apply for Uni in January with up to 5 choices, choose which offers (grades required for entry set by universities) - from the universities that decide to make them from the 5 - to be our Firm and Insurance choices and then find out if we get in on results day if we meet the grade. |
