Very weird sprint from Grosu in what looked like a perfect stage for him.

A little late to the party, but my boy Kalaba winning the opening stage ahead of my boy Peak to take yellow? That is amazing!

Ooooh, so, so close! Prasad winning a stage in the Tour after the fairytale Vuelta would have been quite something. Having said that, 2nd is a brilliant result and already makes his Tour a success, points wise. But oh so close we got!
Congratulations on the win, Roman. A big surprise for a winner on such a stage! |

Rajovic is pretty hit and miss. Seems like he doesn't have the luck the other worst sprinters have had this season. Hopefully we're more in our element when the road goes uphill.

Sam the only of my riders putting in a real effort getting into all the breakaways which I can't complain about
Jakobsen slightly more respectable for 8th. How Cerny is winning a sprint stage here is beyond my belief though. The big guns really not delivering where they should which happens all too often

Had hopes that these mur finishes would favor climbers when doing the planning. Now that wouldnt change anything for my planning but probably puts green out of reach already.

After so many years of being just bad Josef Cerny just wins a sprint in a TdF stage? Well, it is a nice, shocking and important result for my team, but it just shows how unsuited the AI really is for MG in the last few versions.

What did Kalaba eat before this race? This guy can do everything now

On paper I thought that would be more of a MO/HI stage than a FL/HI stage so slightly surprised to see how it played out - guessing the final climb wasn't particularly steep? From our perspective, maintaining the KoM lead and 2nd in the U25 is a good day's work, even if it would have been nice to see Peak or Barguil more active in the finale. |

Not much to say about that one. Expected more selection but not disappointed about it given my roster here. Nice to see Yates have success in the hills.

Wasn't expecting Grosu to lose the jersey without gaps in this stage. Well, it was nice while it lasted.

"AI unsuited for the MG" is a good way of putting it because I think if there is a problem here it is with the MG and not the AI. That was a stage with a bunch of moderate hills and an uphill sprint. Cerny seems like the perfect rider for that finish with his decent hills, strong acceleration and solid sprint. As an unapologetic fan of the punchy sprinter I think it is an improvement in the AI that riders like him have a place rather than everyone having to be one dimensional.

Yates! Great to see he is doing well and grabbing his first stage here really helps us and justifies us sending him here. We need to remain consistent for us to win the overall still with the amount of points available for the main climbers but taking the yellow and green jerseys this early is great to see!
Stage 6 is more difficult but Yates is still one of the best puncheurs here so I'd like to think he will be collecting yet more points for the green jersey here...

Darn! So close to nabbing some bonus seconds
This was definitely a better showing on the hills than whatever stupid tactics the team had in the Dauphine. A shame there were no gaps, but that's pretty much the norm nowadays. 4th and 6th on the stage is some solid scoring.

No rider top 100 is fine on such a stage for us, hoping it is all part of the plan to go aggressive at a later stage of this race. Congratulations on the win, ryant! Denying Phinney and PHL on such a stage is mighty impressive, I must say. |

First stage podium, gotta start somewhere. This stage could have gone either way. Hoped for more gaps but some minor ranking points, some jersey points, ... could have been worse.

Nice enough to get someone in the break, but Rojas was never going to be strong enough to do something on this terrain. Would have hoped for a guy like Olesen or Petrovski to throw a flyer instead. Not super encouraging for Quintana to only be 70th as our top placed rider, but I guess we didn't expect a result today anyway.

Kalaba still on the GC podium, like how? Love the extra points we're getting from this
