Huge stage for us. AKA got in a good position this time around and unlike stage 1, he didn't leave too early. Timed it perfectly to get on the podium and up to 8th overall. Getting beaten by Lander is funny though, crazy to see him in 2nd in this field.
We can hopefully count on him for a decent epilogue, but we'll need to score bonus seconds tomorrow too to maintain a good GC place. Since we have no depth points here, it's gonna be all on AKA.

Need to score some more bonus seconds before the TT.

First stage win of the season for our man Jakobsen
Up to 3rd in the GC is amazing! Can only hope he remains up there come the end of it.
Thank you for another great report! Certainly some funky results, feel bad for those who are getting the wrong end of the stick.

Another top 5 from Prasad is a big surprise
If he gets the positioning right on stage 5, he could even be in for a decent GC, a top 20 or so, as his prologue stat isn't a disaster, eventhough it's not good
Jakobsen making sure everyone takes notice of Zara as newly promoted. He's putting up a brilliant foundation for their season, by the looks of it. Congratulations on the stage win! |

Impressive race by Philipsen so far. Not great against the clock, so it's still quite open. Let's see if the jersey will him give some extra power.
Some quiet days for us, but hopefully we can do something in the epilogue now.

Thank you for the report, UU! Enjoy the detailed coverage of the sprints and build up, as it's easy to follow how it unfolds.
And just like that, Philipsen should have secured the GC Mighty impressive, and congratulations, beagle!
Also mighty impressive by Hsu. He's always finding a way to deliver results, also against greater opposition.
For us, another top 10 by Prasad means we must say that the sprint stages have been good for us, eventhough it won't show much in the points. Having Prasad contend the sprints is great, though, and very encouraging for what's to come later this season. Now for the most important stage for us, we would really like a Kragh win in the epilogue! |

Disappointing sprint performances from Kemboi, but looks like our worst case scenario here is probably 3rd on GC which isn't too bad.
Looks like Philipsen and Gaviria are just a bit too far out of reach - I think if the gap was 5 seconds smaller to each there might be a chance, but with the epilogue shorter than it used to be the gap is probably too much to overcome. |

I remember again why I never bothered to send Demare here.
Kanter got absolutely fucked by luck and AI this week, which looks even worse considering Philipsen is basically an identical rider.
I hope we'll at least get some U25 points out of this with our young TTers, and Ganna needs to be better than last week.

Always a scary race as Van der Lijke doesn't offer deliver on pure flat. Let's see what a new PCM brings then..
Stage 1 - very happy for Van der Lijke to pick Gaviria's wheel and ride it to an ultimate 4th.
Stage 2 - Basically just follow Gaviria! A pity it didn't quite work out so well, but any Top 10 is a win, so clock in those couple of seconds for 9th.
Stage 3 - Ahhh still smiling but that looked for a moment like it should be more than 5th! Tanfield in the break getting bonus seconds ... and getting dropped. Well I applaud the ambition, but regret the outcome! Nearly in a world where Tanfield could have GC Top 10d the first two stage races, that would have been something.
Stage 4 - Well it was too much to ask for every sprint to be better than the norm for last season!
Stage 5 - oooh, nearly! Well placed but just not quite enough top end. Still, 4th in GC after all the sprints is fantastic.
One lottery made through ok, now for the next one

Two very good results for Silvestre that make me a lot more optimistic that he can do some good things against PCT competition after all. Condolences to SotD, I really hope Coquard will start to put it all together soon!

Unspectacular effort for AKA there, but at least he still sprinter and was in the top 10. We'll need a decent effort to stay in the top 10 on GC, but it should be possible given the stat distributions for PRL, if PCM cooperates. Unfortunately we're not gonna have any depth scoring which is what will really hurt us on this points scale.
Thanks for the report!

Finally, we joined the break. Obviously didnt get anything from it and that had to be expected but nevertheless, at least we finally tried. Time to get over with this race.
I miss the times when we could see some wind action in this race...
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Disappointing Stage 5 no show from Jakobsen.
Final stage went about as expected for the team although would have liked a little better from Cosnefroy/Thomas.
But no complaints from me here Jakobsen with a stage win, 4th in the GC and 4th in the Points is a fantastic first showing from him this season!
Congrats to Polar on the fairly unlikely GC win for Philipsen. Thank you also for the great quality reports throughout

Groenewegen started very well here, then somehow disappeared and only with luck got small bonuses on two other stages.
One of his weaker performances here in Qatar unfortunately. Good that it was a wildcard for me only.
Not really happy with the performance of the top sprinters, who were not really done well. Even though Gaviria in parts was an exception. |

Very good last stage for us. Stage podium for Gabby and team jersey, then 5 riders in top 50 GC. Well done! |
