Congrats to BWT on a great win! Well deserved.
Very happy with our performances. Kämna showed up and did what he was supposed to to stay near the best times and finish 4th. Now 2nd overall and just 5 seconds off the pace, he's in a really good spot for the final two days. The gaps are still small though, and anything could happen. I feel like he should outlast Cosnefroy on paper, but plenty of the riders just behind him could gain minutes on any given day.
As far as our other guys, Guldhammer was always going to lose big time here. He at least kept things reasonable, so I can't complain. Eg was good enough too. Jensen predictably fell off the pace, but hopefully that makes him a great superdomestique or foil for the final days. Kamna should be the priority now, but we want as many guys scoring as possible too.

No stage win for us but a strong performance from Cosnefroy especially to move into the GC lead and Conci to be provisional 4th. Taaramae possibly handing over the reigns as leader here to the Italian.
Interested to see if Cosnefroy can hold on here given he managed to in the first stages in the hills. Would be a massive effort if he can!
The hope is that Conci doesn’t sacrifice himself for Cosnefroy for it to be in vain.
Let’s see! Thank you for a great TT report

Mixed day in the ITT. Bad outing for Borisavljevic which probably relegates him to a low GC spot now. Also no stage points from Christodoulos.
Pogacar had a good TT and he was probably the most important rider to have a good day, so I'll take that. I'm guessing it's now all hands on deck for him. The gaps are so small that this could still go wrong, probably can't afford a bad day.

Not a great TT stage for us. Marchewka looked good for quite some time, but finally lost out to some clearly weaker TTers. Guess he already lost too much energy in the hilly stages.
Madnada as always just outside the Top50; given some other results, he could easily have been Top30. Guess not the best legs today, hopefully he'll be stronger on the next 2 stages.
Surprisingly, even Moscon still isn't that far off the scoring positions, so we actually might still have 2 options.
Congrats to BWT, signing Brändle definitely was a good move, despite the decline. Let's see if he can handle the uphill finishes better than in HK, though...

Seems that the more hilly terrain could be his kryptonite, but I'll take a stage win nonetheless even if his drops off a bit. Thanks for the report, UU

Signing Edvald Boasson Hagen after his decline, was definately not a good move though.
Just on this one single taylor fit hilly stage, he arrives 8 (YES EIGHT!!!) minutes behind the peloton
You will be fined 8 times your wage, since you think you've retired already...
Congrats to Lierse on a nice victory and thank you Ulrich for yet another quality report! |

C1 plus hills doesn't agree with Glanbia. As expected, way off the pace. I was hoping one of my riders would hang in...
No excuses not to do some serious attacking tomorrow

I have some mixed feelings again, although I guess this was a good outcome.
I would've thought Pogacar could beat Conci in a sprint, but I guess he did still finish ahead of faster guys and it's just a bit unfortunate we miss out both on the race lead and the U25 at the same time
The good is 2nd in GC is still better than I imagined heading into the final stage, the gaps are still super small though and we'll need a good performance to stay in a good position.
Looks like Borisavljevic was more riding his own race rather than being a domestique. He did a nice job, sitting 11th in GC gives him a chance to be a 2nd scorer for us here.
And speaking of doing a nice job, Pavlic must have had a really good day. So Boris really didn't need to be a domestique at any point. I doubt he'll stay where he is in GC, but he really performed for today and I'll take that.
Finally we're 2nd in the teams classification and that's pretty much like a win, because it would be folly for me to think my team could beat a trio like Oomen, Novak and Senni. We have a good gap over Carlsberg and it would be nice if we could hold that spot tomorrow.

Yeah, right, thanks for reminding me that PCM is best at randomly fucking over some teams from time to time. We were lucky in Hong Kong, here we hit the trash jackpot. Won't even try to make sense of the result, it doesn't make any. If Aregger finishes on s.t. with your strongest riders on such a stage, it's not him who did a great race, it's PCM's Artificial Dumbness at its best (as no sensible human could ever be as dumb). In Catalunya we were fucked over as well; at least there we had the depth to still succeed, but here it's just a wasted race. Top 10 stage favorite losing 6 minutes, sure... #PCMGoHome

Can't be entirely happy with this, and only one day left to attack.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

At least Brändle didn't suffer severely from the reverse Preidleritis that plagued him in Hong Kong.
Congrats to Ollfardh for winning this stage and to UU for the report

Well, I can’t complain too much with losing the GC lead when it goes to another one of our riders
Was to be expected that Cosnefroy could struggle and glad the team noticed that and worked for Conci who looks in strong form. A great 3rd place from the youngster to take the GC lead.
Will be a tough stage tomorrow but an amazing win if Conci can hold on!
Thank you for the report and a strong showing from Lierse who are the big threat tomorrow

Damn, tough day for us. Kamna hung on as long as possible, but ultimately cracked really hard. Did not expect to lose 1'40'' on such a big group that late in the stage. He did his job in the TT, but I guess the race was just too selective for him. This may be a problem going forward.
Guldhammer was a little weak in the sprint too. I guess we're all behind him now, so hopefully he has a good final stage. There are still several guys in front of him that he should be able to gap on a good day, but with daily form you don't really know. I wonder if we'll see some aggression from Kamna, Jensen, or Eg now that we don't have multiple leaders or a GC top 5.

What a leader's performance by Zordan! He get 26 mountain point in this stage and tie in point with Rodriguez, finished as 2nd in KOM standing.
Also, glad to see young riders Colleoni and Mulubrhan help in early stage to get this great team result. |

I thought that the opening text about Pogacar never leading the race and no one feeling sorry for him was a foreshadowing of bad things to come. It didn't turn out too bad though
Dropping from 2nd to 3rd is fine and 3rd is still quite better than I expected before the race started. It's true this was probably the worst stage for the team as a whole, but Borisavljevic 14th and Pavlic 18th is still pretty solid depth. And despite the awful day we somehow held on to 2nd place in the team classification
Pogacar still can't win a U25 classification, people were telling me it was gonna be easy for him, wrong
A big scoring race for us this, probably around double that of what I conservately thought was gonna happen. The GC pts aren't massive in C1, but that TTT win really gave us a lot of extra pts even without a big stage result. With this and the success at Ocean Road I am guessing we're kinda back on track after a pretty rough start of the year. But we'll see for sure at the next ranking update.
Thanks again for the reports UU

Got a sliver of reception in time to see whatever the fuck that was. We couldn’t buy luck if we tried, Jesus Christ. Add this to hong kong and TDU and we have had such an unlucky start to the season. Finishing behind a 1 dimensional puncheur here in Calmejane in the GC is just icing on the cake like what the fuck are we supposed to do? Probably the first time in 8 years I genuinely dread reading race reports.
Thank you for the reports ulrich. The Kom fight was especially interesting.

Well, the reverse Preidleritis has hit Brändle hard. Here's the explaination:
Preidleritis, a.k.a. Preidler syndrome - a rider that is good in either mountain or hilly terrain (or both), but collapses during TT stages
reverse Preidleritis - the symptoms of the rider are reversed

After the TTT I was worried the game thought Stuyven was our leader. I was wrong, the game thought it was Kalaba
Not a good start to the team for Dennis Luckily he'll also ride a few flatter races where there is no reason the game shouldn't use him.
Thanks for the reports UU and congrats LLS!

Sad we didn't get the win we sought, but it was never really an option this year. Oomen disappointingly bad all race. Novak with only 1 good stage. Senni hanging in there does make up a bit, but still not what we hoped after last year. Congrats to Zara and thanks for the reports!
