Narrowly losing the Stage is absolutely OK when going H2H with the world champion. Congrats on finally making it work croatia :-)
Kemboi with a sudden leave of absence put Coquard into a very solid lead. It’s always a gamble whether or not it’s enough depending on the GC battle, but it should be enough to see us Secure some points for a top 3-5 at the very least. It would take some very bad luck to miss that.
Given the results yesterday, I can’t exactly say that I look forward to the remaining stages, but Coquard has now done what we asked for prior to the race, so whatever the GC guys decide to do is somewhat of a bonus, even if it sucks to see them perform below expectations.

A good result from Formolo that gives us some breathing room, but given he was the big favorite before the stage I feel like more could have been done.

Abdul Halil is improving, onto fourteenth now. By the time the GT's arrive he'll know how to win stages
Thanks for the always impressively detailed reports, Fab!

Not much for us, but it's good to see Almeida in the top20. Let's see how he fares on the mountain stage. Congrats on the win Croatia. Good to see Gaviria making amends!

Nice to see Giannoutsos out on the break, but similarly worrying to see how he performed. He really should have done better, and atleast picked up more KOM points from simply being the best. He wasn't though...
Chiarello moved up to 15th, but unfortunately I don't really see any way of him moving up further, which is slightly dissapointing tbh. In fact he will likely be overtaken by Roglic on the final TT and drop to 16th - and who knows - maybe a breakaway rider or two will surpass him also.
Giannoutsos all the way down to 45th in the GC is really bad given how I expected him to fight for 20-25th. If he isn't better in the climbs I have made a bad mistake when developping him. He should have taken the 78/75 MO/HI path with higher ACC, but worse physical and TT stats.

Outstanding victory for Formolo. It was in order after Grosu's dismal performance in Qatar. Congrats alex!

Lecuisinier struggles surprisingly much to show everyone that this is his race to win. What a win by Formolo!
Foss in the very last group on the road is a big surprise, and another negative one. It feels like we’re having a lot of bad luck these early days of the season. Fingers crossed it’s only that, and not something that becomes a habit. |

Good stage by Lastra. Vingegaard did what we hoped for and aimed for the break, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
Hopefully we can pull of something in the next stage, as the ITT will probably not having anything in it for us.

Chamorro too weak to join the break is concerning. Hope he can do it on the last hilly stage. Apart from that nothing to see for us.

I don't know what that was but I'll gladly take it. Hopefully a podium is the least Formolo can get from this race now.

Great effort from Neuman, saving this race at least a little bit for my team.
It was not the best decision I have ever made to bring here Warchol as the leader. But he even lost time on Seboka, just wow...

Lecuisinier struggled more than i hoped for. Had hoped that he at least has a stage win or yellow by now. Still, he seems to be in an alright position for the GC fight.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Given the dissapointing display of my GC rider both here and in Tirreno it's a very welcome surprise to see Coquard play a leading role in todays stage. 3rd is absolutely fine in a chaotic mano y mano sprint against some of the best in the world. Especially seeing that it secures the points jersey and thus makes up for the dissapointing GC show.
I don't exactly expect anything from the final stage, so we'll just sit back and enjoy it if anything goes our way.

Stojnic trying very hard, but obviously can't keep up with the PT big guns. Reports still very entertaining and lovely to read

Well...Interesting stage. First of all I'm very happy how our whole team performed today, working fantasticly for Gaviria. Then Gaviria had to do it on his own, making the right call to follow Sosa to then...not start the sprint. Probably thrown away a win, still received a 2nd place which is a lot more than I expected, so happy nontheless.
Another awesome report by Fabianski, those are just beauties.

A pity to be so invisible in such great reports. One last stage for us to endure. Congrats on the win to ISA!

Good effort by Ringheim, but not to be. Still have the TT left, but looking like it's going to be a fairly quiet race for us besides Larsen's good prologue. Let's just hope to climb a few spots in the GC in the TT.

Sosa is amazing! I really appreciate his attacking race style. It didn't really pay off in the last two stages and probably even he could've been better if he had conserved his energies better in the mountain stage, but he still sits in 5th GC positions, so I cannot complain. Probably he'll drop a few places in the final tt, maybe even outside the top 10, but in total I will be quite happy with how the race went. Hsu got another stage top 10 so it won't be a complete waste to send him here.
Thanks for the good reports so far, looking forward to the last one! |

Morton probably did as expected finishing in the first group after dieseling his way up the final climb and not being too spectacular. Considering we sit in 4th overall and *hopefully will at least grab a podium on the final TT it seems we will meet some minimum expectations from the race. However, we didn't get the luck at all with Carthy so depth scoring won't be as good as it should have been looking at Team Popo and their dual leadership combo.
I'm unsure just how much time gaps there will be on the Col d'eze TT so I doubt Formolo will be caught by us and tbh he may well hold on to the win on a good day. Good luck to him!

Damn, stage 6 was somewhat painful for two reasons. Dombrowski looked on his way to a great result before completely collapsing in the final meters. And Formolo put in a level of performance I've never seen from him at Gazelle. Still cool to see him win though.
Awesome KoM campaign by Bernard in stage 7. His skillset is very well suited for KoM chasing, so nice to see him deliver.
