Damn, our last few races have had really bad luck as far as daily form. For Guldhammer to crack from a group with several dozen riders remaining on a day like today is jaw droppingly bad. And then when we sent back our other guys to help and throw away their own GC, I almost screamed. Luckily it work. The pace slowed at the end and we managed to steal our way into the same time group. Have to hope now that today was a -5 abberration, but I feel like more often than not a bad day early is a sign of things to come in a race like this.
Guess all the haters were right about Aranburu too. Completely useless thus far. Though surely he should have been in the front group on a day like this even at 77/77. Whatever.
On the other hand - Skjelmose in the breakaway!

Extremely interesting race so far, too bad there was no gap today.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Definitely some interesting action here. It looked like everything was set up for Phinney to take over the jersey, but first the group can't shake off Kemboi, and then they give away the stage win. Really strange (and heavily annoying for their managers) that none of the top puncheurs even tried to go for the stage win...
So Amaysim say "Thank You" and get some nice (unexpected) bonus points. They'll promote anyway, so I guess the PCT teams are happy it wasn't a midfield or relegation candidate team pulling off this show

Wow! Trondsen winning a stage was a surprise, but not a shocker probably. But then to have De Gendt following up with a stage win the day after ... Just two great stages for us really, and a much needed kick-start to the season. Okay, APP losing a bit of time was probably not ideal, but two great victorie and the race is already a big success for us. I hope we can try to continue to chase stages, but I can't expect more now!
Thanks for all the congrats, guys. And thanks for the reports, roturn!

You know you are in for a low score when your level1 rider is best placed in GC and when you dont attack on these stages

Grieg on a roll! Congratulations again.
Encouraging to see Mohoric try and be aggressive. More of that, please! |

The AI has been a catastrophe so far, hopefully racing gets better later in the race.

What a start for Grieg!
Rohendi hopefully goes for the break in the following stages too, he’s a very handy rider. Hope he actually decides to contest the KOM sprints next time though. Phinney again missing the GC lead due to the wacky Ai.
Thanks for the fast reports roturn!

Why are we even chasing?!
I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this race.

Nice little run in white and cool to see Vermeersch in the breakaway today

Great job for Koretzky to take 4th here. In hindsight I really should have invested Bouglas in riding here, as it seems like a perfect scenario for him.
Oh well - After 4 racedays of nothing, we finally hit the points again, albeit minor.
Stage 5 looks intruiging with that sharp final dash. I can't really decide whether I think it's too hard for Koretzky or just perfect. We'll have to see. It is also the kind of finish that can kill Mavrikakis, but we'll have to cross our fingers he's still attentive enough to spot a solid shot at a GC top 10 for the first time in his career.
Congrats on a nice win Oleg.

Nice to keep the GC lead for another day. We should go back to joining breaks though I'm looking at you, Cam Bayly and Michael Storer!

Bravo chipping away at the KoM points is encouraging! Other than that, not much from us. Must admit I hoped to see Kragh contest this kind of finishes here, as he surely could be able to claim a couple of top 5s, but it looks like we've decided to prioritize Ballerini. |

Shame that Madrazo's efforts weren't rewarded on stage 3, but encouraging that he was able to force a selection (and tried to do so). Other than that, not much to write home about. But we can't expect any breakaway action, given we have one of the top favorites. Nice to see us leading the peloton, which really doesn't happen often.

Good to see Van Poppel getting 2nd there though a win would have been better. Finally, something to show off this season.
Now, hopefully we will join the breakaways and hope for a lucky one.

No win this time, but a solid day with a man in the break and both Trondsen and De Gendt just outside the top 10. With positioning like on stage two, more could have been possible, but we take with us the positives. Congrats on the stage win, Oleg!

Ouch, ouch, ouch. That was not ideal by any means! Our two best riders lost quite a lot of time, even being overtaken by two of our domestiques - who unfortunately lost time previously.
This is a huge setback, and the GC fight is officially down the drain. We need to re-saddle and put the strong guys into the breaks now, and not the lower tier domestiques. Otherwise we'll leave this race with 25-30 points or so.
