Great effort by Areruya, not quite enough for the stage win but still rewarded with those bonus seconds. Agree that it was the right stage winner, and I liked that it was not just a straight bunch sprint up the hill. Nice redemption by Eislers, not all that unreasonable to see him and Hsu, the sprinters with the highest MO stat, up there.

Finally a good stage result from Hsu, even if not in a stage that I expected him to do this well. Unfortunately though he loses the white jersey to Areruya.

No surprise seeing Yates win a stage like that. Congrats on the win, Mre!
Good to see that we managed to get a guy in the break. A pity that we couldn't fight for KoM points, but safely through another stage. Hopefully another attack tomorrow.

Eh, why not follow that attack when you're placed perfectly and there's so little road left that the energy expended is negligible.
No time gaps and some stage points makes this acceptable.
We have to aim for bonus seconds tomorrow though to make up for this. It'll be a bunch sprint again, but clearly favoring the puncheurs this time.

Once again, mixed feelings about this. 2nd on the day is awesome but that should have been a time gap between Eislers and Areruya...
And i feel now is where the messed up order of the Evonik guys on day 1 really hurts us as Eislers should have been top 3 in GC or at least points classification by now. Particularly not being up there in the points classification is super costly as it could have snowballed over the next couple of days via daily points.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Beautiful leadout from Areruya for Yates and Eislers I mean seriously, I still am happy with the third place but as soon as I saw that attack I was pretty confident of the final podium order
However taking those bonuses with hopefully not too much energy expended in the long-term is nice, and certainly I love to already be getting those white jersey points which hopefully can be taken each day all the way to Milan (though Bernal is very scary so I don't think it will be a walk in the park at all like I hoped after not properly checking the wildcards for the year ). Most of all like I said after he was so high up on the sprint stages it's a really positive sign for his intent and tactics here, really excited to see how we play the next week before the second half of the race becomes about just finishing as high up as we can on the mountain stages.

Eislers with a bit of a redemption arc, surprisingly on a hillier stage, but Yates is just tailor made for that kind of finish.
Nothing special for us today. Nice to see Guldhammer alert and sneaking into the top 10.

Yates First of hopefully a few stage wins here (and perhaps go after the points jersey in the process).

Good to see the long-standing tradition of sprinty British puncheurs in Yates and Bellis consistently beating Xero riders in bunch sprints back-to-back. Can't complain with more bonuses and stage points though.

The peloton is really having none of it. Not the ideal race to have gone for breakaways it seems. Both Jang and Kastrantas tried early, and in a normal race situation they should have been allowed away given how little attempts there were.
It will be very difficult to have a shot at the KOM jersey at any given point for us, and thus I suspect we can decrease expectations to this race drastically. Aidan van Niekerk who is tailormade for a stage like this doesn't seem to bother one bit either.
Congrats on another Yates win though - good decision sending him here obviously!

That man again! Deserved for Yates to at least get a day in pink after two stage wins in a row.
Easy day for us tomorrow with the TTT, but hopefully the race can kick off after that.
Thanks for the report, redordead! It's a great start to the day with a stage report ready

That's more than just a minor disappointment.
Obviously not one that will decide the race outcome, but zero podiums from two hilly stages is not on par with previous performances and means we'd need to win the TTT outright to have Silvio in pink going into the mountains.
Speaking of, we're the strongest pure TT squad present, but would lose to Generali if the rolling nature of tomorrow's route proves to be decisive. I hope we can negate the underwhelming momentum with a positive surprise.
It's also our only chance left to get a headstart over the other 84 climbers.
Congrats to Zwift! At least Demare avoids Yates this way.

Carboni showing himself for the first time in the finish of the stage in a good position. Unfortunately he got blocked a lot so that he couldn`t join hte fight for a better result.
In the end Zardini again should be the one using his sprint stat on such stage though.
Looking forward to the TTT and also the mountains to see what my 2nd-3rd tier squad can do here.
Congrats again to Yates. Obviously a deserved win but also nice to see Areruya that strong as also Buchmann on such stage. |

If you look at Yates' stats, this would be the expected outcome. But with PCM that barely happens, so I'm impressed by that.
Dombrowski looks finishing towards the front, but with no time gaps it means nothing so far. Surprised to see such big group staying together in the last couple stages.

2-for-2!
Yates living up to all that money we pumped into him for training these last three seasons. Awesome that PCM respects his unusual stat matrix. Overall, just a proud moment for our team.
Let's keep this momentum rolling with a few more days in pink, a few more stage wins and a run at this points jersey.

Proud of Sulvaran. Clearly on a strong day and willing to give his all. I guess it was too early for a breakaway day, but I still didn't expect that much coverage of escapees that early.
Nice job by Guldhammer to stay alert and up front in 6th. He looks solid, although I wish he had more teams support around him.
Another perfect stage for Yates I suppose. Refreshing to see his skillset rewarded.

Well absolutely can't complain about that, not great as expected but 6th on GC and third of the contenders is a great position to be in coming out of a TTT, and with no more flat TT kilometres to come we've moved past Areruya and the team's biggest weakness. Holding onto white is very nice as well, and even staying level with Bernal which is solid. The real selections are obviously still to come since we're talking about mere seconds at the moment

This was worse than I had hoped but I guess they all couldn`t go full speed as the "leader" Carboni was one of the weaker time trialists, so the others had to slow down a bit to get him into the top5 of the team.
Generali with the expected win though. Congrats on that! |
