Admittedly I hoped we would be able to send Silva in the breakaway on the final day, as he would have had a chance at the KoM points and jersey. Though, those could be important points for Carlsberg, getting something from this race when they didn't expect it!
Also congratulations on another stage win, viking90, and also to maxime86 on the overall win.
Thank you for the reports, roturn, I enjoyed the pace!
Thanks for the reports roturn, congrats Carrefour. We get some points at least but I'm shocked by our refusal to go in the break if we had nothing to lose anyway.
Stage 1: Good effort by Sinkledam, just poor finishing execution. A podium place and KOM lead is still very good though compared to expectations. Hopefully we carry that sense of urgency into the next days.
Stage 2: Appo sprinting to 177th. Can't make this up.
Stage 3: Nothing to say here since we didn't bring a TTist.
Stage 4: The youngster Latvian tried his luck, not to be. I actually forgot Appo was in the race during the sprint. Luckily, he forgot to. 124th. I mean, what? I know he's a tier 3 sprinter here, but is he just gonna softpedal despite being my team's clear leader? Damn.
Stage 5: Sinkledamn really came here to play. The KOM jersey isn't much, but it's something. Good work by my probably future CT cobbles leader. Appo with a race high 41st. Good grief.
Overall, we obviously didn't get what we needed, but we probably got around what was expected, if in an unconventional way.
Thanks for the reports roturn!
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy
I owe a big apology to roturn and all the managers of the MG, for not reporting this race. I had a lot of technical difficulties reporting, and I couldn't get it together before I left on holiday. But I don't want to make any excuses. I f***** up and all I can say is that I am sorry
I'm at least happy to see that the race turned out pretty similar to how it did with me. Coppel is a deserving winner
Hoping for Sütterlin to stay in the peloton on all stages and ride a strong TT to get us a good result here to consolidate our Top 5 overall, and maybe Politt and Bevin can supply minor GC points as well.
Okay, nevermind. Sütterlin again not up to the task, a regular sight in the last 3 years or so. Thank god Nils saved our day! Great to see him do this and get into white as well.
Luckily, there were no major surprises on the flat stages to finish this off, so we leave our home race with a good 6th place, albeit not achieved by the rider we expected to. Doesn't matter, points are points, and a jersey is even better!
