Paddy! Another brilliant day in the saddle from our Kiwi.
And Yikui Niu also hanging on until the very end with just 73mo/70hil and being unmaxed, the gamble on a foreign rider late in transfer season is paying off big time.
Tomorrow looks to be the hardest stage of the race though, so we're still far from having won anything here.
I hope we'll get a small break that nobody chases hard, and our two GC guys can position themselves well to at least stay in the peloton until the last KoM.
Sadly, on that note, it looks like we're not interested in showing our jersey in any breaks here, that's entirely unacceptable with this team, even if they'd get dropped early.
I can only hope this means Ganna etc. save their energy for a surprise TT performance.

After 2 hilly stages and a MTF there are still 30 riders within 1 min of the yellow jersey. This just continues to look like a sprinters race.
In all fairness though this is quite close to what we could have hoped for. Trofimov could potentially walk out with a top5.
Congrats on the victory SotD. Lecuisinier should have good chances now. Thanks for another solid report cunego!

I think JJ might have wrong stats in the DB or something. Obviously I didn't expect anything in the mountains, but after terrible hills showings, he just finished a minute BEHIND APPO on a climbing stage, with 70 mtn. He's almost riding like he's injured, which isn't possible since there are no crashes.
Anyway, expected null day for us. Sinkeldam's aggression was nice, but he never had a shot.

Good to see Ivanov in the break as best climber in the team. It is essential that either he or Esmaeli is in the break tomorrow so we can finish high in the KoM.

Survived another day against all odds, Kadri already proving to be a fabulous investment.

Good leadout by Benoot here to secure 3rd on the stage for Wellens. Sadly I hoped for a bigger time difference, but a top 10 in the GC looks doable. Just hoped for more on home turf

Wtf was that... At least we got the bonus seconds and the second place in the stage, but that was disgusting to see. Luckily Kudus isn't horrible at TT, but this means the hilly stage has to be very selective towards climbers (and i'm fearing a breakaway taking both stage and GC right now)

Another crazy hilly stage with lots of random casualties. Kinda sad to see us dominating the main group with 2 climbs to go, only to barely finish within the top10 of the stage. How disappointing.
Anyway congrats on the win CT. Lecuisinier should win this now!

Ivanov the KoM-man. Another bit of points from a race where I has expected and planned nothing.

On paper Lecuisinier could take it in the end with Keinath already one of the best after.
Really interesting scenario possible.
That said, a bit disappointed that all the climbing did not lead to big gaps and the TT now becomes so important. |

I hope the TT doesn't drop Slagter too badly, I would have hoped to be in a stronger position going into it but unfortunately the hill and mountain stages haven't been very selective or in his favour.

Thank you for the report, cunego!
Very weird race with very little happening considering gaps among the GC riders. Had this been any earlier season, this would have been a sensational race so far from Galta considering his hill stat, meaning I can only be happy with where he's at in the GC. Looking at the pure TT stat, he could even break into the top 5, though, our main goal must be to get a top 7, beating Lutsenko in the final TT. |

Well, I ask for aggression, I get it I suppose. Now let's go home.

Thank for the great report !
Wouldn’t be fair to complaint at all, Kadri had a great race despite the fact that he lost today and will lose even more tomorrow.

Rather disappointing so far. EBH should have led the race with somewhat of a margin by now - and Kennaugh should have done better in the sprints.
Looking good for Lecuisinier, unfortunately. |

And Bevin really survived the climbing! Looking to fight for the Top 15 with Gidich now, that'll be really good points.
Niu in a great 24th position atm, although in danger of dropping a few more places.
Regardless, a Top 15 and a Top 30 from such riders will be amazing!

Surprisingly good time trial by Kiflay, not bad for a 76 TT.
We did what we came for, a decent result in the KoM. For a PTHC race without team leader, certainly more points than expected.
Congrats SotD, finally some luck on your side! Thanks for the reports cunego59!

Great result. 3rd by Keinath is a great success in one of the races he leads. Looking forward to his other races as leader/co-leader.
Hagen in my opinion still with a nice 2nd GC as I expected the mountain to beat him heavily even if the hill stages also should have led to some gaps.
Perfect finish for Festina with stage and GC.
Thanks for the nice reports. In especially this nice overview of the live results in the TT. |

5th? After such a race? Yes why not. Pretty good race for Wellens here and nice to see that he can pull this off even though the AI goes against where he's supposed to secure a good result. Not too shabby
