I'll take 7th with a smile, some bonus seconds and we are still in for a fabulous result compared to what we can expect.

Hurray, more crap.

Coquard have managed to finish outside top 10 more often than not. Quite impressive being the best sprinter with the best leadout. Why wouldn’t anyone love that?

WOW A TOP 20!

I have no idea what's going on here.

Building a sprint team for PCM18 might be the worst decision of the off-season. Thank god i knew i was going to relegate anyway so i'm not dissapointed in that

Valentin Madouas!! Smile

He just hung on to last place in the peloton, the only early dropped rider to remain s.t., a great ride from our prospect again. Some more seconds in the second sprint would've been amazing, but he got the job done without them too.

Now for tomorrow, of course we gotta preserve those GC and U25 points, and I'd love to see us have another go at the break, especially with the lower KoM positions still up for grabs. Yikui would be perfect for that.

No more comments on the sprints for now.

I'm no longer expecting Vantomme to do something, but then we should at least try and send someone in the break.

Finally we had a train working. But yeah, the lottery just continues. And wow, Air France are flying in every race they enter, it seems. Congratulations, CT!

For a decent GC overall, I suspect Swift needs a win on the final stage, if not, 10th or a very low top 10 placing seems to be the best we can hope for, which is obviously underwhelming looking at pre-race expectations and hopes. A win could see him snatch a top 5 in the end, which would be a nice surprise seeing how we started this race.

Coquard's (as well as other's) performance(s) are so odd, I can easily understand SotD's frustration. Kinda happy that I will never be amongst the big sprint favorites with Howard (except of maybe in stage races with less sprinters attending). Of course it makes for a somewhat interesting GC constellation, but yeah.. it's far from ideal (even for PCM's standards).

Gustavovskiy
This race is frustrating a lot of people. I think it's due to the stacked sprinting field. It's always been random but with so many strong sprinters you can't expect your men to consistently deliver as you would before, I guess.

Tough luck for Desigual with Zabel's late puncture.

At least we've had superb reports.

Congrats on the win CT!

Well, I just read through some of last year's races, and the comments don't really differ from this year's. There were sprinters not sprinting, trains not forming, "random" results... Is PCM 18 really worse sprint-wise than PCM 15? I can't really say, as I don't have PCM 15, and it's my first MG season.

Of course the race must be disappointing for many managers, but as Gustavovskiy said, the field is really stacked - there are 27 80+ sprinters. The stages so far were won by 82+ sprinters, so definitely no random winners. I agree it's hard to argue why e.g. Zabel did quite well on the first two stages, whereas Vanderbiest or Appo, who have quite similar stats, don't care at all. I guess there are just more good sprinters than PCM can handle in a smart way.

I guess in this field, a zero pointer was always a possibility. Wish Appo at least tried though. At least Asgreen did something.

Thanks for great reports!

As you've reiterated it multiple times: In my opinion Coquard neither is the best sprinter nor has the best leadout. Degenkolb surely is the better sprinter, and your leadout doesn't look fitting either as Stauff and Petit hurt each other way too much if one sprints ahead of another.

Great report Fabianski! And I agree to some of your points, I think there are even fewer sprinters ignored than last year. Obviously sprints are more messy, but it's better than last year where the same 3 riders always had the train no matter how good that train may be.

We got lucky at last here and taking the stage, GC and points jersey is very good for us! Making up for Stallaert dissaster in stage 1 st KBC

Thanks for reporting!

Politt surely was our worst option to send ahead today, but it didn't matter much anyway considering how the stage played out.

Surely I could be mad that we were only present in one of four breaks.
But with us not chasing the title this season, I choose to rather be happy about Madouas using his skills amazingly yesterday to win the one bonus sprint and even get into the mix today to finish 36th on the stage and remain 19th overall thanks to the improved sum of stage placings!
Staying second in the U25 is amazing too and fits perfectly into our team philosophy.

So overall, we leave with very decent points for this lineup and particularly happy about who scored those, even though we were slightly less active than ideal.

As for the top of the GC, it's great for us that mostly PCT and newly promoted PT teams took the big points from this, although we obviously feel for Aker, Festina et al. Congrats Volvo!

Thank you for the brilliant reports Fabianski, you really showcased the close sprints and brought the tension and chaos across very well.

Kireva's great day bringing a KOM and decent overall, all I could ask. Sprint setup failed completely but I leave this race satisfied.

Congratz Viking on the overall and thanks Fabianski once again for the amazing reports.

Good to see us organized on another stage, that's a positive! And also seeing Swift that close to the win is encouraging, just a pity we can't do the first two stages again to improve on the complete lack of performance there Pfft

Big congratulations to viking_90 on the overall win. Ahlstrand is top class, but still a surprise overall win seeing the standings starting the final stage.

And I can only second what others have written about the reports, thank you again, Fabianski!
