Happy to see Hofstetter leading out Groenewegen in a rather unconventional way but glad he can do a job for his team!

Silvestre failed to fight for the win and the bonuses, but at least this was the first sign that he is able to be in front of the race to sprint.
Gesink arrives safe at the end of the stage and avoids wasting time as happened to Morton who seems to have been hopelessly away from the fight for the top places without being very clear why.
Bad luck for the tsmoha and how I understand it ...

Morton being exactly the same kind of rider across all reporters is one of the greatest mysteries of our times.
Nothing to see here for us, Nerz very close to a first scare though.

Hirt safely in the peloton, Turek with a decent try in the breakaway and Chen at least somewhat close to participate in the sprint. Decent stage.
Congrats to Aegon!

At least Howard did well here.
Morton finishing 132nd. Does not look like he cares about the GC here? Maybe he thought he crashed like every year?

That's the kind of sprinting chaos I'm looking for in the Maksimov/Zabel duo. That was fun, regardless of the result (even though 4th isn't terrible).

Oh, Chen just missed on top 10, nice try from him! Hirt once again safely in the pack + a nice try from Danacik, provisional 2nd in KoM is a really decent bonus.
Congrats to Vesuvio, van der Lijke finally delivering!

Funny to see Leung try and fail miserably.
Growenewegen and van der Lijke with very deserving victories. Congrats guys!
Morton, wtf? how is it possible? Thought these sort of random underperformances were to end with the end of crashes...

Congrats SN for finally having vdL to perform well. Great win on a suited terrain.
Groenewegen on a good 2nd with a strong team leadout.
Nice sprint stages and now onto the harder stages for Olivier. |

Perfect timing by van der Lijke! Nice to see his training pay off, eventhough he would have been a contender here even without the training. Congratulations, SN!
8th on such a profile is decent by Holst Enger, but I must admit I hoped for more when reading the final kilometers and the sprinters in contention. But still, these sprint stages have been more of a bonus anyway, as Guldhammer is our big priority here.
And stage 4 really is the key, and hopefully our highlight in this race, as on paper it seems to suit Guldhammer perfect. Hoping we get a selective race, maybe with Lutsenko helping to put pressure early on the GC riders, to make for time gains for the GC riders also going well on hills, like Guldhammer. |

Yes, Van der Lijke! Really nice to see him responding to the training, and bouncing back from last season. Getting that win on the board is very nice, and pretty cool to have managed sprint wins in both clashing stage races.
Stage 4 was quite passive in 2016 and a repeat could give another chance for Van der Lijke. So long as Schleck does his best as well though!
Thanks Aquarius, and others.

Glad to see Horton sprinting. While it doesnt give me any points here it is a small indication that my plan with him could work somehow
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Now the interesting stages start, most important til now is no real time loss, time to take that jersey and keep it now!
Also, great to see Soupe try to sprint!

Or a rider lIke Gesink could try to use it to put some time to Taaramae before the mountains

Argh, too bad there was no gaps there as it looked as though Vasyliv was in a great position to jump into the top 20 GC and atleast 2nd in the U25 competition.
But it is very worrying to see that Chamorro doesn't work whatsoever... 78MO and 75HI is the same as Chiarello, but only Chamorro have a better acceleration... He should be fighting for better positions, and also he should really look to get into breaks having already lost a lot of time. After Morton he is easily the best GC rider in the low end of the result list.
Interesting to see that Hirt works great now, and Moser will look to destroy the competition having both Hirt and Barguil punching above their weight, because of that great acceleration stat.

Good racing by Martin. Loved seeing him attacking, as that is what I want from him this season. No huge gaps, so good to be in that first split. Would of course liked to see him on the podium, but guess he spent too much energy creating the gap. Good first proper stage for him in our colors, hope we'll get even more attacks in the coming days.

Thank god Nerz managed to not lose time there.
The most decisive stage is coming up, so I hope he'll be visible in some form there.

Damn, not the stage Lutsenko was hoping for. Guess the MO/HI ratio was too high, or he was just having a bad day.
Happy with our presence in breaks though! |
