Though we never really had a "fight" around him? Pretty sure, McCormick was a stagiare on your team, yes. Really happy to have him now, could become a favorite of mine 
like every year, we try to not only cover the presence, but also the past achievement's of our riders and team. we started to collect the full individual results for our favorite riders a while ago and it might be of interest for you readers as well. jack bobridge will be the first rider in our procyclingstats.com feature: signed back in 2012, bobridge is simply the most outstanding face of bennelong - mitchelton. after spending one season as a loanee (2013, with simply red bull), bobridge has become our best and most consistent scorer for quite a while now. we would like to show you all his results in those years, he spent with our team - beginning as a young gun in 2012 (his second year as a full-time pro) and going forward from 2014 (our protour promotion campaign, easily bobridge's most impressive year as well).

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Highly appreciated! Probably my most ambitious project, as it takes quite a while to collect every single result and stage informations and stuff. But hey, I need to give you motivation to further improve your already great HQs 
Bobridge had some great achievements indeed. A rather disappointing 2017 campaign though, but still by far our most consistent scorer, obviously. He will hopefully continue like that and maybe finally snatch a ProTour race win at some point except of the Malmo TTT..

@SotD: PCS site, yes. I remember someone promised to do it. It wasn't me though  Would have been awesome indeed, but I guess it's too time consuming..
lachlan morton joined our team (known as oz cycling project back then) in a blockbuster deal prior to the 2015 season - our first year in the protour. after spending his first two years as a professional with quickstep (2013) and jaguar - eritel (2014), the up and coming aussie was an obvious target for oz cycling, which spent more than two million euros to get the deal done.
his three years with our team had some ups and downs then: a rather quiet first protour season had a fantastic ending, when morton would ride to a prestigious (and narrow) tour de l'avenir victory. his best protour result would have been a 15th place at the tour de france - his first gt with us. unfortunately, he would not improve this first gt result in 2016: a couple of crashes made him finish an underwhelming 21st in the vuelta a espana. a season with multiple crashes in key races was kind of saved by a good late season run by lachlan though: 5th at the tour de suisse and a strong 4th at the gp liechtenstein.
and while the 2017 campaign began with a nice victory at the oceanian road championships, morton's protour season kicked off with a disastrous tirreno - adriatico (ttt drama and a crash). also his third different gt with us (the giro d'italia) kicked off with a minor fall, but fortunately, morton did benefit from a rather weak startlist and some consistent performances to finish 3rd in the gc! easily his best result so far, he finally took his first u25 shirt for us (after finishing 2nd in several other races before).. his season ended with another crash desaster at the tour de suisse though, eventually finishing 74th in the gc.

news | season schedules for our leaders
with our management setting a top-3 goal for the giro d'italia, it was quite obvious, that lachlan morton would chose this race as his only grand tour this season. after finishing 3rd in last year's giro (adding his first ever u25 shirt in his time on our team), our goal is to achieve another - our second ever - gt podium. no easy task, but after some hard training in his off season, we're confident that lachlan can achieve another great result in italy.
paris - nice and tour de suisse as his next key races then. after going strong at the tour de suisse two years ago (5th overall), morton had a terrible race last season, when he crashed out of any gc aspirations (finishing as 74th eventually). and also his tirreno - adriatico race was overshadowed by crashes. we obviously hope for him to add two more notable results in addition to his hopefully succesful giro appearance.
his remaining three races will be one day classics, where he will mainly prepare himself for the more important stage races. the pro hallstatt classic though may be a chance to play his mountain skills, even though we can't expect a big result in such races.

when looking at jack bobridge's schedule for the upcoming season, there's one big news: he won't attend at any one day races this year! with races like badaling or lombardia not suiting his skillset anyway, our calendar allowed us to exactly fill bobridge's race days with stage races only. obviously, races like pais vasco (where bobridge rather disappointed last season), tasmania (yet again a win goal) or the scandinavia open road race should fit into our captain's preferred race character.
also tirreno - adriatico had to be a target for bobridge, who will need to gain a few seconds in the prologue there. the ronde van nederland may be more of gamble, but despite such beasty riders like demare being the top favorites for such a race, we do believe that bobridge can play his acceleration to his advantage for valuable bonifications at least.
and then there's our biggest two gambles: two more pthc stage races, of which the newly invented balkans international should become a pure battle between the some of the best puncheurs of two divisions. not his most favorite profile with no timetrial on the menu, but of course we should not forget, that he's a pretty strong puncheur as well.
the even bigger gamble then: volta a portugal! a race, that we never really could bring a real gc contender, despite loving the race itself. it's a risky move, since bobridge will definitely suffer on that late mountain stage. we do hope though, that he will be amongst the strongest in those countless hilly stages (and the two timetrials) - and if everything goes right, to gain valuable time on all climbers, who will fight back on the queen stage. too much of a risk? maybe. but we wanted to be a factor at this race for once.

our second best stage racer, jack haig. after his first gt stage-win at the vuelta last season (finishing 13th in the gc eventually), he will be our obvious pick for those two grand tours, that morton won't ride: la vuelta and the tour de france. the timetrial kilometres at the vuelta should suit him and for the tour, we will bring our best ttt lineup (including two key domestiques for the mountains, ben dyball and brendan canty). the target is clear: top-15 in both races and a stage-win (the ttt maybe?) at le tour.
haig will also support our ttt lineup trying to defend the copenhagen-malmo event and will get to ride the criterium du dauphine libere as maybe his most important key race this year: 85km of tt kilometres, that's a dream come true for someone like jack haig. a top-10 would be great here.
the tour of tasmania as a minor goal to add some points behind our leader bobridge and the gp liechtenstein as an important preparation for la vuelta. we should not expect haig to battle for a top-10/15 here, even though we can't be sure yet, how many premium climbers will attend at the giro this year.

leigh howard's first season with our team and it certainly won't be an easy one. the sprinters competition is heavy this year and a lot will depend on some luck with startlists, we suppose. the vuelta a espana as our grand tour choice then.. no easy action with probably a stacked sprinters field attending, but since we went full ttt for le tour and full morton support for the giro, we decided to throw howard into this first week full of flat roads.
a few obvious races like qatar, praha, gp moscow and our pthc race riga. and since we had some good memories at the lisbon classic (goss most favorite one day classic in our colours), we're happy to get another shot at this pthc event this year. paris - nice will hopefully see some world class sprints not attending and the same goes for our home race in tasmania, where we always used to bring goss (when he rode for oz).

Well at least Morton does get to ride other races, while Schleck is limited to those three! Very interesting decision on Bobridge and Portugal will be fascinating to watch - especially if the AI backs him up with some aggression on those hills. Howard always seems to do well in GTs, often in those the top sprinters avoid. A different challenge for him this year then - with understandable reasoning.

We're not enjoying the many big puncheurs joining the Balkans International.. Hoped the many race days would put PT teams off from joining it, but I guess it was to be expected.
Portugal is super interesting though, I expected a puncheur with a higher MO stat to take that gamble but Bobridge's TT makes up for that. Will follow you there for sure! |

I'm totally stunned by the Bobridge planning. Not having a single one day race on his schedule is a massive surprise to me. I feel like you are losing a ton of value by avoiding all those classics. Each stage race make sense (eventhough nederlands is a huge risk to be very low scoring) but doing all of them might be a bit too gimmicky. I am very curious how well it will work out for you

Thanks for your feedback on mainly Bobridge's planning It's indeed a "gimmicky" move, as knockout pointed out, but I think it's worth a try for once.

the 2018 season is about to begin and we're looking forward to an interesting year, that is pretty hard to predict. obviously, we do hope that our guys will enjoy a succesful season with rather aiming for the top-10 in the protour than ending up in the fight against relegation. no easy job though and a few season predictions see bennelong in a tough campaign probably battling against going down to the pct for the first time since we promoted in 2014.
but anyway, the first month of the season is the first chance to gain points and unlike last season, we do have some ambitiouns for at least the tour of qatar this time: after a probably quiet start into the year in china, where calvin watson and lachlan morton won't be amongst the top-20 contenders in the badaling international, we do hope that leigh howard will somehow find his way into the mix for bonifications in qatar's flat stages. it won't be be easy though and some luck is needed for him to grab crucial bonus seconds somewhere. like every season, we hope to score some minor points through our tt depth for the epilogue then. dennis as our best rider on such short timetrials and maybe he will do better than durbridge and co used to do in the past two seasons.

with the tour of qatar done and dusted, the first month of the season is already over for our team. just two events in january and except of leigh howard as our hopeful sprinter for the tour of qatar, we didn't really have higher expectations for those races, that used to disappoint us in the previous couple of seasons..
unfortunately, things did not really go much better this season. quite a shocking result in badaling (again), with pat lane our best finisher as 43th from a bunch sprint. while we did not put pressure on neither calvin watson nor lachlan morton, a top-20 or top-30 must have been doable in this race.
leigh howard opened the tour of qatar with a somewhat promising 10th place, but could not repeat a single top-10 result in the next four stages. crosswinds would be crucial in this year's qatar edition (where also two breakaway wins would deny the sprinters further stage wins) and only howard and zakkari dempster managed to stay in gc contention until the epilogue: dempster moved up to 13th in the final gc, howard went down to 21st.. dennis could not deliver a top-10 in the stage (finishing 31st in the gc), but glenn o'shea did quite well to go 5th on the day.

the team currently sits on 17th place in the protour rankings' january rankings - which does not come as huge surprise though. obviously, we had hoped for something better coming from qatar, but particularly the sprints did not go as expected.. february will definitely be the more important month for bennelong and it's quite a set of key races already.
the copenhagen - malmo ttt as our first race next month, obviously a target race. with three wins here, we're amongst the record winners for this event and despite losing durbridge (and ford already one year ago) we would love to at least fight for another podium finish. it won't be easy, but it's possible on a good day from our lads.
tirreno - adriatico as jack bobridge's first race of the season then. obviously a very important race and anything but a top-5 would be a huge disappointment after he already did not really shine in last year's paris - nice! speaking of this french race, we are awaiting lachlan morton's first key race with quite some thrill. he may not be amongst the top favorites for the gc, but we simply have to aim for at least a top-5 in all of morton's stage races this year.
grand-duché, milano san ramo and the new pro hallstatt classic only make for some additional race days, where our guys will hopefully show our colours in breakaways or with some surprising/lucky results. morton with an attempt to be a factor in the partly hilly, partly mountainous hallstatt classic: hard to say, where he will end up there. obviously, we're hoping for a rather mountainous outcome there.

Well, had not too many alternative options for Morton's racedays matrix, so Hallstatt does at least come with a mountainous touch. Not expecting too much though, but some points would be helpful afterall! A bit of a pity, that we went for those PTHC bands, that do not suit Morton, but time will tell, if we went too far towards Bobridge with our bands there.
