Okay so how did Nibali go from making the leading split, to losing 9 minutes on the stage...

That is at least somehow better from Velits, finally. Nice to see Howard surviving the stage, but it will be likely hard to keep the field together for a sprint. Spilak is a beast.

That's better, that's better... But let's be honest: only a breakaway could make Morton climb to a notable stage result

Dominant stuff from Grosu. Poor Howard..
Kinda funny that our only rider captured by cameras... was a dropped rider

Hmm, not a likeable image seeing Grosu beating Howard so easily. 2nd is not too bad though, great to be able to see a sprint finish for victory. Congrats Avin.

Nice win from Grosu here. Metinvest are putting up a great fight for that 4th place at the moment.
Howard doing decently aswell, getting Becherovka close to Vesuvio in the overall rankings. If Velits can keep doing well on the final two stages Becherovka could be back in the lead.
Spilak getting some nice, but rather surprising extra points here. If he can keep his game up in the final two mountain stages this race could bounce us right back into the battle for the lead (atleast for a short period of time). So all fingers and toes are crossed. It would be amazing to have a three-way battle going into the final 6 races of the season.
EDIT:
Ohh and thanks for doing the reports so fast. It's a real joy to login to the site to see a stage every 12 hour or so

What a fantastic effort from Rein, I definitely wasn't expecting him to make it into the top 3, so fantastic work there. Although with 2 mountain stages left, I'm expecting Alarcon and others to fight back

Spilak is rather consistent this season I'd say, another very good stage win on stage 3. Congratulations, SotD!
Very happy to see Martin do a lot better on that mountain stage compared to stage 2 as well, climbing to 8th overall is good. Encouraging from Galta as well, eventhough he couldn't quite catch the early breakaway with his mid-stage attack.
It feels like Metinvest are on a roll at the moment, looking at stage 4, which could prove challenging considering the battle for a top 5 overall. Nice to see a talent like Grosu pull of the win though.
Will be interesting to see the final two mountain stages. Spilak looks safe, but the three riders closest to him should have a nice fight for the podium places. Hopefully Martin can be able to climb a place or two.
And thanks a lot for the fast and good reporting! |

Great ride from Madrazo to overtake Rein there, but Rein has now hopefully secured third, unless Alarcon decides to do something spectacular

Great stage from Ruijgh. Could have been a stage win too if the break would have stayed in front.
As for the rest of my race so far - nationality bonus my ass.

Can't win it all. 3rd is decent looking at the huge gap of the breakaway, and keeping up with Madrazo was good, when he was clearly stronger today.
The mountains jersey was lost, but we cant expect to get that. I cross everything for that final stage. A stagewin would be amazing, but the GC is clearly the most important thing.

Nice effort, shame he couldn't utilize it better since it looks like another failed goal, promising though.

Nibali performs every race as if he is injured from a crash. Oh well, at least Saggiorato put in a good ride in the breakaway, although it is a shame they couldn't capitalize on the 8 minute gap to hold off the big names.
Good ride from Faiers! And thanks for the reports!

Another good performance from Martin, climbing a place in the GC, and also sensing weakness from Dekker and Marquez. Hopefully he can deliver another good stage on the final one.
A pity for Madrazo his brilliant ride wasn't awarded with the stage win, but well done to Faiers for keeping the favourites behind him on the final climb. Congrats, beagle!
And thanks for a nice report, trekbmc! |

Wow these reports coming in fast! Too bad Timofey Kritskiy had to attack on the descent @stage 3 to make his way up to the front split of the peloton, this apparently cost a lot of energy that day, and now with only one stage left it will be hard to enter the top-10.

Great stage win from Grosu in the 4th stage, it seems that almost every race brings us some joy in the few latest weeks.
Iirc correctly, that is his first PT win and it makes up for unlucky Avenir. He dropped from the race in stage 5, but no problem, he had the job done and in what a fashion, smashing Howard by several bike lenghts and pulling a Hulk celebration.
Congrats to Pokerstars and Festina so far! Thanks for the reports.

Well, a better day from Morton, even though I had secret hopes for a mid-stage attack - especially when I read his name early in the report
17th in GC is about what I expected him to do. Could have been worse after his poor fifth stage, but so it could have been better if he hadn't lost those big minutes. At least a few points...

Phew! That was a bit too close really.
1, 1, 3, 3, 6, 7 on the stages, the overall win, points jersey, 3rd KOM, 4th team and 10th Youth.
Cant complain about that.
With the overall win I also reach 5/5 goals, as I had top 3 here, and have top 10 overall PT for the last.
