This route just looks weird to me. I love the medium hilly stages as they always seem to create action but the MT finishes are absolutely horrible this year. Just horribly easy and not going to test anyone in the field who has a chance to win.
Thus either a rouge break will take a bunch of time on one of the hilly stages or it will all come down to the TT. They both suck in my opinion.
The fact they got scared of weather in the high mountains either means just fucking move the race or how about you understand thats what this race is about and the riders buck up and ride or dont show up.
I love the Giro but holy fuck this is garbage. |

Well, the fact that there aren't any really scary stages might mean that they actually attack eachother on every mountain stage instead of waiting for the big one like what happens sometimes. |

Fantastic preview Stromeon!
I quite like the route, but as you say, it misses one more queen stage. I am looking forward to Stage 14 the most, sucha long TT can be really crucial with guys like Contador and Porte on the startlist. I agree with gotlandrules that maybe not so hard MTFs can mean bigger action and not usual waiting for last two kilometres, Hesjedal-Purito style.
For me, it is solely between Contador and Porte, who both have incredible mountain train (sadly with two czechs, who have both fallen down on popularity for me rapidly in recent months).
Aru and Uran can be close, i wonder if Aru will pull a miracle from ilness to dopery...ehm...victory.

The a) pink jersey and b) Giro trophy suggests his prediction is a GC win for Contador

I just saw the Spanish flag and thought it was the vuelta, I really need to proof-read my posts/evidence. |

FroomeLite.exe confirmed for Giro. Gotta squeeze out the most out of it before it ends I guess. |

I'm guessing that FroomeLite.exe is Zakarin?
Excited to see what he can do. He has yet to show super-strength in the mountains, but that ITT should really fit him.

He was one of the strongest (if not the strongest) on the Eibar-stage which more or less was the only 'real' climb in the Basque country and was the second best on the big climb in Romandie, so I wouldnt be afraid of his climbing skills
Just dont think he can last and keep it going in the third week, much like what has been Portes problem. |

I love the route. Very evenly distributed between flat, mountain and hilly stages + 50K TT. Could've done with one mountain stage not finishing atop a climb though the Aprica stage is probably that. |

Zakarin should probably be a 3 star rider instead of van den Broeck based on the results so far. Also I don't really see why Intxausti should be mentioned as a 3 star rider either. He doesn't have the most impressive palmares this season to be honest. He did OK in smaller spanish races, but DNF in Paris-Nice and 30th in Pais Vasco while teammate Izagirre podiumed is not good at all. You might as well have Bongiorno as a 3 star favorite then
BTW I would put Battaglin as a notable rider, probably Slagter aswell. Battaglin has won a stage in two consecutive Giro's.
On a final note: Alexandre Geniez should probably be mentioned as one of the 2 star favorites I think. He came 13th last season in the GC, and he comes with a fresh win from Tro-Bro Léon only a month ago.
Besides that it is an absolutely brilliant preview, which was a very nice read indeed!

Really hoping George Bennett and Steven Kruiswijk can do something for Lotto NL Jumbo, along with Hofland in the sprints.
