The more Uran improves in TT more he will suffer on mountains. And with Nibali and Contador it will not be easy like this year for him.

In other news, Gazetta (and logically speaking all) think Maxim will confess to doping on Monday or Tuesday. This allows Astana to race Tour of Almaty ( only pro Kazakh race ) and will mean they don't have to miss the season opener at Tour Down Under, since they will serve their suspension on the next WT race, being Tour of Bejing.
On the other hand I heard that there is an important cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, so they don't want to miss Beijing because of those publicity/political reasons and would rather try to postpone the B sample analysis so they will skip TDU.
Told you

So they just revealed the route and it is indeed easier than previous years. It should be very close until the last week and the long ITT. The Giro that is, btw.

That statement is bull. Improving in TT doesn't neccesarily mean declining in once mountain skills. |

Giro Route - Profiles (click to enlarge) and some tidbits of analysis and thoughts:
Stage 1:
Summary: TTT; meh.
Stage 2:
Summary: Flat.
Stage 3:
Summary: Has potential but doubt anyone would succesfully attack on the last climb
Stage 4:
Summary: Very interesting hilly stage, especially early on, but quite short.
Stage 5:
Summary: No San Pellegrino in Alpe = borefest.
Stage 6:
Summary: Flat with a few bumps
Stage 7:
Summary: Longest stage in a GT since 1995
Stage 8:
Summary: Dull, consistent and not really steep MTF that doesn't really add anything.
Stage 9:
Summary: Difficult hilly stage, should be interesting (although worthy of a Sunday?)
Stage 10:
Summary: Flat
Stage 11:
Summary: Breakaway
Stage 12:
Summary: Murito; though last 30kms could potentially be interesting
Stage 13:
Summary: Scheldeprijs, but flatter.
Stage 14:
Summary: VERY long and probably pretty technical TT. Think TT from two years ago.
Stage 15:
Summary: Already knew about this. Not a great MTF.
Stage 16:
Summary: Pretty cool stage, nice to see Mortirolo - Aprica combo (even if overused blah blah) although all climbs bar Mortirolo are really not that steep so not as hard as it first looks
Stage 17:
Summary: Waste of space, though there are worse flat stages.
Stage 18:
Summary: A descent finish!! Climb is around 10km @ 9% so plenty of opportunity for things to happen here.
Stage 19:
Summary: Decent, but could have been sooo much better.
Stage 20:
Summary: See previous stage. No climbs before Finestre is criminal.
Stage 21:
Summary: The usual parade.
Positives:
- First week in general looks really promising, a nice variety of stages
- 60km ITT!
- Verbania stage
- Mortirolo stage (a reluctant positive)
- It's quite balanced, for a change (in terms of Mountains-TT balance), pure climbers will need to attack, especially given the MTFs that are there.
- Seems less backloaded than several recent editions (although still is backloaded, but Giro always is to some extent)
- Mountain stages aren't all chained together, meaning that riders shouldn't be waiting for the last out of a trio etc.
Negatives:
- Opening TTT (TTTs are always a negative)
- Abetone without anything beforehand.
- Finestre stage could have been so much better.
- MTFs are all rather weak (this is probably a good thing, it's just the horrible memories of what happened the last time we had a GT with weak MTFs still reside in my brain)
- No real killer multi-mountain queen stage.
Overall, I'm actually quite pleased with the route. The organisers seem to have finally taken note of the worrying trend of 'leave everything till the last climb and attack with between 3km and 1km to go' and seem to have made a concerted effort to design stages that give the opportunity to attack before the final climb (Mortirolo + St-Panthaleon + Finestre etc). Also there seem to be some well-designed hilly stages in there (eg stage 4 + stage 9).
8/10 (an extremely generous mark by my standards)
Now we just have to see who turns up!

just give the money to Adam Hansen, he'll probably complete all 3 GT's yet again were as Contador, Nibali, Quintana, Froome et al will only ride 1 or 2. |

The Tour de Suisse route of 2015 is known, and it features a mtf at the Rettenbachgletscher near Sölden: altitude of 2795m (!!!) and a killing climb of 14.7km at 9.8% average and 15% maximum. Probably one of the most difficult climbs in Europe (and the world)!!

Nah, IAM said that they prefer being a PCT team.

If UCI enquiries themselves you can't refuse too much though ;D
Europcar preferred to be a PCT last year until UCI asked them to step up. I am sure the benefits then outweigh staying in the PCT.
