sutty - Yep things can only get more exciting
Shonak - Indeed I'm sure he'll see his fair share of action over his career
Ian - Yep nothing went wrong!
Ollfardh - Hopefully as the story goes on you'll see some satirical pokes at Sky and the way the team is run Thank you
Have a bit of free time today so I'll upload another report - don't expect it to go this quick most of the time though.

Vuelta a Mallorca | Stage 2: Campos - Ses Salines | 2.1 |
Today's profile is very similar to yesterday's, so collectively we decided to take it easy again and wait for the important hilly stage tomorrow. I found a nice rhythm in about the second quarter of the peloton and pedalled away.
A slightly slower pace gave me a chance to admire some of Mallorca's scenic landscapes
With 10km to go there was a nasty pile-up at the back of the peloton, fortunately I was riding near enough to the front to avoid it!
David Lopez, too, was another victim of not looking quite where he was going - he sustained some nasty injuries and unfortunately had to abandon.
This time it was the Spanish champion Ventoso who claimed victory in a chaotic sprint, with Salvatore proving he has a great kick at the end to finish 5th.

Lopez doesn’t look in great shape and the doctors told us that he’d be out for a month or so, here’s wishing for a speedy recovery!
Looking forward to tomorrow's stage, although it will be tough with just 5 riders left on the team.

Vuelta a Mallorca | Stage 3: Deia - Lluc | 2.1 |
Today is the queen stage of the Vuelta a Mallorca, and all eyes will be towards Nibali, Contador, Betancur et al to see what possible fireworks they can provide on the day’s major obstacle, the aptly named Coll de Puig Major.
As soon as we were underway and out of the start town of Deia, the climbing started! With just five men in the team we’re not looking to do anything adventurous and won’t have much hope of controlling the race, we’ll just see how it goes.
The opening few kilometres were chaotic as some good climbers tried to get in the break - even Luis Leon Sanchez had a go! The pace was high, but a couple of descents were there to alleviate worry, I found myself near the front due to my decent downhilling ability.
Scenery!
A break of six pretty strong climbers formed, including people like Vorganov and Brambilla, and the peloton was united in its efforts to keep the break within about two minutes’ reach. This meant the pace was once again incredibly high throughout the day and I felt like I was struggling to hold on.
On the 2nd category Coll de Soller small groups of pseudo-favourites started to make some moves so we put our man Ian Stannard at the front of the group to set a rigid tempo.
The downhill section was my time to shine - I must say I got quite a thrill from leading the pack with great champions like Alberto Contador lurking somewhere behind my shoulder.
As we hit the foot of the climb I dropped back into the pack and the attacks started coming. Here you can see Cadel Evans being shadowed by Richie Porte.
Soon the group fractured and I found myself going quite well, embedded in the middle of the second group. Porte and Siutsou were going really well tapping out a pace at the front of the lead group though.
Carlos Betancur made a big attack at the summit of the climb, searching for a solo win.
Following a short descent, a lead group of 5 riders formed, containing Betancur, Nibali, Dan Martin, Kwiatkowski and Siutsou, who was feeling better than Porte and chose to venture on ahead. This quintet had an advantage of just under a minute to the next group of favourites.
Nibali proved to have the most left in the tank as he beat off Betancur and Kwiatek for top spot. You can see Kosta just behind this trio, he finished 4th with no time gap given, a pleasing result.
I came across the line just under four minutes later, happy with my efforts and pleased to be reflecting on a good day's work.

Woah, some amazing images in that stage. Especially screenshot 1 & 3 are awesome.
Good race by the Champ who performed well for himself despite the helper duties, and he had a chance to show off his downhilling too. Not particulary saddened that Porte didn't finish with the first riders though.

sutty, Ian - Yep the management must be pleased to have him onboard
Shonak - Thanks The management might give him a bit of a freer role in later races in the season, but then again it is Sky... Well, he can't always be on the dope, can he?

Vuelta a Mallorca | Stage 4: Alcudia - Playa de Muro | 2.1 |
Today's profile looks quite tough, but a long flat section after the hills will most likely negate any gaps that might have been built up earlier.
I wanted to go on the attack today and join the break but I was ordered not to by the DS, he told me I was needed to help protect Kosta’s 5th place in the GC and do some work on the front again. So I had a nice chat with Salvatore (the one with the purple shades) about what it was like to live in Italy - such a beautiful country I’m told!
This stage sees us complete the latter part of yesterday’s stage in reverse - a long descent down the Coll de Puig Major which we climbed yesterday, before an ascent of the other, more difficult side of the Coll de Soller. It was at the foot of this climb that Kosta told us he was feeling pretty good today, perhaps we could try and do something to gain him some time.
I led the charge, with the others just behind me - we were flying up this hill! The gap to the break, which had stabilised at around the 6 minute mark, was down to 4 minutes in no time at all.
In the end, nothing came of it - we decided it was too far out to try an attack, with still over 40km to go until the finish, but we had reduced the group down to about 70 riders, although no doubt some would recover before the finish.
Luis Leon Sanchez launched an ambitious attack on the flat still with 30km to go, but since he'd had a disastrous day yesterday and lost nearly ten minutes we decided to let him go. He didn't make it to the finish, though.
The break recovered strongly, and although Katusha and Lotto set a fast pace towards the end, Pieter Vanspeybrouck hung on to steal the stage win from the sprinters, despite a field-demolishing effort from Greipel the Gorilla!
Feeling tired after doing quite a bit of work on the front today, I drifted out the back of the peloton at the finish, my legs having decided to give up
Overall, Siutsou and Porte retain their respective 5th and 6th places, and I finish 41st, with a time loss of just 5’14. Safe to say I’m pleased with my efforts, but I’ll have to step it up for the World Tour races ahead!

Very pleased to have finished my first race intact with no injuries to report, apart from several aches and pains. The fact that the team got a good result in a race we came into with low expectations also helps, I guess.
Now I have a long lay-off before my next race, about a month or so, so when I'm not training I'll have to find something to do, be it socialising, womanising etc.

The champ proved that he can be of good use for the team.

Thank you all again for positive comments, I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of people following so far!
sutty - Indeed, rather sums the tour up - good practice but hard work
andy222c - I heard that somewhere as well I'm sure he'll get on just fine...

After we’d finished racing in Mallorca I decided I would go and meet my aunt and uncle in Italy. I telephoned my parents, back in Bhutan, who gave me their address, they lived in the town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, in northern Italy. I would take a plane from Mallorca to Treviso-Sant’Angelo Airport, from there it was a scenic two-hour journey by rental car to Cortina, nestled deep in the Dolomites. Staying here for a couple of weeks, I would be able to get some great training done, with the Giau, Falzarego and Tre Croci passes all literally on my doorstep.

Important Race Results
| Tour of Qatar | | Mark Cavendish | | Tour of Oman | | Ryder Hesjedal | | Volta ao Algarve | | Simon Spilak | | Vuelta a Andalucia | | Joaquim Rodriguez | | Omloop Het Nieuwsblad | | Fabian Cancellara | | Clasica de Almeria | | Jonathan Hivert | | GP di Lugano | | Peter Sagan | | Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne | | Tom Boonen |
February was an extremely disappointing month for Team Sky. Kosta’s 5th place in Mallorca was easily the best result we achieved in the month; he also performed well in Oman, taking 2nd place on the Green Mountain stage behind eventual winner Ryder Hesjedal, but then losing time in a silly fashion on the next stage, which meant he ended up 12th.
Elsewhere, in the Volta ao Algarve, we had a good time-trial, with Geraint Thomas, Dario Cataldo and Bradley Wiggins all finishing inside the top 10, but that was not enough to rescue the tour after a disastrous third stage. Wiggins the highest placed rider 10th overall.
The Omloop was cataclysmically awful - Geraint Thomas salvaged a 15th place from somewhere but Boasson Hagen and Stannard at 5 minutes down outside the top 50 is just not acceptable. The other news from the Omloop, apart from that Fabian Cancellara has got his season proper off to a cracking start, was that Sylvain Chavanel suffered a horrific crash, and will be out until the end of May with a fractured skull, so no more cobbles for him this year.
On the home injury front, Chris Froome suffered a freak broken neck accident after looking abruptly down at his power meter. He will not recover until the end of March so will miss Tirreno-Adriatico, an important warm-up race for him.
On the rankings side of things, I’ll only look at the CQ ranking, as that’s the best indication of what’s been going on this month.
CQ Ranking - Individual
1 | | Gianni Meersman | Omega Pharma - Quick-Step | 606 | 2 | | Mark Cavendish | Omega Pharma - Quick-Step | 338 | 3 | | Andrey Amador | Movistar Team | 288 | 4 | | Tony Gallopin | RadioShack-Leopard | 287 | 5 | | Giovanni Visconti | Movistar Team | 272 |
CQ Ranking - Team
1 | | Omega Pharma - Quick-Step | 1650 | 2 | | Movistar Team | 1340 | 3 | | RadioShack - Leopard | 1036 | 4 | | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | 919 | 5 | | Garmin - Sharp | 727 |
Chris Froome's injury throws his preparation for the Tour de France right off course - hopefully he'll recover sooner rather than later.
