Strange to see Vesely not even trying. I don't think it's because of our GC focus, because we had the same leaders in Tachira, where he did participate in the sprints.
Anyway, it was nice to see Atkins in the breakaway on stage 2. A shame he couldn't stay in the peloton and enter the GC top 10 for a day or two, though.

No doubt I overpaid. Starting to believe that a stagiare wage would be more fitting |

Great report there for the finale on stage 2...even though Guarnieri was perfectly positioned and should have won from where he was, you had me on edge right until the line.
Enjoyed stage 3 too - a first ever sprint train for Vespa. Something new to see.
I think Roelandts going to be pretty much unstoppable now in sprints here - just hope Guarnieri spends the rest of the race following his wheel and you never know.... |

Bazajev is doing a amazing job, and I hope he'll continue to not go for the intermediate sprints since I guess that's the reason why his late kick is such a force against clearly superior opponents. I'm really looking forward to stage 5, he might be able to get himself over those climbs

Lorenzetto slightly under performing. I think this Langkawi business will be a waste of racedays.

The problem is more that if you buy a top sprinter, you're also going to need a competent enough leadout man, else you're in trouble!

Indeed.
While it might not always be the best to have a train as those riders tend to go early, if you don't even have a rider hypothetically able to stay at the front until 1.5k or closer, you're definitely in trouble.

Yeah, you are right. I just don't understand why Lo Cicero can't do like in Qatar, to jump on the other sprint trains? Guess it's because we are one of the favourite teams and the AI-sprint favourites are in some way forced to make a train?
I'm completely aware of my own lack of leadout mans, but therefore I relied on him to take the other good contenders whell, in this casevRoelands or Guarnieris, but it seems he'll rather want to have is own mini-train.
The conclusion is that the estimated point scorer for me this year is not giving me any points, so yes, I'm in big trouble |

Yeah, I think who is forming trains is related to the sprinter's abilities rather than to the possible train quality.
Sure, latching onto other trains is a completely different thing, but an 84 sprinter is obviously not relying on that too often.
I understand your approach, but it might be the reason for these results instead of just the game AI.

And there we have it, a flat enough stage for a competent enough leadout! Quite good to see Roelandts take the race lead to prevent any sort of race leader bonus getting in the way with the Genting GC fight

Looks like the winning form this year is to complain. |
