From 4th to 18th... Bad sprint for us.
And Davis still looking for his first win. Not the best season for him so far.
I will get so many sprinters the next seasons. So I need to figure out how to avoid race clashes with sprinters and riders like Bellis and Geschke next season... |

Wow! I am impressed with Greipel and Pineau. They are performing like they are completely different riders this season. At least they have in their races so far. If Greipel keeps the leader jersey after the time-trial, I'm shocked. My bet is Gerdemann or Cornu in the lead after the TT.

Haha well that was always going to happen when he looks the wrong way to see if anyone was there! no the less really happy with 2nd just wished for more time gaps but no worries as Durasek can hold his own in a TT |

Yeah, you always suspect these sorts of finishes don't really play out that well where the real slope is in the last kilo or so.
Funny finish really, not seen that celebrate and not win that often to be honest. The real winners are the TTers as mresuperstar says, they just sat it out in the pack.

I expected a bit bigger time gaps but in general something like this. Geschke could have done better today tbh. But with Velits, Zabalo and Tendero still there I might be able to grab a top10 after the time trial. Then I just have to hope for a similar scenario on the 2nd uphill sprint.
And sending Cucinotta was clearly a mistake as Geschke most likely will never sprint on the flat stages even though he would perform much better than Cucinotta on the harder flat stages... |

Things are going just according to the plan
- I hope that Zabriskie can win the TT and then I can only hope that he'll stay in sight with the hilly guys.

Love my team here, we're always in the spotlights. Teunissen super aggressive today, Elijzen was up there and Lorenzetto hangs on. Bring on the TT!

Quite bad day. We learned there is long way to the Pro Continental Teams, and Lasse showed there is long way until he reached his maximum. We hope to see some better results the following days, and hopefully participate in a couple of breakaways. |

This was the kind of finish I was expecting but 70 riders on same time exceeds my prediction by a substantial margin. I mean Cornu and Dave Z with the pack is one thing but van Winden as well? That's a surprise. I hope the next hilly stage provides more differences.
Let's see who wins this thing then. Zabriskie has the pressure on his shoulders and Cornu on his heels. ING will be looking for nothing less than a victory tomorrow.
Congrats to Hollister too. Even with Davis on vacations they know how to capture these wins.
As to my team I'm satisfied. This is the sort of behaviour I'd hope Plaza would have.
And once again, very good report Mre, loved this pic:

Pretty much what I expected there. Not enough top puncheurs to really tear this apart so it comes down to the TT. Cornu needs a top 2 finish tomorrow and he should be capable of that.

Silly finish, where ten points lower punchers stayed with the best, i dont like these stages. But great report and screens especially, some real beauties.
Popkov with great 5th place, but it seems to me that he would have chance of win if being better positioned. He is like 20th at one of the last pictues and than bang fifth on the line, he was one of the fastest in the end probably. I hope he will crack top 10 after TT and than some TT specialists could be dropped, but not with similar stage.

No real selection today, but it did favor AMEX. Michael Kurth rode with the breakaway and moved up to 9th on the GC. Carlos Barredo did exactly what we signed him to do, atack on the hills. As expected our sprinters lost time but that is of zero concern. They will have 2 more easy days before they race again and Griepel will have to race everyday in between.
Tomorrow's time trial could be quite interesting. It had not been expected to be very decisive but with Zabriskie and Cornu ready to launch and 60 riders clustered under 30 seconds behind, the TT could be very interesting.
AMEX has 2 riders to watch in the TT. Patrick Gretsch is our best but well off Zabriskie and Cornu. He will be shooting for an top 10. Barredo is a solid TT rider and will need to move up the GC standing if he is to have any chance at a top 5 finish.
Looking forward to the TT.

Obvious winner today. 4 in todays top20 and 3 in the top15 GC for me now.
Had hoped that 1-2 would be top10 afterwards but riders like Gretsch or Van Winden stayed too long at the first uphill stage.
Velits, Zabalo and Tendero might all be able to improve when others lose contact on the next stages.
Geschke is a big disappointment tbh. Either due to bad positioning on the uphill finish or due to the fact that he isn`t sprinting even if Cucinotta won`t have a real chance. I am afriad of the next stages in especially as they should suit Geschke a lot but I doubt he will hang behind the best sprinters then. |

Now I hope that Zabriskie will have a good day on the final hilly stage and deliver the first great win for ING!

Very pleased with Patrick Gretsch' time trial - finished 4th just 5 seconds off the podium. Zabriski and Cornu put themselves is great positions to stay on the podium. It will be up to thier teams to control the race on stage 5.
With no KOM points on stage 5, Kurth will probably hold back, but Gretsch will should go for the break but that is not his nature. With 2 flat stages still to come AMEX's sprinters will be conserving energy. Fabien Taillefour will stay with the sprinters to protect them from disaster.
As we expected that leaves Carlos Barredo currently in 17th place and +1'25 behind Zabriskie. Look for Carlos to attack in the 2nd half of the race well before the final climb. AMEX expects Zabriskie to attack before the final climb and Barredo will do his best to be ready for that move.
Barredo is not in a position to win this race but he could move up into the top 10 with a well placed attack, and you never know pelotons have miscalculated in the past.

Happy with that, just as planned. Now to hold on to that GC place. Vandousselaere in the top 15 and 2nd in young rider classification is just magnificent too!

Can't hide my disappointment with Plaza's TT. He was always going to lose time on the top TTists but the differences to the likes of Gerdemann, Izagirre and Durasek, who are better puncheurs, don't match our standards for this event.
It isn't the best position we're in but everything's up for grabs in this next stage, just hope it works in the best way for us, although the probability isn't the highest. Gerdemann and Izagirre are in pole position for the assault on Zabriskie's lead.
btw got to express my gratitude to fintas once again. That TT gear just looks awesome.

3 former Jack Wolfskin riders in the top 5 of the stage. Not bad
