That seems like a really cool way to kick off the Giro, maybe you could give Acquarone some tips for the real Giro

Fabulous screens and nice first stage.
Oh, and thanks tons for the Melbourne TT! Replacing the boring Buninyong course now.

Stage two of the Giro finished.
Starting out from yesterday's host town, Porto Tolle, the riders will head inland on this stage, climbing the quite steep Monte Faedo on the way to Padova. Also on this stage there's a small criterium, but this time it's just in the finale, with a loop inside the finish city. Without doubt another mass sprint stage.

Stage three starts out from the outskirts of Padova and finishes in Mantova after another basically pan flat stage. There are two climbs on the route though, however they both feature early in the stage. Third and last opportunity for the sprinters in a while as we hit harder terrain on day four.

That's really... flat. Too much flat for the Giro. Are you sure you aren't fooling us saying it's a Giro variant?
Actually, it resembles a lot the 2012 Giro. Flat as a pancake for the first three stages, Cav wins, then Goss wins... is Phinney crashing non-stop as well?

Actually, pretty much all the flat stages look similar to this. On some there are one or two more climbs, and on for example on stage twelve there are bigger climbs, but other than that, they're all quite similar. Hopefully that's not any major problem.

The last few days have been pretty busy for me, after returning to school on Thursday. Anyway, here's the next stage of the Giro.

Another hilly stage follows, with a lot more climbing on the route. The finish is in Montecatini Terme, below the day's final climb, Montecatini Alto, which, together with the penultimate hill, really opens up some gaps on the steep gradients.

The first week's penultimate day is another flat stage, where the GC contenders can rest a bit for the upcoming time trial. This stage follows the west coast pretty much all the way from start to finish, except for a digression to climb up to Volterra. Can be a very windy stage.

I wonder if the hill is long enough to drop some riders, but I don't know. What did you experience?
Oh and looks as good as always! |
