That alone, made this years game better than the one last year. Still I won't buy it this year, I got the 2012 update for PCM11 and the plan to only buy one game every 2 years. Seems to be a good one, based on the rest of the comments of this topic and the other topics on this site.

At the moment the game does NOT change the route every year.
Cyanide plans to release variants for certain races but it has not realeased yet.
You would need to install a third party DB to play with variants.
But this is not a reason to buy the game since even PCM 2010 supports variants.

I never said it did not, seems I misunderstood the first person, since i thought the new game had it's own variants again. But form the looks of it, that is not how it is.
Which is rather sad to be hornest.

Sad but understandable. 21 stages can occupy about 150 MB, and that's 1 variant for 1 GT, and Cyanide doesn't have the space in the disk to add several variants. And honestly I don't think it's such a bad thing, download a DB with variants and it's done

Or maybe they should go for making the game a download only game, it saves us from having dices all over the place and it remove the problem with space.
I find it very bad, that they can't make variants inside the game, they made it for some of the older games. Insteed it look like they only care for better graphics, then actually do something for the players.
What i want to know, is how many people that are playing this game, and more importantly are they losing or gaining more players per year. Anyway, sorry for making this post that is major off topic.
To the first poster of this topic, I would say wait for next year or maybe a year more, before you buy a new one. For now Pcm10 is more than good enough.

But of course, having the games in store is merchandising. A lot of people can not know the game but see it in a store and be interested in it. And if they would add 1 variant for each GT plus 1 variant for most WT races, that's at least 700 MB. The download is already slow and frustrating enough with all the corrupt downloads to add 3/4 GB.
They included variants in older games because the stages were solely an xml file, averaging 40 kbs each. After PCM10, the stages were now .zces files, averaging 6, 7 MBs each. Thus one PCM10-after stage corresponds to about 160 PCM09-earlier stages. As for they not caring to do something for the players, you do know they'll release a pack with 100+ variant stages, right?
I'd guess that they have more players each year, but I haven't got any detailed info on that. Oh and btw, I agree that they should care and listen to the players much more, but races variants isn't exactly and example of this.
Edit: forgot to mention: they changed the stage system in PCM10 because of asks from the community: better graphics, easier to make stage editor, real terrain, etc.
