I'm just starting the Giro in the third season, with Duarte as my leader. He's got great support from Quintana, Pantano and Dani Diaz in the mountains. This variant is so stupidly hard that I'm not bothering with a sprinter, so almost the whole team are climbers! I'm holding back on the sprinters to take four to the TDF!!
Well, the race couldn't really have started any better. The first stage was hilly and a break of 5 stayed away, including Guama for us, he finished second. Brilliant. Stage two was a MTT, won by Scarponi, but both Duarte and Quintana were in the top 5 and Guama moved up from 3rd to 2nd in the overall, with just Roux ahead of him.
Stage 3 was flat but there was a huge crash near the end which took down Roux, so Guama took the Maglia Rosa!!
Stage 4 was a mountain stage that was over 250km long (), but Guama managed to hang on and still leads the race. Duarte also finished third on the stage. Overall, Duarte is in fourth and Quintana is in the top ten aswell. I have the leader's, climbers' and young riders' jerseys. Decent start!

Unfortunately, with PCM, yes it is normal!! I've lost count of the amount of crashes I've had.
Does it crash when you click on load game? If that's the case, it's a corrupt save and you'll have to delete the save and load a backup of the save. There are plenty of guides on this website if you search for corrupted save or something like that.

Thanks for the reply, I'll search for that right away.
If I can't get it back though, which team would be best for me to be?
I like smaller teams with young riders in who I can progress and watch get better, any suggestions? |

I would always back up your save manually every so often but the game does make a weekly backup too so at worst you can use one of those and lose only the last few days of your save. |

Seeing as I can't get my old save back. I've decided to start again. This time as United Healthcare! Sutherland came 7th in the Aussie Champs so lets hope this puts him in good stead for the TDU. |

i did LBL is classic mode, trying to win with Rodriguez. I made only 1 move with him trying to save as much energy as possible. I attacked on penultimate climb, catching Costa who was already leading for over 75 km. A very strong Evans countered my attack. So behind us Gilbert launched his first attack to come in the 1st group taking Cunego with him. Those 4 went to the finish in Liège Gilbert was in front of the group Rodriguez in his wheel. Evans riding like an asshole totally alone on the other side of the road and Cunego already cracked before the uphill sprint started. Sprint started: Gilbert just started sprinting and Rodriguez exploded his legs where totally empty. Evans looked to pass his teammate but also Cadel cracked.
Gilbert
Evans 8"
Rodriguez 15"
Cunego 30"
Costa eventually got 9th.

Nice finish on the whole though. Rodriguez is one of my favourite riders!
Well, UnitedHealthcare are quite poor. However, just had 6 of my riders finish in the top 32 on stage 5 of the TDU! |

Yeah i like Rodriguez very much also, I think he just has a little shortage in capacities on flat. Otherwise he'd be less tyred near the end.

Sutherland was the best performer for us in the TDU. 38th in the GC. Don't know what to make of that, good or bad? :\ |

Hushovd is such a wheel sucker in my game Just played a single race Paris - Roubaix, and everytime Cancellara and Hushovd were alone in front (with Boonen, Flecha and Ballan chasing behind) he wouldn't relay at all. And there was no Vansummeren ahead In the end, the 4 riders entered the velodrome together (Ballan missing). Boonen easily won the sprint, who was led by Hushovd (some sort of karma maybe?). Cancellara second, Flecha 4th. For the record, I used the 2011 DB.
I think I'll play it again later in PCM 09. There were more time gaps in it. At least in PCM 11 it's quite common for me to see a sprint of 4-5 riders. I think attacks doesn't create a gap worth the bars you spend, but you can't really open a gap with the dot on flat parts, so there isn't much choice.

Started again with a custom team. Will post my squad up soon. I may have made it a bit too strong but I didn't give myself many riders so |

Ploughing on with Sky...
Knocked off the first 3 stages of Paris-Nice before Tirreno-Adriatico doubles up from here on in. Have a weak, makeshift team with an outside chance of netting a low priority season goal of a stage win (read C list sprinters and mediocre breakaway hopes). So far got a podium with Sutton in a sprint and got Zandio into just the right break on an undulating stage only to have daily form and Duque work against a half chance becoming something more as the break just stayed away.
Much stronger team at Tirreno, though the mian aim is to build fitness for the classics and the season goals that they represent.

Well, I just finished the hardest Giro EVER!! Only 110 riders finished the race, and a couple of teams only had 2 riders left at the end. Duarte was in 2nd for most of the race but Scarponi did him over in the last two days. Quintana lost an epic battle with Kennaugh for the young riders' jersey but still a successful race for us.
We got three stage wins as well, Duarte won two mountain stages and we, amazingly, won the TTT. We were the only team that had more than 7 riders finish the race. I feel sorry for all of the non-climbers that had to endure that race!! Big rest in order now!

Great performance in the Giro, Brewers! To get three riders that high up is a good achievement!
Ian, just keep going for podiums, you'll soon be a feared fore amongst the other teams! |

Custom team! That's what I have done and it's great fun. You can pick your own riders and just the ones that you like. |
