GP La Marseillaise
A short one day race in France, where anything could happen - the early breakaway could make it all the way to the finish, an attack on the last climb could prove to be decisive or a sprinter could take the win
CSC line - up:
Alexandr Kolobnev
Kurt Asle Arvesen
Lars Ytting Bak
Rasmus Guldhammer
Jonas Aaen Jorgensen
Nicki Sorensen
The main breakaway of the day was born of the very first climb of the race, where 17 riders managed to get away. CSC's talented Dane J.A. Jorgensen was one of the attackers
With no big team back in the pack to chase them down, the escapes build a very good gap and one the last climb it was clear that they won't be caught.
There were a few attacks in the breakaway, but no one was able to take the race on his own and all 17 riders headed to a sprint
Jorgensen was clearly the best sprinter in the group but he wasn't able to find a good position and even missed the top 10. Morizot took a big win for Auber, with May and Poos completing the podium

Tour Mediterraneen
Basso will start his preparation for the TDF in France, in Tour Mediterraneen. It is still pretty early early in the season to expect some big things from Ivan but a podium should be reachable.
The race will be most likely decided in the final stage, after climbing the Mount Faron.
Nibali is another big name present here, while riders such as Le Mevel, Mollema, Tondo or Simoni are also aiming for a top 5 or the podium.
CSC line - up:
Ivan Basso
Lars Ytting Bak
Matti Breschel
Jacob Fuglsang
Kasper Klostergargaard
Anders Lung
Luke Roberts
Chris Anker Sorensen

Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 1
The opening stage in France is flat, which makes Greipel, Petacchi and Freire the big favorites to take the stage win and the yellow jersey
The sprint wasn't an organized one at all, but still under the 1 kilometer banner, Petacchi and Freire have found their way to the front of the pack, while the Dane Champion, Matti Breschel, was also there ready to interfere with the battle for the first places
Petacchi was leading when entering the final kilometer, but Freire proved to be a little bit stronger than the Italian in the final meters and took the stage win and the leaders jersey in front of the Italian
Stage

Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 2
Another stage for sprinter in France, but this one is a little bit more demanding which could favor Freire even more
Auge was the strongest escape from a very large breakaway group. The Cofidis rider become the new KoM jersey wearer and he also was the last escape to caught, on the downhill from the final climb
In the closing kilometers of the stage, CSC's leader Ivan Basso was involved in crash which ruined the Italian's hopes for the GC. A few other riders went down as well, but no big names
With the shock of Basso's fall all over the pack, five riders managed to breakaway: Ista, Dumoulin, Breschel, Dean and Callegarin
Ista put Dumoulin in a perfect position and Cofidis' sprinter powered away in the final kilometer, with Breschel being the only one able to keep it up with him
The French man took the stage win and the yellow jersey, while thanks to the second place Breschel is now the new wearer of the green jersey
Both Dumoulin and Breschel won 12 seconds over everyone else in the pack, which puts them at the top of the GC after 2 stages.
But today was more bad news for CSC than good news - Basso crashed and lost almost 5 minutes, which makes Fuglsang our new leader, C.A. Sorensen losing a couple of minute in today's stage as well.
Stage
1. | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | 4h10'43 | 2. | Matti Breschel | Team CSC | s.t. | 3. | Daniele Callegarin | CDC - Cavaliere | + 12 | 4. | Julian Dean | Garmin - Transitions | s.t. | 5. | Kevyn Ista | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | s.t. |

Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 3
Dumoulin and Breschel fooled the pack yesterday which means that all the sprinters want to take their revenge today, in another flat stage in France
The sprint was quite unorganized even though the Rabobank and the AG2R trains seemed a bit stronger than the other. Still under the one kilometer banner it was Gilbert who was holding on to the lead
But Freire and Mondory were clearly stronger sprinters than the Belgian, who lost the lead in the closing kilometers of the stage
And it is Freire who takes his second stage win, but it's enough only to take back the green jersey, Dumoulin keeping the yellow one for another day
Also, after Basso's crash yesterday, today it was the other big Italian, Vincenzo Nibali who went down. He lost only 2 and a half minutes but still his race for the overall is over now.

Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 4
Last day for sprinters in France, but it's hillier than the previous stages and it should favor Freire even more, who already got two stage wins. Brechel is also known for doing well in these kind of sprints, which means that Dumoulin's yellow jersey is in real danger, both Freire and Breschel being at less than 5 seconds behind him
Quite surprising, it was Euskaltel who provided the strongest sprint train, with Nieve leading Galdos out. Rojas and Breschel took advantage of their slipstream and followed the orange jerseys to the front of the pack
The Basque riders were not able to hang on to the front positions for too long though and Rojas made his move in a perfect moment, taking the lead of the pack with just 1 kilometer to go
No one was able to stop the Caisse rider in the final kilometer and he took quite a comfortable win, with Duque second and the Dane Champion, Breschel, completing the podium in third place
Breschel's third place and both Freire and Dumoulin missing the bonifications was enough though for the Dane to replace the National Champion jersey with the yellow one, a jersey which the team will have to protect in the last stage of the race
Stage
| 5. | Óscar Freire | Rabobank | s.t. |

Tour Mediterraneen: Stage 5
Everything will be decided in the last stage of the French race, even though some riders are already out of the general classification battle after losing time in the previous stages. The stage will finish on the Mount Faron, where we should have plenty of actions from the climbers
Four important riders made it into the day's main breakaway, all losing time in one of the previous stages: Nibali, Siutsou, Nieve and Moreno.
With Breschel having the yellow jerseys on his shoulders it was CSC's job to bring them back in the pack. But with the Dane not having a real shot at keeping the jersey at the end of the stage and with Basso out of the GC battle, after a crash in the second stage, the CSC riders didn't set up a real high pace
Nieve, Siutsou and Moreno were all brought back in the pack sooner or later, but Nibali was having a great day and he reached the foot of the last climb with almost 2 minutes in front of everyone else
Right after the first slopes of the Mount Faron, Breschel found himself in trouble and started to fade away to the back of the pack. That was the moment when Basso received the ok to make his move and attacked
Peraud and Intxausti closely followed the Italian and in the last 5 kilometers of the climb, the Basque rider left the others 2 behind to chase Nibali by himself
Nibali hold on though and took a nice stage win, which definitely makes up for the Italian missing the top 10 in the general classification
Intxausti finished 21 seconds behind Nibali, lost the stage but he did enough to take the yellow jersey on the podium at the end of the stage and won this year's Tour Mediterraneen.
Stage
1. | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas - Doimo | 3h34'57 | 2. | Beñat Intxausti | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 21 | 3. | Jean-Christophe Peraud | Omega Pharma - Lotto | + 42 | 4. | Ivan Basso | Team CSC | + 47 | 5. | Juan José Oroz | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. |

Thanks. It's good to be 'back' and I'll try to make this one last.
Got some decent results so far, yes, but the sponsors are not happy with the lack of victories, which are still to come.

Vuelta a Andalucia
Fabian Cancellara will start his preparation for the classics, here, in Andalucia, the Swiss aiming for a strong result in the prologue. Carlos Sastre will also start his season here, but with his main races later in the season we shouldn't expect anyt big things from Carlos in the harder stages of the race.
The field is pretty weak here though, with no Pro Tour teams competing, David Blanco being the only big name participating, except the CSC riders. With no big competition, this could be our break trough race of the season.
CSC line - up:
Fabian Cancellara
Kurt Asle Arvesen
Lars Ytting Bak
Inigo Cuesta
Martin Pedersen
Carlos Sastre
Jens Voigt

Vuelta a Andalucia: Prologue
The Andalucian race will start with quite a long prologue, of 9 kilometers. The World Champion, Fabian Cancellara starts as the big favorite and his main opponents, at least on paper, seem to be his team - mates, L. Y. Bak and Jens Voigt
Cancellara was one of the early starters, but that didn't stop the Swiss setting a very strong time at the finish line - 10 minutes and 38 seconds
The Danish Champion, Lars Ytting Bak, had a more than decent ride. His performance, 36 seconds slower than Cancellara, was enough for a fourth place at the end of the stage
The Former Tour de France winner, Carlos Sastre, also had a decent start. The Spaniard finished 8th today, 45 seconds behind Cancellara
Voigt kept the CSC colors at the top, the German being the third CSC rider in the top 5 of the stage, after Cancellara and Bak. He finished 42 seconds behind the World Champion
David Blano, is set for a good result here in Andalucia, and today he was the closest to beat Cancellara's time, but he still lost half a minute
Results
1. | Fabian Cancellara | Team CSC | 10'38 | 2. | David Blanco | Palmeiras Resort - Prio | + 30 | 3. | Matteo Montaguti | De Rosa - Stac Plastic | + 34 | 4. | Lars Ytting Bak | Team CSC | + 36 | 5. | Jens Voigt | Team CSC | + 42 |
