ShortsNL played RVV in his stream tonight, and had a similar situation.
(you can re-watch that situation at https://www.twitch.../419640429
about 1:50:00 in)
He managed to get Roelandts into a leading group of four with Cancellara, Flecha and Chavanel.
Behind, the peloton stopped working, with ~5 guys 40 seconds ahead.
Over the last hill, Roelandts was dead and all others attacked away.
When they had a gap of 50 seconds with about 10k to go, they stopped working together, allowing a completely spent Roelandts to return and subsequently his heart rate to go down to 155.
The chase group sat up as well and got caught by the big group already 5 minutes back.
In the end, the first three sprinted away from Roelandts again, but still far too much sitting up amongst the best 10-20 riders.
PCM 2012 all over again.
Obviously too few races to draw general conclusions, but I as a ManGame manager won't sleep well tonight.

PCM12? This is way worse than PCM12! It had a bad but minimally decent gameplay on cobbled races. But this is just lame
Same here, I can only hope it'll be better with some patches or that these were exceptional one-offs. But it's not a very good start, specially since some of these are old bugs..

Fuck all that! You can only have 1 sponsor!!!!!!!!! Nothing is worse than that!

I think the management part of looks better. I like the groups (I always had them written down on paper before) And organising rider/sponsor goals. Haven't had much time to test out the gameplay yet, but confident the patches will pick any issues up.
Overall better than 2012 at the same point last year.
Not sure "nothing" worse than one sponsor, just watch the news on any chosen day and you'll see worse. Bit of perspective, please.

I've played through Tour Down Under, most of Paris-Nice, and the beginning of Tirreno-Adriatico in a career as Garmin so far. Breakaways seem to win a lot... All but I think two sprints ended with a breakaways win at TDU, with Jens Voigt winning the GC after one such stage. The field was incredibly week, though, with no great punchers or sprinters with a rating of 78.
Paris-Nice, on the other hand, has a much stronger field like regular but still seems to have the same problem. I just finished one hilly stage and Katusha took 1-2 before the peloton raced behind them for third. I was doing everything I could to chase down Daniel Moreno when another Katusha rider attacked. I sent Daniel Martin to follow him since the team with the yellow jersey didn't seem capable of doing anything right. Of course, then the peloton responds... Just to stop and let the two Katusha riders go.
Simulation is really weird, too. I generally skip non Pro Tour races, but maybe that's not an option anymore...
But there are some pros. Mountain stages play way better. Although they are extremely exaggerated, I like the new animations. The new fitness systems seems cool and will be awesome if it is perfected. I also love the return of rider programs and negotiating goals. And for a PCM release DB, the stats are surprisingly good.

Possible bug:
The db Editor doesn't seem to do anything. Tried making changes to the Realname dbs and the stats stayed the same even though it was a completely new cdb file.

Did you hit edit or validate (whichever one it is called) under the rider. Possibly hidden sometimes by the menu bar?

Re: the loading times, I'm not seeing that. Maybe it's system specific? With everything maxed out the stage load times are similar to PCM2012. What are your specs?
my load times are fast i dont know if my 16 gigs of ram helps thou you would think so .
people say breakaways win alot well the AI has improved and the breakaway riders will work with each other now alot better than it was in 2012 i broke away with 1 rider in a pack of 5 at about 15 km out from finish i stopped relaying and 1 of the other guys with me took off and won the race i was spewing i was not ready for it.. So you must pay attention to the break aways alot more now imo.

Hillis back, back again (Slim Shady Parody)
So, how is everybody liking the game so far?
I can't wait to pick it up, when the CD version drops.

Animations are brilliant.
Sprint stages are hectic. Played last stage of TDU, leadout train was all over the place. Much harder to get it set up and out of other peoples way.
Mountain stages seem brilliant. Played as Team Sky on Alpe D'Huez stage. First time up the climb only had 20 people left after pushing very hard. Far more realistic. |

Dived straight in with a custom career and first race was the Aussie national championships, Goss took a solo victory and it played really well. I even managed to sneak away from the bunch at the end with my scouted rider who had been in the break all day to steal 5th and be the only conti or pro conti team to score any points from it.
Next up tour de San Luis and the same Aussie rider managed to force a 5 man split early on with 2 sky, 1 europcar and 1 bmc rider following him. They quickly got a 4 min lead but as it was clear no-one was going to help him due to sky having 2 riders he attacked away never to be seen again, winning the opening stage of the race by 22:27. I think that's how you properly break the game, as long as he doesn't crash out then the GC is his although at one stage he had over 27 minutes advantage and I was worried he'd be the only rider to survive stage 1.
EDIT: full stage results in spoiler

Oh, and to finish things off, the game crashed between highlights/podium
I have that also and not only at P-R but after every race. So maybe it's a bug and will be fixed in a patch (at least I hope).

I know it can probably be fixed in a DB, but how on earth do they manage to get the dates wrong on so many races?
Tour of Poland, Eneco Tour, Vuelta a Espana being the most notably. |

Hmm I guess that's at your end. For my story I edited Gaudin to FDJ, Fisher to Europcar, edited a lot of stats and even made a new rider, it all worked perfectly.
When I edit stuff with the Fast Editor during the career, it works, too.
About the cobblestones, it seems cobbled races are screwed up this year? So far haven't heard much positive about it. When I played P - R it was a bit better, though, though I was pretty passive in the race |

Because they're idiots. Getting the Vuelta date wrong ruins everything because it can't be changed to the correct one without breaking the game.

Looks good and shiny and those attacks on hilly stages are just great. Still two things that bother me atm.
1) Staff is still not calculated into your budget playing a Custom team.
2) Played some .2 and .1 races up to mid April so far and did not receive prize money in any of them
-> Career so far not playable with Custom teams (at least if you don't change your budget via editor) |

Played through RVV last night as was mentioned earlier by Cio. I can confirm that the behaviour of the riders in the last 20k was a bit shady. For some part, I can understand that the leading group of four riders goes slowly in the last part, as they would often normally in a breakaway sprint finish.
However, they were doing it for too long indeed, and it does seem like the group in the rear did the same thing, eventually causing a very large (and slow) chase group with a large gap to the favourites group. All in all, the result was that the riders were grouped together way too much, instead of being split up and fragmented.
At all the people pointing out flaws, I suggest we put everything together in one list, prioritize them, and then send the list to Cyanide ASAP so they can include the top things in a patch. |
