I think even Evans would have struggled to follow Gilbert today.

Sorry for stupid French commenting, at least there's Laurent Jalabert doing a part of the comment there :

He is starting be a same class with Cancellara for me..supreme cycling.
Impressive how one rider can control one classic final climb like that.

Wow. Wow. Still can't believe what Gilbert has done. I thought Huy was too much for him. How wrong I was. This guy is a beast, and he is incredibly in form. Now, who can stop him? The only person I can see beating Gilbert in AGR or FW (LBL is another story, or so I hope) is, at the moment, on forced holiday. |

Hesjedal for the triple crown
Not at all. I have a strange feeling he's not as focused on the classics, and someone like Martin, Le Mevel, Stetina or Vande Velde will be the leaders.
Hesjedal probably wont get a top 5 in any of the 3 classics.
I beg your pardon?

I'll say it again.

Jesus, just saw the last km.... what a beast Gilbert is. This guy is going to be revamped on databases.
I'm pissed I missed this and last Sunday's race. I'll have to make up for it on this Sunday.
Predictions?

For me, the only way they can beat Gilbert would be like last year. Even then, he has Vanendert & Van den Broeck this year, where he was lacking support last year. If it's together at St. Nicolas he can just power away there, or sprint to the win.
Of course, the more attackers, the worse for him. But like his concurrents have raced till now, i really don't see them putting much in his way.

Well Gilbert's win didn't surprise me very much..He has the form of his life right now, he HAS teammates (Bakelants, vdb and VANENDERT was exceptional again) and he also had the experience of similar finishes held in Tirreno (Chieti & Macerata, where he learnt something for sure). If vdb and Jelle Vanendert will be in the same form on Sunday, then easy win for Phil again! Maybe with a little weight loss, he'll have a chance in the Grand Tours for the future.

Considering Gilbert said this race was less suited for him, made the win even better. The strength and power showed by him in the finale was even better considering he went about 400m from the line. |

Downloaded the race, very nice quality btw, and oh my god Gilbert makes it look sooooo easy...
i mean, this guy's amazing! And if he says he really wants to win Liege, I can see no one but him doing that. With ease, just like today and Sunday.

It will be a different race. Everyone is watching out for him. There will be much more attacks and no group of 80 reaching the last climb. Especially guys like Ivanov, Kolobnev and Vinokourov will have to attack. Katusha has to attack a lot to exhaust Gilbert`s helper. |

Only one who could beat Gilbert in LBL is Vino with his late attack at his favourite race...
Go Roman!

It's incredible that Gilbert managed to win on a climb that didn't suit him at all. And by such a margin, too.
Not that that means much for LiƩge. It's a lot about tactics and luck.
Nice to see him win
Also nice to see Vanendert finally rising from the dead and showing something as a pro.

Although i i'm routing for gilbert, i don't see him winning sunday.
There will be too much attacks for him to control. Unless he somehow get even stronger. If that happens, the competetion might as well give up
prevent hangovers --> stay drunk
pozzato, basically the most stupid cyclist around

Gilbert is very one sided. He is absolutely best at high % sprints but with good team you can ride his and most of the pelotons legs off and attack earlier.
I think A. Schleck could have beaten him in FW but for some reason he doesnt care about anything else but TDF |

Who said something like that ? He just had a bad day, he couldn't beat Gilbert.
I think Rodriquez could if he would have attacked earlier and not waited for Gilbert |
