It's the same response that gets given to anyone asking such a "popular question". Less than a week ago someone asked if PCM14 was worth the buy. There's who threads setting out all the bugs and opinions on the game. Go and read them instead of asking again and again.

10 Bucks on Steam right now, hm. Might buy.
Question on my mind: Is it an improvement to PCM2013 and if so, what's really better than PCM2013? Is the racing better than the shitfest one has to endure in 2013?
10 €, well, it's without any doubt worth every cent and, yeah, an improvement to PCM 13.
The AI that in PCM 13 was totally fucked up IMO improved a bit, the career mode too and I like the new features such as the Automatic mode (you are able to control only a rider letting the others do what they should do, even though I haven't seen a story based on this yet)
Thanks!

I will start to tell a little bit about my career with Tinkoff-Saxo (now Alessio). I have struck together a really strong team, which can compete in every terrain. I have won Tour de France with Thibaut Pinot two times and Alberto Contador one time, Giro d'Italia with Rafal Majka one time and Contador two times and Vuelta a Espana with Contador also. Peter Sagan also won Paris-Roubaix one year.
But he's growing old, and new legs a required. Unfortunately I haven't found any good U23-rider yet, but I have a feeling that it'll come soon. So for now I have bought Nairo Quintana (with 76 in TT and 2 stars left!) for the coming years until a 23-rider is good enough to win a Grand Tour.
I love U23-riders, so I won't be many years before my team is only those riders. You can see my team for the 2018-season below (and yes, I cheated a little bit with my balance).
What do you think of my team? Where to improve? Where to get the team more realistic?

It's kinda overpowered, especially in the mountains, don't you think?

That's probably just because of the stat inflation that me and many other guys have noticed
I can't play a proper career because i can't bear that.

Holy shit! You know you're OP when Contador is your 3rd/4th best climber.

So you win every WT stage race and get at least three guys inside the top10 right? You also win every monument with at least two guys in the top10? Right?
There's OP and there's dull imo

Yeah, I win a lot and it is overpowered, indeed. In the next season I think I let go of Pinot, Contador, Roche and Rasmussen.
But keep in mind there a lot guys over 80 in stats.

That's the problem, never happened to me in the past versions of PCM, but here the stats inflation is annyoing as hell

So i hvn't played PCM14 since i called an end to my Sky career. I want to pick it up again as a game that's easy to play without paying too much attention most of the time. I can't decide on a team to pick so when the Stats Update comes soon i'll start...
My idea is this. Pick 3 Records, play until i break them! For example i pick TDF Wins, WC RR Wins and Roubaix Wins. I will design a custom team of decentish riders and good youngsters. Then i go and play with the focus of winning the TDF 8 times, WC 4 times and Roubaix 5 times Problem being i can't decide on the records to break. I want them to actually be doable in a reasonable amount of time so GT Stage Wins in a single race are no's.
I was thinking record wins for one of the GT's (not sure which. TDF and Giro are both 5, Vuelta is 4. Vuelta would be easiest but Tour is Tour ). Worlds RR (3 wins seems reasonable but the changing route makes it interesting). One of the Monuments (Ronde and Roubaix are 3+4, LBL and Lombardia are 5, MSR is 7).
Thoughts? Or if that even makes any sense to you

The Tour is the Tour - nothing can compete with that.
I don't think you should take WC - the race is impossible to controle, and you can be in that situation that you cannot pick the country you played with the season before if you get another profile for instance.
Take Tour de France, Paris-Roubaix (which is my favourite race) and maybe Liege? |

How about Lombardia (5 wins) or maybe San Sebastian (3 wins)-although that isn't a monument-instead of Liege, it will be interesting to have a race at the end of the season.

But isn't that what all roads lead to? A sports management simulation is essentially a tycoon game and the goal is to do as well as possible. Sure, you can start out with an extremely weak team and slowly work your way up, but after a few seasons you will end in such a position. Because the things you can do to counter that - like using only 50% of your wage budget or not following attacks so you don't win the stage/race - are even less satisfying.
So for the maximum challenge while still trying your best I'd say pick the weakest team out there and work yourself into such a dominant position - and once you've done that and won everything, start again, maybe with a new DB to mix things up a bit. |

I agree with TheManxMissile. I had a career where I ended up with Quintana, Pinot, Bardet, Valverde, Mollema, Ulissi and it ended up being too easy. It might be fun for a season or two winning every races but it becomes very boring when the competition is actually in your team. I won the Vuelta with Pinot and finished 12mns ahead of Purito (whose stats were starting to diminish due to his age). I think Izagirre was third and I had 4 or maybe 5 riders in the top 15.
I understand your point as well about starting with a weak team and building it to be the best possible, as this is ultimately the aim of the game, but when you have 6 or 7 riders with over 80 in mountain, you have very limited competition |

How do I race the World Championships races (road race and ITT)? I'm sure that in one of my earlier career I raced it but in my new career I never have.
Am I wrong and it is the only races you can't actually do? |

How didn't you play them? It looks weird actually
Have you passed September in your career?

Yeah I'm now in October and just got the news about the results.
I didn't sim until a certain date or anything, I was just going from one day to the next and just got the results of the race the day after the event. |

It does not show on the calender, but sim to the dato (you can find it where you make your selections) and the press next day/event, and then you can play it. |

Maybe I did sim it, but pretty sure I haven't. I guess I'll have to wait until next year. |

So guys, I'm starting the 3rd season in my pcm14 career with sky. First one on hard. Wiped the tdf and vuelta with Froome by 12/15 minutes, timw to step up to another level. Started ok witha win in TDU (one of the main sponsorship goals) with Rui Costa (had to take the big guns to the race as the last tow years never got any success in Australia). Now I'm about to start the most difficult (imo) part of the season, the spring classics...need any advice you have for the cobbles, please.
My team:
Froome, Rui Costa, Sagan, EBH, Bardet, Kelderman, Brajkovic, Phinney, Coquard, Vichot, L. Boom, Rohan Dennis, A. Yates, Sénechal, Landa, Stannard, Taaramae, J. Le Bon, Dieteren, Boswell, Joe Dombrovsky, Docker, plus 7 regens. |
