The stage everyone has been waiting for, Alto de L' Angliru.
The last mountain stage Andy will ride in his quest for history.



The morning breakaway, no Saxo Bank or Leopard riders ...
Will Saxo Bank chase today?



While their at the front but Andrew Talanksy doesn't think they are taking the breakaway seriously and attacks.



Now three more go clear, and Saxo Bank doesn't seem to care.



Now the real race starts as
Frank Schleck attacks as we start the climb up Mieres.



At the top Frank is able to catch the breakaway
who lead over the peloton by 2 minutes.



The gutsy attack by Frank has dropped all of
Contador's helpers with Angliru looming ahead.



And here we go, the climb that could decide the Vuelta.



As the reduced peloton catches the breakaway Andy Schleck goes all in.



Contador is forced to chase for himself.



Down to 10kms now, Frank leads Andy by 1'30'' who has a 25 second gap on Contador and now just a few remaining elite climbers.



With Andy slowly pulling out his gap Sanchez attacks,
Contador and Rodriguez counter.



Contador is on a whole new level and is closing down Andy in 800 meters, unbelieveable.



Just before the 5kms banner Contador catches Andy,
the hopes for Leopard now turn to Frank.



But 1000 meters later he is caught as well. These three men have opened up a huge gap on everyone else now.
4th place is Sanchez who is over 2 minutes back.



Contador opens a gap under the 1km to go banner ...



And his gone, the mountains are Contador's home.



Andy and Frank work together and only lose 15 seconds, which is really a great achievement. Andy now is 26 seconds back, but will have his chance to get back at Conta in three days time when we hit 4 hilly stages where Andy was performed better than Conta over the past two weeks. Don't give Alberto Contador the Vuelta just yet.

The Vuelta is just 5 stages away from crowning a winner,
and 3 men still have a chance to be on the top step in Madrid.



After the breakaway win yesturday three men
head out today to press their luck.



They quick gain 5 minutes and Jakob Fuglsang
decides he was to go to make Saxo Bank chase today.



Fuglsang does catch the breakaway after a long solo ride,
but the peloton in return cuts the gap to 2 minutes.



Jakob knows he can't rest with the breakaway riders
and sets out solo again.



The peloton picks up the three men a few kilometers later, and if you look closely you can see Saxo Bank is not present up front.



At the sprint point in Espinosa de los Monteros, Andy makes a great move to pick up 4 bonus seconds. Closing the gap to Conta down to 22 seconds.



Portillo de Lunada comes and goes without any attacks,
Fuglsang will lead us to Mortesante.



Frank Schleck starts Leopard tatics today.



Rodriguez attacks 3kms later and surprisingly Contador counters,
so Andy goes as well.



At the top, Contador and Rodriguez open up a gap.



But on the downhill Sanchez pulls them back.
And Frank has now past Fuglsang for the lead.



Fuglsang is then past by Contador's group a kilometer later. We are now a few meters away from the final mountain top finish of the Vuelta.



After all the chasing Contador has done Andy throws the first punch.
Frank still leads a minute and half up the road.



1km to go now and Frank Schleck is going to take the stage
and challenge Contador for his leader's jersey.



Contador just doesn't have the energy to take on both Schlecks.
A huge win for Frank.



But Alberto does have the power to deal with just one Schleck. He opens up a small gap to younger brother Andy, which allows Frank to jump into 2nd overall (+40). Andy Schleck falls into 3rd (+42).
