AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-1-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%201/2-041LOGO_zps58d2b755.jpg

Stage 5 – Bakersfield – 30.3km (ITT)

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5PROFILE_zpse9109c1e.jpg

THE STAGE

It's time for the time trial bikes to come out and one of our first riders to complete todays course is Reyes who will end up in 75th place

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC011REYES_zps80ed58b2.jpg

Martyn Irvine of UnitedHealthcare soon follows with a better time of 42m 34s

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC001IRVINE_zps1dea42b2.jpg

His team mate Ben Day beats him ever so slightly to go provisionally first

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC002DAY_zps8ed492b5.jpg

A lot is expected of Craddock/Bontrager and he will finish the day in 22nd place

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC004CRADDOCK_zps46b8cff7.jpg

Maarten Tjallingii/Belkin Pro Cycling Team just makes it inside the top 30

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC006TJALLINGII_zps3951b466.jpg

Favourite for the win today Phinney/BMC Racing races around in 40m 29s and now leads

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC007PHINNEY_zpsc86714c2.jpg

Pate/Team Sky was expected to challenge but disappoints

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC009PATE_zpsc1bfc3a4.jpg

Zabriskie/Garmin-Sharp will finish over a minute behind

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC012ZABRISKIE_zpsef87b98d.jpg

Our main hope Van Garderen loses out by 46s

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC022VANGARDEREN_zpsb9ff7b47.jpg

And just two riders remain, Cancellara of Radioshack-Leopard

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC017CANCELLARA_zps76085ea5.jpg

And Wiggins of Team Sky, but can either of them grab the stage win

i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y319/novo2013/2-041-5-AMGEN%20TOUR%20OF%20CALIFORNIA-STAGE%205/2-041-5-PIC024WIGGINS_zpsc98f30b4.jpg

A Good effort from Tejay today which keeps him up there on the GC and also gives him the Young Rider lead too

OZrocker
Well done by Tejay, not too many people ahead of him can climb as well as he can so with a bit of luck, he's given himself a good chance to get into the top 5!

That was certainly a day of suffering for the guys today with only Tejay managing to get inside the top 50, but unfortunately he loses his podium place.
He still has the Young Rider jersey on his shoulders though

OZrocker
Not a great day with the three attackers taking the glory, but at least Tejay is still bravely hanging in there. Frown

Well done to Tejay, not an easy race but he was admirably tough against the big teams. A good chance for Gary to improve on his 5th place last year in Lincoln Smile

sutty68
OZrocker - Tejay battled hard so it was good to get fourth and Gary has been training on the Lincoln course and so fancies his chances (fingers crossed)
