Catalunya is honestly a pretty shitty race, it just feels off despite all the good riders attending. Always has been.
That said, very happy for Valverde and Movistar. And yes he is the massive favourite right now. |

Uhm...not sure if I remember correctly, but wasn't Kwiatcockski like:
"I'm leaving Lefevere because he thinks I should focus on the classics but
I am delusional and think that I would make a great GC contender for the GTs."
Thomas is too fat for a GT podium. His climbing performance is already rediculous. If he pops more marginal gains it's like Bjarne Riis all over again.
Riis123 were are junkies, we gotta take what we can get.
So Catalunya it is. And tomorrow we got some half classic in Belgium. |

and before that he left movistar because they wanted to loan him out to caja rural for a second season before promoting him to the main team
he didnt like that so he asked to be released to go to radioshack |

So BMC is now the winner of the TTT in Cataluña. One minute penalty for all the Movistar riders

Apparently so. Haven't seen it, what was the infringement? Dennis or Hermans might well hold on given the parcours. I'd say Van Garderen but...well...Dennis or Hermans might well hold on.

I'm sure the organizers just wanted to close the gap between the big 3 and make it more interesting

Thanks. Found a video too https://twitter.c...6057661440
So technical infringement that should be cut and dry but no doubt means many teams, especially Movistar, will be motivated to put BMC (apparently they objected) under pressure - great!

What's wrong with pushing your teammates? It's a team time trial. If they were getting assistance from the team car then fair enough.
The whole point of a team time trial is to ride as a team, why shouldn't they be allowed to give each other a push.

because it's against the rules, that's why it's wrong

The hardest part of the TTT is the picking in after you dropped back. So basicaly they were avoiding the major difficulty, it's pretty much the same as pushing a team mate up a hill.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

But why is it against the rules? That's my point.
Why should a team in a team time trial not be allowed to give each other a push? As far as I'm aware there's no rule about giving your team mates, or riders from another team, a push in a normal road stage. If there is it is never enforced. You always see riders slinging other riders up the road.

Normal road stages also have different rules to TTT's and ITT's have separate rules again. So what's ok in one is not ok in a nother.

My point is it's a team time trial. The team should be able to work together as a team. What's the difference between a little push and one rider dragging the whole team behind him in his slipstream? Or two riders killing themselves in the first 10k and then sitting up and finishing 10 minutes behind?
I just don't see why a little push has resulted in a 1 minute penalty when in todays stage you'll see all manner of pushing, slinging, sticky bottles and convenient saddle adjustments and that's all OK.
