Maybe for you! Which makes me ask, is it as big of a deal there as it is here?
Well idk if its a big deal or not. Families get together and have a big feast and we get a holiday.

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well

I think there is spam here for a reason. There really is a topic for just about everything. If we can't have the Ferguson convo here, which really isn't a difficult topic at all, then what really IS appropriate talk for this thread?
It is easy. Topic is interesting for TMM - it can stay here. Topic is too hard to understand for TMM - it has to go away, this thread is reserved for bitching about your own injuries anyway.

Racism, corrupt judiciary systesms, broken law enforcement and politics... You're right, none of that has ever been discused in the Difficult Toics thead and never should be!
And f*cking Thanksgiving... I really don't mind it at all, it's one of the more legit American holidays (let's ignore the questionable actions that created the holiday for now). I just hate how it's spreading to non-USA countires (by which i mean the rest of the world). It's a very specific Holiday and probably 90% of people outside the US who celebrate it don't actually know what it is.
Enjoy your turkey, football, alcoholic relatives and arguements!

Not really sure why you wouldn't want Thanksgiving to be spread around the world. I mean... we've for whatever reason taken over stupid celebrations like Mother's Day, Father's Day, not to mention Valentine's Day.
The only good US celebration is Thanksgiving, and we're still yet to implement that one over here. That doesn't make any sense.
We did get Black Friday, though...
I'm currently trying to handle the American edition of this by bying an iPad from Best Buy. It's not going too well... Site's (the checkout, to be specific) barely been working ever since I woke up 7-8 hours ago. It went completely down at one time and did actually work for a moment when it got back up. But then my credit card wouldn't get accepted as it's not a US one.
I think I've now found a solution to this, but now the site is messed up again.
Oh, the joy of trying to save money |

Ir's a thing that celebrates the one time we had a feast and were friends with the natives before we killed and enslaved them all.

I agree Black Friday is great! Tech Monday as well, i love it! And i can get all the benefit without eating dry turkey.
Valentines Day has been around in various forms since Roman times. And personally i like Mothers Day and Fathers Day. It's a nice focus to give thanks (haha!) to parents who deserve it. Though i don't do the whole buying presents thing and just do all the chores and stuff instead.
I also hate the commercialisation of Halloween but like Valentines day it has roots in genuine history and celebration so i give it more of a pass. Plus girls in short skirts distracts me.(wow that was misogynistic!)

And just as I had complained about this, I finally managed to confirm my order. 175 EUR (220 USD) saved compared to Danish prices.

Did you just say that you fly to NYC to save 175 EUR? What does the flight cost? |

That's not quite what I was trying to say. I'm going to NYC on vacation. Timing means I can benefit from some of the Black Friday offers |

Black Friday is so fun, going out again this year with no money until 6AM trying to get on TV and watching people lie, cheat, and steal their way to save $50 on a TV or PS4. Come watch the true colors of America!
