Actual first impressions:
Stats are terrible!!! Just terrible!
Load times are insanely long
As of yet it has failed to ever save my graphics changes meaning i have to re-set them each time i open the game
Lots of wasted screen space
Lack of 1-2 star cobbled sections
Inability to select manager nationality
Inability to select custom team region and important areas
Inability to select custom team budget and level
Slick looking menus
Intuitive location of important information and buttons
Some nice new features, such as the map... even thought there is zero point to it
Improved stat variations
Improved animations
Improved graphics
Improved AI so far, only played 1 flat stage and 1 light mountain stage with downhill finish
It is the best out of the box game yet, but it is hardly perfect. They have taken away some things that were really good, and added in things that make no difference to any part of the game. Until it gets a proper DB i will not be investing too much time actually playing it. And some more patches of course.
Currently probably only a 6/10. (PCM12 fully DB'd up is an 8/10)

after a very long wait, i can say: it was worth it!
better AI(by what i played so far, that map thing is cool, they actually put the manager in pro cycling manager, you are given more info about the diffrent teams...
if you have the money-get it. |

I just fell in love with the custom team screen!
It's just so amazing.
You start with a lot of budget, no 'orientation' setting, always a lot of money. Then, you can choose riders, and depending on team quality, you end up in one of the 3 divisions.
An other way to spend all that money is scouting reports. You can now scout youngsters in every region!(So not just the one of your nationality). Also, you can see their stats, so you can make your team balanced, even with choosing an only-youngsters team. You can find out their potential with the report button
Just amazing...

I've come across something odd now, though. Right before Paris - Nice, suddenly my mail box is full with my riders whining about their race schedule. They're all "annoyed" or "unhappy" or "irritated". I mean, I'm sending Bouhanni to Paris - Nice and he's already done TDU, what does he expect?
If someone's already there, too, do you experience the same problem?

So I wanted to test the custom teams, and the game had decided to create a "wunderkind":

Also, two Serbian kids with TT 72 and a host of other good youngsters from strange places. Maybe Cyanide needs to tone down the U23 system.

Welcome back Waghlon. Also, perhaps you got extraordinarily lucky?

Recently continued my old career in PCM 2009, got excited for the new game and bought it. Tried a mountain stage with Saxo Bank to keep up a high pace throughout the stage.. Before the last mountain the leading group was only 10 riders, last uphill was starting, and... the game crashes. Seems that nothing has changed in that regard, PCM still causing annoying crashes out of the blue Probably need to play around with the graphic settings if it would help.
Gameplay wise the stage seemed to go quite well, though the new camera, graphics (vs 2009 version) will get some getting used to.. |

Loading times should be fixed with the first patch, it seems. Haven't played a stage yet though, busy with massively editing the stats(which is point 2 of your list )
Lack of 1-2 cobbles sections is understandable, cobbles simply aren't easy, and need to be put on a few stars to make differences. I think that it's better in CT races.
Inability to select manager nationality
Inability to select custom team region and important areas
Inability to select custom team budget and level
Managers nationality doesn't have any influence anyway.
Custom team regions and important areas can be edited I think. Though I get your point.
I disagree with your third sentence in the quote though. I really, really like that. If you're a small team, you can 'waste' that budget on scout reports anyway They cost 20,000, so you can probably do about the same amount of reports as earlier as a small team, maybe a bit more even.

Unfortunately, I don't see a big speedup post-patch. It still takes about 2-3 minutes to load a stage, graphic settings are set to low. If I set the graphic details to maximum it takes more than 8 minutes (!) to load the stage. Once the stage is loaded and started, gameplay is very smooth though. But still, loading times are unbearable at the moment. |

Is it much better than PCM12? Because I don't have a big budget and want to spend as less on gaming as possible (and I'm no torrent genius ). Otherwise I'll just download a new database and play with PCM12. |

To me, it is way better, yeah.
Of course, with 1 patch & no big DBs it's not as good as it can be, but I'm already impressed atm, without a lot of patches and a big DB

It sucks that only 7 riders (or so) of your team can get a trainer. It just deletes it when you move on.
Besides from that and a few other bugs it seems to be a really great game. |

No, not all that talents are that high. You can get a team of all-high talents, if you really want though, since you can see the stats of U23 riders now. Yet you have to use a scouting report(20000 Euros) if you want to see his potential.
But you can also take 1 decent guy and further all-domestiques if you want

About the young riders, they do seem quite high for me as well. But that is something that can be easily modded by the community and the DBs

Managers nationality doesn't have any influence anyway.
But doesn't it set the national team you can choose? (either from team nationality or manager nationality)

It normally does.
In PCM2013 you can choose between your team's nationality and another one from your squad.
But it's easily edited, too. |

Turns out Focus delayed the release for some regions so they would get an already patched version. If yours took a while....you don't need to patch it

Having back all the stage file stuff like:
- time gaps
- profile
- mountain/hill ratio
- uphill sprint
- wind strength
- wind direction
is so awesome. This improves the game by so much! Not only the Man Game next season, but the game in general.
AI wise I just played 3-4 races yet. Mountains seems to be very nice. Hills look pretty nice. Cobbles look nice as well.
But just played classics/single stages. Haven`t looked a lot into stage race/career yet.
In total this looks like a big step up to me.
And something different: Can someone test the Tour of Malaysia - Genthin Highland stage? It`s the flat one with a single hard mountain top finish. Doesn`t work for me in stage mode. |

Re: the loading times, I'm not seeing that. Maybe it's system specific? With everything maxed out the stage load times are similar to PCM2012. What are your specs?
It was eleven more than necessary.
