I'll bet that Mori or Bono will get a stage win, Cunego to finish top 15, top 10, who knows. Cimolai may prove some surprises. |

Ferrari is totally out of form or burnt out after a disappointing Giro, or both. |

i'm expecting to see a lot of Cunego-action. maybe going for the top 10, but i doubt that. i think top 15 and maybe a stage win.
it could be fun to see Cunego chase the Mountain jersey XD |

He abandoned the Tour de Suisse on the 3rd stage, and I don't think he crashed.

Of course, but that could happen to any other rider as well. Hardly something Movistar are worrying about with Quintana in particular.

IMO Quintana is been really underestimate in his TT abilities.
typical stereotyping. Very annoying. Most colombians are actually decent itt specialists nowadays. Most of them have a background in track racing as well (not quintana, but he's just a natural great talent) |

One of Movistar's directors said besides Valverde, they want Rui Costa to be the second captain and that he has similar characteristics to Alejandro. He says Quintana should take it easy, since results will eventually come, that he may go after a stage win; seems like they don't want anything big for him like say the White Jersey, by the sounds of it. He says Rojas wont go after the Green Jersey, that he will be protecting Valverde at all times.

Mind you, if Quintana doesn't suffer misfortune, a bad day, illness, etc, and doesn't have to stay behind to babysit Valverde, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him top 10 comfortably.
EDIT: That interview is by the DS Arrieta. He says something else interesting: that this year Plaza has finally recovered his old level after getting over the chronic knee injury.
And indeed that's quite true looking at Plaza's results this year. Last time he rode for Movistar before the injury he was 11th in the Tour and 15th in the Vuelta in the same season
Also, he echoes what Unzué had already said about Valverde's form, that they planned Valverde's training and racing with the goal of not being as good in the first half of the season so for the first time since 2005 he doesn't get to the Tour tired.
However, he doesn't seem to agree with Unzué on Costa. Unzué said that Costa "maybe" might have some freedom, no guarantees.

What do people think of Daniel Moreno? I know he will be working for Purito, but we saw at the Vuelta he still placed pretty well, and in the Dauphine, Moreno looked pretty strong.
Is it possible he finishes Top 10/Top15?

Why everyone picks TVG for top5 or even podium? I really can't see him going into top5, maybe , but maybe "only" top10.
About Moreno, 2 options.
If Purito shows good form in first week, and get close to favourites (Froome,Contador), or maybe even take yellow, he has no chance for leading. In that case, he will might go in some late attack , somewhere between 17-19 stage , probably. Everything depends on Purito's performance and Moreno's role.
If Purito fails (unlikely to happen, but possible) , he will take leadership and aim for top10 , i guess. Once again, this is only theory, not sure if this can happen.

Jesus Hernandez about Contador:
Many have doubted if Alberto Contador will reach his former level of greatness in this year’s Tour de France. The Spaniard hasn’t won any of the stage races he has been riding and so far he’s only got one stage win this season. However, what many tend to forget is that this year the plan has been different. Alberto Contador was mentally drained after his turbulent 2012-season and he needed a longer winter break than usually. Therefore, he started out 2013 three kilos heavier than the preview years, and naturally this has affected his results.
Instead of being close to his best level during the first part of the season - as he usually is - Contador has planned everything around the Tour de France. At Dauphiné he said he was on 75 % and according to his best friend and teammate, Jesus Hernandez, Alberto Contador is now ready to fight for the overall win.

I normally don't like Contador, but if he really was at 75% in Dauphine, he will crush Froome at the Tour and i would love that. Anyhow i don't know if you could trust Jesus Hernandez on this topic. (Best friend in peloton of Contador, same team and so.) One thing, which is an advantage for Contador is, that Froome will panic a bit if he has strong competition and is not dominating early on. Since last years Tour he was very sure that he will win the Tour 2013. |

Contador will beat Froome. The pure talent that he carries doesn't just go away and he will be the strongest climber at the tour. I think Contador will give up about a minute to Froome in the first time trial, but they will be rather equal in the 2nd time trial. Contador will then take his time in the mountains.
By the way, Do not count out Andy Schleck for a possible podium. He has always shown up at the tour, and he will do it again this year.
Cavendish will win around 4 stages in my opinion. Greipel maybe 1 or 2. Sagan wins green though.

If that were true, Eddy Merckx would be the major favorite for this Tour.
People get older. He's been at the top for 7 years, it's time to fade. The human body can't handle more.
