Stetina and Niemec in a good way, Bennett in a very good way.
Machado and especially Antón in the usual disappointingly bad way.
Menchov even worse, he said he wanted to be in absolute top form here, so this can only mean it'll be his last season.
EDIT: And I didn't read any post after yours because I won't see the stage or know the results until 6 and a half hours from now. Cya then Edited by issoisso on 21-03-2013 17:04

Can anyone explain to me what Jurgen Vandenbroecks tactics are?
Today he rides up to Gesink... then does almost no work, attacks with 7km to go. Barely keeps a 4s gap all the way to the top...
What's the point of that? If you see you can't create a gap after 2/3km you know you'll do better by working together.. And why not work with Gesink from the first place? What has he gained by this?
Weird dude.
Glad that Martin, Gesink, Van den Broeck broke the Sky train this way though. Eat that! And considering Gesink is faaaaar from his best after the illness in PN I'll get my hopes up again (only to get them smashed after 1st week giro )
Niemiec is very underrated. If he could ride for himself more times, he could challenge a GT top-10. As for Martin, big win today, and Quintana is just awesome.

Riding it once in last year's Vuelta was enough for him to take 10 seconds on the pack together with Gilbert.
And this time he doesn't even need to gain actual time. Winning the stage while Martin misses out on time bonuses is enough to take him up to the same time.
Chapeau Martin.
Very WTF Stetina and Wurf (and even Danielson, 1st race back)

Martin tweeted it was like a one day for him today but going to be a big ask
Martin is an excellent one day rider. His problem is that if tomorrow wasn't flat he'd lose minutes. Or as Vaughters likes to put it: "Dan is absolutely the future leader of Garmin!!........for the classics."
Btw, 2nd year in a row Valverde crashes out of Catalunya with an injury.
Wanna bet it ruins his form for months just like last year?
Between these two and the Vuelta last year it's a pretty impressive streak of bad luck, really
(The difference being that Costa is injured too this year so it's up to Quintana to do something)

He has like one major stage win in 10 years? But i know he is good, just not stage winner on big stages.
That's one more than Andy Schleck then

You're not the only one, even pros hate it
Comments on 1 of today's races by certain commentator were so inaccurate. Is it his job to get facts across or maybe his opinion? #amatuer
Porte to the rescue. We can call it....Operación Porte
Ironic that he misspelled amateur though Edited by issoisso on 22-03-2013 00:06

Yep. Attacking from 50km out. Which is ironic considering how many people was telling me that it was totally not possible for Purito to attack from far out when I was suggesting, during the Giro, that maybe he'd need to move before the last kilometer if he wanted to win the whole thing.
Figures for almost all of the last climb for Martin and all of the climb for Purito and Quintana (source vetooo @ammattipyoraily) :
Port Aine (last 17.10 km, 6.54 %, 1119 m). Dan Martin: 45 min 43 sec, 22.44 Kph, VAM 1469 m/h, 5.53 W/kg.
NOTE THE LONGER DISTANCE BELOW DUE TO LACK OF DATA FOR MARTIN AT THE START OF THE CLIMB
Port Aine (18.35 km, 6.70 %, 1229 m). Joaquim Rodriguez, Nairo Quintana: 49 min 29 sec, 22.13 Kph, VAM 1490 m/h, 5.58 W/kg.
Bearing in mind a reported 4700m of vertical ascent in the stage and being off the front all day and and and a long last climb that's a very impressive (and in case that's misinterpreted I personally feel totally believable) performance from Martin in my opinion. What the numbers don't show too well is how much I enjoyed it Edited by ianrussell on 22-03-2013 11:38
