When? He had several mechanical problems, then got stucked behind the crash, and he was without teammates for major final part of the race. But i agree he needs to think different in some situations, that will come with age maybe.

Best atmosphere i've been too at a cycling race yet. The Paterberg was a great place to watch... beer tents... 'frites' vans and two big screens... made for a great day out! Atmosphere was great... especially when the crowd errupted when boonen won... i don't think a brit parading the flag and cheering for the italians went down well though...
Almost won a free round at a bar in Ypres though when i placed a wager that Pozzato win!

When he decided to chase all the attacks for the group, later going alone and cracking?

i agree, he has been insanely generous and definetely not opportunitic.
in any case his performance is just astonishing (remember he's 22yo)
he is probably going to dominate the classics scene for the next decade.

is he going to race the ardennes, too?
Don't speak too soon, would be far from the first time someone hasn't fulfilled their promise. And people who do don't dominate - Cancellara, Boonen - they haven't dominated for a decade, they've been spectacular but very on-off. And I retain judgement but Gilbert looks like he may not repeat last year's domination. Don't count your chickens...
Only Amstel probably.
And i agree with wacko, future has not been written yet, anything can happen.
But he seems to have everything to succeed in all of the classics including cobbled ones ( something that many people here were laughing at two weeks ago ).
