Second longest contract in UAE, just beaten by Pogacar’s (2027). Still, don’t fancy this choice, but we’ll see. Think he can lead when Pogi’s not around, but few have been those who left DQT and kept showing a decent level. Guess I’ll have to join baseballover’s devil-ish avatar gang sometime in the future though.

Yeah, I'm split in this move. I'm not sure where he will lead and I'm afraid he'll become a domestique for Pogacar - which I hope not.

echovid
they should consider to call it Quick-Step Soudal, it sounds much better

Really seems like a few teams are signing every rider now, not just Ineos. UAE have put themselves in that position. Wonder where a guy like McNulty ends up now long term if he continues to progress. Won't be much space for him.

UAE have also announced they've signed Soler on a two year contract.

wtf Soler at UAE Shock

valverde321
Reminds me of when I first got into PCM and just signed all the best riders with my team, having Contador, Valverde, Cancellara, Sanchez, Freire etc.

I think Soler might have reached the point where he realises that one Paris-Nice win was a bit of a fluke and that he isn't going to win a big race anymore. For me, there's no shame in accepting that and getting a good contract as a domestique for Pogacar.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Exactly my thoughts on this, but Soler didn't exactly seemed like a team player for me so don't think he'll prove to be of much help for UAE. Probably just in for the paycheck.

it depends, if the day that Pogacar needs him he will be prone to domestiqe or he is thinking to a solo attack, or losing 25'
Soler fits perfectly in Movistar odd (no-)strategies...

Ollfardh
I think his Movistar past will come in handy actually. If Carapaz attacks, he'll be chasing like there's no tomorrow.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Now it’s Alvaro Hodeg going to UAE. Nowhere near Gaviria’s level in DQT times, but still a decent sprinter, but unless he’s replacing the fellow Colombian, it’s a move that doesn’t bode well for his competitive ambitions…

Plus, Vlasov confirmed to Bora.

df_Trek
isn't UAE over the 30 riders limit yet?

Think at this rate Messi will end up in UAE.

So I checked UAE’s squad and only Kristoff and Bystrom have confirmed to be leaving. Other riders without a contract include Rui Costa, Oliveira twins (for some reason I believe they will stay), Covi (poor fellow should change teams, he’s a good talent that must not be wasted here), Formolo (another poor guy who aimed to lead the team at the Classics but lives in the shadow of Pogacar, should move on), De la Cruz, Dombrowski (both might leave), Polanc (not sure how he felt being left out of the Tour, maybe he will move somewhere else given he wasn’t selected to support Pogacar), Richeze, Gaviria (maybe leaving otherwise Hodeg wouldn’t have signed?), Riabushenko, Marcato, Muñoz and Mirza (tbh either they find another UAE born rider or he will be kept for another year again to make sponsors happy).

The Oliveira twins, at least for the conversation that Ivo put up a few days ago when he came to comment track cycling in the Olympics, meant they were staying, as he talked about being Almeida's team-mate next year.

UAE is ridicolous at this point. It's becoming a major war between them and INEOS to see who can spend more money in creating the most ridicolous squad for the mountains.

the situation is becoming ridiculous

Rui Costa: will leave, destination open, maybe back to Movistar
both Oliveiras: rumouredly the Portuguese touch of the team (including mechanics) and the cooperation with Matxin ensured the signing of Almeida who had a similar offer from Bora, so I guess they'll stay
Covi: awesome rider for all sorts of punchy classics, should stay or move to a top-class team, would love him at Astana or even at QuickStep
Formolo: could leave for classics freedom, especially if Covi takes over his role as hills leader when Pogacar is not there
De la Cruz: Very valuable mountain dom but leaving to destination unknown, can imagine him going to Ineos or Movistar
Dombrowski: should leave
Polanc: will be kept as Pogacar-buddy I fear, though he could thrive elsewhere with more freedom
Richeze, Gaviria: pretty sure Gaviria leaves and takes Richeze with him, but Ackermann didn't take his leadout (Selig) with him so they might even split up
Riabushenko: leaving, probably to Astana according to Wielerflits, great choice for him
Marcato: will probably retire
Muñoz: back to Colombia or maybe Androni I guess
Mirza: will stay for PR reasons I assume
Conti: was missing from your list, will leave (probably to Astana as well)

They are rumoured to have signed Ruben Sanchez as well, a very talented Spanish climber.

Damn, really sad the direction he went after being a GT winner at a young age. Hope he can muster up something in the Vuelta.

A bit surprising considering Aru just came from his best result in years (considering the level of the field in Vuelta a Burgos), not sure what this means for his Vuelta ambitions but I’m hoping he can fight for a stage win at least.
