Impressive TT by Haga, and some more points to add to his tally!
Thanks tsmoha and congrats Bonsucro!

Podium gone as expected. For now at least...
Good to see Samoilev with a strong time as the entire team around Anacona have looked tired lately.

Not too amused with this TT result. Popo pretty decent, Kononenko good, Kashechkin pretty bad, Gruzdev with probably his best TT of the season iirc, but still bad.
Now Popovych will have to defend his position, holding off Panayotov in particular, and also Kononenko should try to not lose too much time and positions. Kashechkin in the meantime just has to find 3 seconds on Zoidl to get a top 15, and make sure we finish with 3 guys in that same top 15, and secure the team classification, so please no dumb breakaway luck for Sauber/Euskaltel/Azteca. Please?

Tvetcov up to 7th, 5th only a minute away Realistically it will be difficult for us but if theres a will, theres a way!
Karpets better join in the break tomorrow, he is far enough behind for it as well...

Who is that dodgy Bonsucro guy?
75 TT, 72 HI, you gotta say that TTs, especially the hilly ones, have been pretty weird in this race, also considering how Nicacio, by the same team, won the mountainous one with only 74 MO Not like they've been better the rest of the year.
Still, congrats to Bonsucro for what has been a far better race than predicted so far!

Another surprising victory from Bonsucro, again in TT with an underdog. That should put The Rider out of his misery
Berhane forces the GC decision to the final mountain stage of the race, which could be demolishing for many of the riders present. There are still a good number of battles within the top10.
From our perspective, it's another good performance from Oliveira to take 2nd. Of the 3 TTs in this race, we have won 1 and finished 2nd twice, which is pretty good actually. However, there is no denying that we couldn't live up to the expectations. Both in this event and in the whole PCT season. Disappointing stuff, really.

What a mixed race for us, Quintana still doesn't seem to understand how to be a leader, hopefully something he will acquire with some more experience once he gets back to the PT level next year. Luckily though some of the other riders are coming up with good results on the stages, with Briceno picking up a podium spot this time.

Zoidl not getting any camera time despite getting a top 5 on the stage is a little disappointing, I'd have thought he'd have been considered enough of a stage favourite to get a camera on him.
Seeing him jump up the GC as expected is really nice, and to get into the top 15 is brilliant, I just don't expect him to stay there, on the other hand seeing Zardini drop out of the top 10 was disappointing but at least he has a chance to regain that on stage 20. And to jump up to 2nd in the teams ranking is really good and unexpected. Hopefully Chernobyl burn out their helpers quicker than we get through ours or we can get a successful break to steal that one away from them for some added bonus points and to help Zoidl keep his top 15 and Zardini jump into the top 10 as both of them are against their riders for the places.
Having 3 riders in the top 20 but none in the top 10 shows how similar some of our riders are and our strength in depth and hopefully having a 76 mountain rider not in GC contention means he will get in the break and be one of the strongest riders in it.

The team's diet of 'Aero' chocolate bars is clearly paying off! If you have a decent TT guy who can cope with the mountains/hills well, all it takes is some good legs on the day for a surprise win on a stage like that.
3rd in the TTT, with two ITT wins here, not bad for the team which was rated like 22/26 for TT's in one of the season previews!
So it is another win out of the blue, from an early time as well, but I ain't complaining! |

Disappointing TT for Barton, but still good to get some Top 10s and still be in the battle for the KOM |

Drama for Swedbank Gutted for their part, but I'm happy to see Berhane take honours. He's the strongest rider and I think he justly deserves to win.
Finally a stage win! Been a bit underwhelming last 2 weeks for us. It was sad to see Augustyn and Jacques JvR slip down the rankings so much. In J-L's defense though, he just had 1 bad day in the mountains and a bad mountain TT (that was TT stat biased). So, all in all, not the results we needed, but not all that bad. Now we just need Croket to take the final stage.
Thanks for a great race and great reporting tsmoha!

Not the very best stage. Only two peloton groups on such stage seems weird. Unlucky for Lövkvist to lose it here, but the strongest climber wins in the end is fair.
Pity for Chernobyl that their top guy had a bad day while Kononenko continued to impress. Losing a couple of points here but still a nice race for them. |

As a neutral, wow. What an exciting finish.
Happy to see Anton to finish on the podium.

Great ride from Samoilev. He's really had a great last week
Good to see Anacona trying, too bad he couldn't get rid of Antón though.
Would have been content to get a GC 4th before the race but naturally a bit disappointed now after how the first two weeks went. Especially since those of my riders that were challenging for a top 25 the first two weeks also collapsed towards the end.
Congrats to Eritel though I would really have loved to see our friends in Swedbank taking the win.

Would be happy for 5th in GC under normal circustances. However this race has pretty much sealed our trip to the CT so i can't feel great about it.

Shame for Swedbank, it sucks to lose the lead on the final mountain stage.
As for my team, again a good performance by Haga, and 4th/5th in the KoM is not bad, though I would've prefered one of them a bit higher

Pre-race I expected Anton to fight for 1-2 and get atleast a stage win, its safe to say this hasnt been the case. Podium in the end is decent but...Would really expect more than just 1 stage podium and barely reaching the final podium in the race. Hard to call the race a success then when the racedays could obviously been much better spent other places.
Glad those 4(3+ to Berhane/Anacona) minutes he lost on the first hilly stage weren't that decisive in the end though, as he didnt seem to have it in him this tour really.
Congrats to Berhane and Eritel though! Great race for them with Berhane looking like the strongest climber in the end!
Also a huge race for Swedbank, although slightly dissapointing losing the lead on the last day, it would be to good to be true seeing the Swede take it all the way. Still 2 stage wins for Lofkvist together with 2nd overall gotta suceed all pre-race expectations!

Before the race I would gladly take a 2nd place here but losing it on the final mountain stage with 23 seconds really hurts, though Berhane finally showed who´s the strongest in the mountains.
But we underperformed on the TTT or more true I send a too weak squad for that and Lövkvist on the last 45 km ITT "only" gained 26 seconds on Berhane.
Anyway still a good race for us with two stage wins, Lövkvist could keep the leaders jersey for severals stages also had the KoM jersey for a while and we could sneak in to top 10 in some other stages aswell.
But congrats to you SportingNonsense! And congrats to Miguel98 for all Cabreras stage wins! |

What a way to win/lose the race.
Congrats to SN for the win, and condolences to Viking for that loss. It was still a very good race for Swedbank though, and they should be faring well in the PCT rankings after a couple of nice races.
I am not really sure where this puts them in terms of points, but I guess promotion is still a bit too far ahead, looking at how some of the teams ahead have been doing elsewhere.
