[PT] Aker - MOT | 2024
kandesbunzler26
Another late congrats on the title! It's been the first season I've really followed the PT races, and seeing your jerseys in front in so many races it's no surprise you took the title in the end. And though Wisniowski was clearly the star of your campaign it's even more impressive how you managed to make the entire team score well!
It will be interesting to see how you act in transfers as it sounds like you want to change some things in your squad.

@jandal7: Thank you for your very nice words! Yeah, you haven't kept it secret at all. Remember very well how surprised I was when I first saw you "announcing" your love for Galta, quite some time after the Tour 2018, where you obviously got to see him a lot.

@Fabianski: Thank you a lot! Agree Amezawa really grew into his new abilities, making great use of that trained mountain stat in the final months of the season. Super happy to see it work out.

@kandesbunzler26: Thank you, those are kind words and greatly appreciated! Fully agree on what you're writing as well, at least between the lines, that those depth leader points behind Wisniowski, and on much lower wages, were key to the title.

Talent Development

Thank you to knockout and the Evonik - ELKO team for the layout on this post.

2023 will forever be a highlight in Aker - MOT's history, due to the Pro Tour title. Though, the team has always been valuing developing talents, so it's with great joy we see Anders Halland Johannessen, Magnus Bak Klaris and Joel Suter take their final steps development wise, as they used 2023 very well to max out.

Joel Suter (26)

2024796571697574716968747672694.10026

Joel was a rider we saw an opportunity to buy last transfer season, in a trade deal involving several other riders. We were back then very happy to get him on board, and it's great to see him make that final step regarding his development. IN the 2023 season, we raced almost all flat classics with a rouleur team, and we hope that Joel will be inspired to even chase own results in such races this season, having seen how it could be done by Kragh and Wisniowski. At least he should be one step closer to become a solid option in flat races for us.

Magnus Bak Klaris (28)

2024746270657171677465676666654.10028
Magnus was brought in last season to become a key part of our team for the cobblestones, as he should fill a support role well now that he has finished his development. We're excited to see how he can contribute to make our captains shine on the dirty cobbles.

Anders Halland Johannessen (25)
FLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRXPAge

202470787264728071636776768465 4.100 25
Anders has really made a step this winter, and his somewhat unique abilities and strengths make us very curious to see what he is able to do already this upcoming season. We think he now has all the tools needed to target stage wins in stage races, and especially Grand Tours, and for whoever has followed our team the last couple of seasons, will know that should suit our general ambitions and race tactics for the three weeks races.

Three very solid contributors right there, some of which I'm regretful to have missed out in the past and would not mind to see in yellow and carmine in the future.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Really regretting that I hadn't recognized the value of roulers back in the days when Suter was a neo-pro... I'm sure he wouldn't mind to come home some day Pfft

AHJ is also a really cool rider, as you say - in particular his crazy downhilling could be super useful, combined with fantastic resistance! I can definitely see him winning GT stages in the future Smile
And Bak Klaris should be useful, too - the question is just: who will be your 2024 cobbles captain(s) he should support?

Looking forward to the surprises you have prepared for this year's transfers, after getting rid of your entire TT department last year Wink

Love seeing Suter maxed. Wish I could have kept him back in the day, but at the time he was a casualty of other opportunities, unfortunately. Versatile beast. Love seeing Klaris finally maxed too.

Loving how AHJ has developed, reminds me a lot of Brenes from a few years ago, but quite a bit better. Should be a fun rider to have, and if he does get trained at some point would cause a lot of chaos in GT’s. Congrats again on a stellar season, hope that you can set yourself ip during transfers to back it up Smile

I wonder if Halland could be a GT winner with eg 83MO with that stat combo. He will be impossible to tire in the mountains with that DH, FIG and RES. Could be a very cool experiment. And relatively doable aswell.

@knockout: I am sure we will talk during transfers this season too! Though, seeing your renewals update, it doesn’t look like you’ve got much room to manouveur, making me think domestiques like these three riders might not be top of your list as transfers start.

@Fabianski: Definitely happy with Suter, hoping he has scoring potential for those flat races where his high flat and decent fighter abilities could see him place well before sprints and such, but also hopefully to place an attack once in a while. Agree on AHJ, definitely see him as a stage hunter, and I’m really curious to see how his descending and resistance come into play, hopefully in his favour! Regarding your question for Klaris, I guess this is the main reason why the availability post is still not posted, as obviously decisions need to be mase regarding our cobblers and leadership.

@bbl: Really hope there is room in the PT for a rouleur like Suter, eventhough the rouleurs ik general are becoming both stronger and more and more riders, making me unsure if there actually is scenarios where he goes for results.

@Eden95, SotD, DubbelDekker: Excited indeed to see AHJ maxed out! Must say I haven’t really thought much of him as a future training prospect due to his limited stamina and recovery. Guess it is good I get to see him this season as a stage hunter before I potentially need to decide on possible future training, as I really like his stats as they are, eventhough he probably needs a bit of MO training to become a great stage hunter in the PT.

Selling a declining Wisniowski is probably not so surprising, but a big move nonetheless. And there's one rider you'll definitely here about from me in transfers Smile

Looks like another major rebuild incoming Shock And of course some more Amezawa and Anderberg training I guess ^^
Guess I might be after at least one rider, but we'll see how things evolve on my end.

Good luck for transfers! Should be another busy period for you - and I guess there won't be many similarities anymore between your 2022 and your 2024 squad after two years of big trades Wink

Wisniowski leaving is going to be strange if it happens, but I can only imagine how much better that's gonna make Anderberg (presumably Smile) I also don't think i'd be able to picture Mohoric in another team's jersey, which will be also be a little jarring if he goes.

As knockout says, you're going to be one of the most popular managers in the game come Sunday. Interested to see who comes in to fill those gaps - guessing one at least will be via Mohoric judging by your post - and what you do with all that cash you're going to be bringing in Grin

@quadsas: That’s a lot of noise due to an announcement! Curious to see if your Balkan focus has been broadened, making you possibly interested in several of the listed riders.

@kandesbunzler26: Agree Wisniowski on the move is kind of a big thing. He should be absolute world class for another season, making him kind of a points guarantee as a leader. Excited to hear from you come Sunday regarding the rider you’re interested in!

@knockout: Haha, you can be sure I’ll find time for your creative ideas. And who knows, suddenly we can make something happen too Pfft

@Fabianski: Thank you for your wishes! You’ll be spot on regarding the change from 2022 to the 2024 team, definitely. Looking forward to see where selling Wisniowski takes me, as I’ll be open for different approaches and possible deals and FAs as the transfer season progresses. Definitely excited to see what the first few days bring, as it will help making decisions on where I want to take my team next.

@redordead: That would be a story, at least! Looking forward to talk and discuss with you when transfers start Smile

@ryant: This is starting to look like a big homecoming party! Suter will be for sale, as I susepct I’ve kind of got one too many top/decent rouleurs card to play for flat races, as Anderberg will hopefully also claim a role for such races, which is why Suter is available. Looking forward to talking with you!

@bbl: That’s obviously the plan, as it feels like he has the tools to do great on the cobbles. He lacks the sprint, but his flat, TT and energy stats makes him a worthy leader, I think/hope, especially with how the calendar is designed for cobblers. We might miss out on top one day classics results due to sprints in small groups, eventhough those also tends to be decided by energy left, but I like his TT to make him very valuable for races like Arenberg and ToNE.

@jandal: My hope and at least target for now, is to indeed do some kind of trade deal for Mohoric. Hoping to see some kind of hybrid rider join, to give Amezawa proper company as hybrid riders in the team Smile But we shall see, we both definitely know that transfers tend to be wild and unpredictable Grin Pfft
