If you take away the late crases this was an outstanding race. Congrats to Rin for his triumph with the everlasting Cunego.
And thanks for the phenomenal reports SN. It's a pleasure to read them, as always.
I feel the top10 was not out of our reach, but 11th will have to do. Perhaps things will be better for us in the Vuelta.
Cheers everyone. Thanks for making this so big

Thank you SN for the great (and great to read) reports.
Cunego won I guess that might be his last triumph at any GT seeing how close it was in the end (with the nationality and jersey bonus), so I think the GC+Points jersey will be his last hurrah.

Really enjoyed following along the Giro, so thanks to SN for the great and speedy reporting. Really exciting racing in virtually every hilly and mountain stage (in amongst the AI frustration/debate, this is at least one area that AI seems to have resolved to a great extent). Late crashes impacting some GC riders unfortunate, so commiserations to those impacted.
Roll on the Vuelta - armchair viewing of these GT's is both fun and instructive!

I can only quote the others, a great race to follow and thanks for the reports, SN!
A nice Grand Tour for us as well, Impey won a stage, which was our goal, and Antón did his best in the GC. Only bad thing was that I had hoped to see us more active, trying to join breakaways.
Big congratulations to Rin. I didn't think Cunego would be strong enough to win before the race, but he proved me wrong on the tough mountain stages. |

Two big gratz:
To Rin for the win! Great to see this half Aussie based team winning.
And to SN for the quality reports!

Great well written Giro massive thumbs up as said before following GT's are always fascinating in the man-game and real life.
Feel proud of the team fighting for Jose Alarcon and by far our best GC performance in our five GT's thus far. Unfortunately I picked win stages at all the GTs as a goal and we missed this (Prevar I think came closest).
Lotto took a bit of gamble splashing out on Cunego but ultimately it paid off with taking this Giro with the old man Cunego - always felt there is a slight age bias in the Man Game this proves once again that 33 year olds can still go often enough (and certain 34 year olds too!).
Initially I thought Pluchkin and Madrazo would maul Cunego in the mountains + TTs without any significant losses in the hills but the Italian turned back the clock at times with some majestic performances. Madrazo was particularly disappointing, lost as suddenly some riders were not so easy to be distanced and finishing below what you would think were lesser riders on many mountain stages.
Delighted to see Sella do well also - always good to see Red Bull alumni continuing to strut their stuff. No stage wins this time but still some magic performances.

Our first GT:
*All of our riders made it to Bergamo
*We wore the Point, Mountain and Leader jersey
*Trofimov won stage 10 and Kolesnikov stage 20
*Trofimov 5th overall and Tinkoff 3rd in team rankings!
Big thanks to SN, looking forward to the Vuelta!

This was an impressive ITT report. Really thrilling to follow even when my team did not play any role in that stage.
Thanks for those excellent reports, SN. Very nice to read!
Congrats to all those, who had their expectations fulfilled. I definitely had. Weak 2 first weeks but then an awesome third week.
Really a nice GT debut for my team with 2 stage wins, KoM jersey and 18th in the GC.
Gives me small hopes that Gomez Marchante will even improve in the Vuelta with hopefully a weaker field and National bonus. And he definitely is allowed to go for the KoM again.
Congrats to Rin for giving Cunego eventually the last chance to win the Giro and he really did impressively.
Also congrats to niconico. Pluchkin will surely be one the highest step on the GT podium one day. Winning the last stage is a nice bonus to his palmares.
Also congrats to Smowz, who proved the rumour wrong, that Alarcon is only a PCT climber.
Reguigui and Thurau must have done a huge job here. So very happy that I had at least those two, who obviously supported Gomez Marchante very nicely.
Bringing two sprinters here obviously was not the best idea but then again both aren`t maxed and needed the GT experience. Biggest disappointment was Ballan, who showed nothing and then abandoned. Not helping him as he needs to fight for a new contract I guess.

A fantastic Giro for the neutral observer. Bit disappointed to see nothing from my loaned out riders but their time will come.
Incredible pace and quality as ever SN. Thanks to you and all the reporters for the current pace |

Prio and ING really struggle and are top favourites for relegation at the moment I guess.
Santander will need better Vuelta and Tour. Otherwise this year might be proving difficult when being only GT focussed.
Then it`s really close to almost the top5.
I hope that my team keeps scoring here and there with Keizer just having started the season and LLS still having half his race days left. GM also with lots of races left, while Vanmarcke & Co. need to deliver in the late Cobbles. Then I can indeed see me surviving the PT. |

Those Gomez Marchante points though...
170 points for VDB...that's about what 4th in California/insert random week long stage race would have given him. Not to criticise the decision or wish BPost any bad luck at all, but at least it's kinda reassuring I did not relegate because of my season planning for him.
Did I miss what Luis Afonso did??
Santander's Vuelta will already be make or break for their PT hopes (if mb even returns)...
Apart from Prio and ING who always heavily relied on their star leaders to shine when they eventually will race, it looks really tight all the way to possibly Aker.

Nah. You just relegated to bring in Herklotz and develop him quicker. |

WTF
José Angel Gomez Marchante | Rothaus - Aegon | 349 | Jose Alarcon | Simply Red Bull | 348 |
No way Jose Let's see if Alar can outscore GM at the Vuelta - he better outscore that shyte there.
Madrazo just scoring 489 though is a huge problem for Santander - that said if mb is not returning I guess it is whatever. It is fascinating to see Pokerstars and Good Energy at the top - two teams who I cannot believe have really super teams for the GT's so I expect things to tighten up as the season continues.
Festina would surely have been looking so string had Ricco completed with Spilak still to start pillaging the summer plunder. (Let me say please no crashes in the Tour of him!)
