That was only to prevent riders that had a ban from being re-signed from FA too early or stop them racing until their ban was over if they already had a team. And it was only in user DB's and not original game.
If people are so keen on this feature, it should be moddable within the database files, but not part of the vanilla game, even in the options, it could cause unnecessary trouble.

I think Wilier is talking about a feature of Daily's DB in PCM09/10, I think, which was a random injury labelled 'doping suspension'.

Yeah, leats make it real and pretend there is no doping, or we will have troubles. That would be very realistic, as that is what 90% of people around sports do.
Cant see any troubles with that...

No matter how realistic doping is, it still have several repucussions for the game to include it:
- Say goodbye to any license for the next 10 games in the franchise.
- The main gameplay effect it would have is to randomly remove riders for several seasons. For anyone against doping that would just be like a slap in the face like Operation Puerto IRL. Personally my career would be ruined if my captain gets taken for doping 2 days before TDF. Realistic? certainly, frustrating? VERY.
I am aware that injuries basicly runs the same way but theres a clear difference between loosing a rider for 6 weeks and getting them ready for Vuelta than loosing them for 2 years.
We are building a game and any features that does nothing but add frustration to the game and fans of cycling should at very least be optional if included at all
And as a few already has pointed out people should remember what builds the core manager experience and all the fun we expect from that:
- Sponsor negotiations and satisfaction
- Profesionel Staff that can assist your riders
- Experienced Sport directors that can handle your team when you are not there
- Rider Transfers
- 3D racing
and much more.
Those are the elements that ensure everyone is having a great experience which is why their implementation remains our main focus

I was wondering, are you planning to make it possible for us to see a riders' exact stats when he is riding for another team, or will it require scouting, like in FIFA, for example?
Another thing that I've been thinking about is the importance of creating a realistic world within the game:
-The media follows up on races, on decisions you make etc.
-Responses given to journalists can strengthen/weaken sponsor/rider satisfaction.
-Articles about up and coming stars, also the generated ones later on in the game. That way they feel more like people, and not just bits of data in a game.
I also thought it would be awesome if you could make it possible to have different roles on the team. For example, at the beginning of your career you could be a sports director, and you would work only with the riders. Then at some point you could be offered a manager spot on a smaller team, and then you could build that team up.
Just thoughts, but I think the idea of not having total control but having to do what others tell you sometimes and make the best of that would be a lot of fun. That would also make a getting a job as manager very satisfying, since you have to work hard to get it. |

Thats some very solid suggetions right there
The simplified role on the team could be implemented in the Career Light mode as a way to get new players asustomed to being a manager. I doubt we would force everyone to work their way up to being a manager since this game is 100% focused on being a manager and that experience.
The media will play a much larger role in this game than what you are used to from PCM. Players will have to react constantly to underwhelming results placing them in a tough spot where someone has to take the blame leading to scenarios like:
- Do you take the blame yourself and loose sponsor confidence?
- Do you blame a star rider who will then hate you for it?
- Do you blame the team as a whole and see that negatively affect the morale of the entire team?
Theres a lot of consequences both good and bad and i expect the newspaper to be so interesting that the player will drop by that section every day in the game
A lot more details to share when the final implementation of the media is complete. Currently i think stats will be visible, might include a checkbox to hide them if the player desires to do so.

If you do go through with the earlier idea of devlopment teams for world tour squads, and the associated benefits you'd get from having one if you are playing as a WT team, would the Development team itself be playable? that could be interesting to play as one, with some of the decisions being made by the WT team, or at the least having some riders signed for you by them when they might not fit with the rest of the squad you are building.

I'd envision it as working something similar to managing a B team in Spain on football manager, so finances aren't necessarily controlled by you, at least not fully,
e.g. you can't release any riders the main team directs your way, not sure how finances would work, whether they would be seperate to the main teams or if they dictate your budget to an extent.
I'd imagine you'd have to rely on their scouts, though you'd probably have the rest of the staff seperate, which would ensure that the development sides targetted regions the main team's sponsors were after.

If we find the time i would be happy to implement something like that could be an interesting and possibly challenging experience to be a "enslaved" team where you are not fully in charge.

I've just read the whole thread, and something came up in my mind when you guys talked about doping.
I don't think it should directly be in the game either, but what about making an injury which last for 2 years? That could be an oppurtunity. |

Exactly! The database will be very mod friendly with tons of customization options. The DB maker will be able to adjust the game and even include what could work as a doping feature

Maybe your team could make this injury so you get better stats in the start of the injury (they just taked dope) and then they get "caught", and they can't take place in races and their stats'll be normal again.
Another idea came up in my mind. For each day a rider is injured he looses 0,1 from all stats which would be realistic. I mean, it's realistic that a rider become worse when he's injured. But when he has recovered he get 0,1 to every stat, because he's started to train again.

For me, it can be a good idea the 1:1 scale... |

I'd would require a ton of developers to do stages that are 10 times bigger than PCM Cyanide can hardly pull off 1:10 so dont expect 3 guys to do 10 times their work.

Are you kidding me? Even the console game is not that ridiculous...that would be a serious pain to play.
For the real experience just go outside and ride a real bike, that's a 1:1 scale I tell ya.

Allright guys this ends our suggestion gathering, thank you very much for contributing
They will now be processed and used appropriatly when creating the game itself. For the next several months we will be busy coding and building the game so it will probably be a while before you hear or see more of the game. Stay tuned.
we will still be around to answer questions and hot topics.
Best regards.

I had one idea I forgot to post: multiple stages of a stage race per day possible, like in the Crit. Int. or De Panne. Sorry for me posting that a little late.

Small feature, i promise to include that one
Cyanide were stupid when they removed half stages.
