Epic stage and epic report, whoah!
Happy for Wikipedia, their team looks pretty much like I want mine to look as well.
Plus, Ricco taking less than expected out of this race can only help us to be honest.
Three stage wins to get second in the Points classification now, please.

Great report, thanks SN. Phinney seems invincible but the Zoncolan will be his toughest task yet. Should be an Epic battle. |

Great stage, great report.
Phinney is so strong, its really hard to see Madrazo besting him on the Zoncolan but certainly it is possible.

I'll attempt to restrain myself
What a way to take our first Grand Tour win, an epic ride on the Gavia by Sella. He did exactly what I was hoping he was going to do for the past week of this race after falling so far down on GC thanks to the TT and some weak early tour positioning.
The whole Sella venture feels vindicated just for that one moment of him turning back the clock and adding another memorable mountains victory to his palmares. A word for Stubbe who did some nice bit of teamwork for Sella there.
One of those slow reads on the report for me every screen I was dreading the pull back from the repeated favourite attacks. Thanks SN a lot for the pace of this Giro and some great reports, enjoying the drama.
What now do I dare dream of Zoncalon? Maybe I'll just set my sights on a successful Sulzberger breakaway first

Don't think gap's will happen in Zoncolan. Phinney should win the Giro. |

Lucky that Trofimov catched the Kohl group, but it wont take much now for him to drop out of the top 10. Need the AI to do some crazy stuff on the Zoncolan.

Congratulations to Smowz! Big win
And thanks for a brilliant report, SN.
That wasn't great by Spilak, but it was just enough
Hopefully he can be a bit better on Zoncolan, as Nibali might prove dangerous for third. The fact that Madrazo actually pulled a gap on Gavia proves he's capable of the same on Zoncolan. Question is if he can make it big enough. I doubt it, but we shall see. |

Phinney seriously dropped Nibali on the climb? Nibali is turning out to be a useless money pit, how ridiculous. We still haven't won a race this year, I guess we'll be looking elsewhere than the Giro.
Thrilled to see Sella win though, that was really great. Smowz deserves it and Sella has been one of the main characters in the Giro for a long time.

Fothen really doesn't look strong on these mountainstages. Im lucky that there are very limited gaps. Sella is back into the game making another rider to worry about. I have to hope for a dull finale to keep 5th, as both Ricco and Sella seems stronger, and more eager. Here's to hoping for the recuperation stat to be effective.

The Zoncolan will be epic. Plenty of changes that can still be made in the gc.

This will certainly go down as one of the best stages of the entire season. A really daring attack that recovers a decent GC placing and gets a memorably stage win. And the report really did it justice.

The Phinney vs Madrazo battle is amazing to watch, I can't wait to see the final outcome after the Zoncolan stage has been completed! Thanks for the great reports SN, they are making a fantastic race even better

As I anticipated, the MTT did create huge gaps. Put Madrazo in the perfect position to win the race, but he threw his chances away by letting Phinney back on the Gavia. Will take a miracle for him to win this the way it currently looks.
And as already said, stage 17 was pretty epic. Well deserved success for Sella in an otherwise tough race. Really happy for you, Smowz.
Henao also keeps surprising me. I know he's good, but I didn't expect him to outclimb the likes of Ricco and Nibali. Phinney's also going from strength to strength. Really proved me wrong in the battle against Madrazo.

I can't believe this stupid ridiculous shit we and Vesuvio are doing in recent flat stages.
It worked out twice, but that was down to the small breaks.
How anyone can believe to safely take 7 minutes out of 6 men in 30k is beyond my mind.
Fuck man, there are 16 guys being here for nothing else but to secure a mass sprint, and working hard for 20k more isn't relevant after 3 weeks, so get your shit together you dumb idiots!

  IT'S PARTY TIME
Free Red Bull cans for all, especially our friends at Vesuvio, Pokerstars and Puma for kindly screwing up the catch and a whole case for Tolleson having won a stage kindly agreeing to lead Viviani out.
Viviani did a great job of not panicking when the Cisco rider broke clear near the end and finding Tolleson's wheel. That felt like I was sort of remotely controlling the guy. Brilliant career moment for him. Heh we can forget Van Heerdan who actually did the only thing he could sprinting when the wheels fell of the Pokerstars wagon.
I imagine cio is going hit the roof when he sees this, Heineken, Bacardi and B and O picking up cheap placing points and the possibility of Bennati not even making 3rd on the points comp (cannot see him beating Swift to second now). Oh I see he has already

It was a nice attempt by Ulissi. Next season I really need to monitor the races I put a sucky sprinter in, as I would have been much better of by joining the BotD.
Fothen safe in the pack here, and luckily no time gaps, and also Henao made it back.
