Santambrogio and Kwiatkowski awesome though!
What did you expect if I can ask ?
If there was one person to beat Froome it was Conta, he tried but failed. This outcome was expected with the team plus Froome being in great form.
Yes "great form" |

Did you expect him to fight for the win?
He probably hasn't even started the final climb yet, if he's still in the race

Translation -> I prefer sprint stages because there are Germans who can realistically win them.
Easy to conclude that, but I think my point stands from an unbiased view as well.
Seriously, who likes this stuff? It's not about what will happen, it's only about when.

Looks like someone needs the Sky Doping Thread...
Riders with strong teams have always used the teams like this. That including Contador

Action in sprint stages last 5 mnutes at best. We've had mountain stages with over 1 hour of action in the last years. So no.

Tour 2012 repeat for SKY.Killing their rivals slowly, but one thing I dont understand is y attack Froome so early,y not play the waiting game n let him make the first move.Do d so called big favs like Berti,Purito, etc dont have the stamina to keep up with sky riders. |

Let's take a point here. 2012: Giro and Vuelta good, boring Tour because, well, on Tour there was a Sky train, on Giro and Vuelta not. This is why people complain. We don't want to see trains going up a mountain and attack in the last km, like Froome did today. |

Actually I quite enjoyed the stage. It had a certain suspense to see whether Contador or Nibali could defeat the Sky train, I don't think that their struggle and failure was predetermined. Plus, seeing Kwiatkowski and Santambrogio up there was great, too (btw I think it is a bit schizophrenic to celebrate them and at the same time accuse Sky of doping).

Sure there are exceptions and a great mountain stage is uncontested in excitement and action, but it's about 1 in 5 stages, with 4 disappointing.
(talking about those with Sky favourites for sure)
At least I get what I expect in the flat ones, besides that breakaway win every now and then.

You might say that
Just getting a bit tired of people hating on Sky for doing it, when they really act no different than the rest of the peloton would (if they were strong enough).
How they got so strong is another matter (which I also is very much the same for the other teams).
Basically I'm agreeing with Cunego in his last remark...

I know you have love for boring styles in you.
This is unfortunetely the sign of things to come in July, i hope someone can challenge that trains, or they will guide Froome to last few kilometres and he will destroy the rest also in TT. Really entertaining...
Nice to see Kreuziger on 10th, he was riding his own decent pace up the climb after being cooked. He can be strong rider for Contador hopefully.
I am already looking forward to tommorow. Is Lanciano fine for riding? I cant wait if Sagan will survive the stage.

Very hard pace by the very strong Sky team. Of course Cataldo, Uran and Henao are very strong climbers all capable of GT top tens. It does seem strange to see 4 sky men with six or seven others - but for me they are all credible riders up there.
They seemed to have a formula to deal with Contador, it is the second time we've seen this on a key mountain stage. Froome counter-attacking to take time out of Contador after using a super-domestique to reel him in.
Kwiatkowski is a pretty big shock, looking at Cq ranking his best result I can see is that 3rd in Poland last year behind Moser and Henao. But this was a tougher climb than anything there. Looks like a real good Polish stage racer, gutsy ride.
Like Avin, I'm also looking forward to tomorrows monster stage too. I did enjoy that mountain climb, though the Oman ones were better this possibly holds more weight.

i had no idea kwiatowski could climb this sort of distance and altitude. nice to see poels back to fitness, too. as for the rest, it's a matter for another topic, but it's starting to challenge all limits of shamelessness. |
