Not exactly news, but I thought of doing the maths to settle an argument I was having with someone and I found something interesting.
I mean this solely as a "what a great job Renshaw does"
Cavendish's winning percentage in bunch sprints in which he is there to contest them
With Renshaw 72,4%
Without Renshaw 57,6%
This, despite the fact that Renshaw is with Cavendish mostly only in races where the competition is a lot better.
Feel free to do the same math for Griepel or Hushovd. I'm sure the results will be very similar.

Surely theres other factors to consider aswell? I.e. Renshaw will lead out Cavendish at the Tour (DQ discounted) where Cavendish tends to be at his most prolific - but its also the case that the Tour is Cavendish' main goal of the season, so he is in top form there.

It's quite hard to establish a correlation just as that. As Sporting said, the winning percentage by itself doesn't mean all. Renshaw wasn't with Cavendish during his preparation races at the beginning of the season, when Cavendish didn't win a lot. And at the end of the Tour, Cavendish won the sprints without him anyways. That doesn't mean that he isn't helpful, of course. His leadout is brilliant and Cavendish victories are easier with him. But the winning percentage doesn't work well to conclude that, because Cavendish at peak form wins most of the sprints in any case.

E_Hagen kicks off his return with the news that plans for a new Norwegian midnight sun stage race next year. That would be great!

Thanks, even though i hoped that they had described the stages instead
As far as I've read over the past weeks, it's rumoured there won't be much climbing compared to usual and there will be a 44km ITT on stage 6.
That's the first long flat ITT at Paris-Nice since 1968
