Who's CAS? Or is doping so bad that the Court of Arbitration for Sport managed 5th place?

Anyone watching P-T? Between the bad resolution and the Flemish commentators, I can't tell if it's 12k or 52k to go. The latter would make more sense for a 10am finish (my time), but I saw a translated live updated feed that made it seem like 12k was right...

EDIT: Watching the racing, I think 10k is right. It's tense. About 25 riders (including GvA and Bourannhi, or however you spell it) have split the field.

Yep, just dropped down to 9.9. This looks like it'll be a good finish, do recommend. https://sports-liv...l/ch-6.php

The break has it, i bet on Terpstra. Nice attack from Degenkolb, too bad it´s only for 4th place.

1. Marcato
2. TSV rider
3. Terpstra
4. Degenkolb

That was almost really stupid. Degenkolb was only a couple lengths back when they finally launched. Great move from him to ride across the gap, even if the front three were playing cat and mouse.

For those interested, a 8 or so man break was about 15" out with 10km left, when the pack split under BMC's chase. This led to a little looking around in the peloton, and Marcato, De Vrees (or whatever) and Terpstra jumped out of the break, and quickly doubled the gap. Blythe went and got nowhere, and then Orica drilled it over the final climb, with about ten riders splitting away, trying to nail back the half minute to the front three. Even with Degenkolb gaining a helper out of the remnants of the break they couldn't manage it, and Degenkolb jumped with 3km left in a last ditch attempt. The front three started looking around when Marcato went to the front with 800m to go, and Degenkolb was almost on them with around 300m when Terpstra was forced to jump. Marcato and the TSV rider came around, and Marcato held him off.

Great finish.

De Vreese was second. Finally Marcato!

If Terpstra hadn't launched his sprint way too early, Degenkolb would have caught them. That would've been hilarious. Nicely played by Marcato, good to see him get a win.

Damned, I really hoped Degenkolb would have made it.
I like sprinters who have guts to escape when they understand it's the best way for them to win/get a result. Smile
With ear-speakers that'd never have worked (of course that didn't work today either).

Wait, there were no race radios today? Awesome. That must've certainly played a role in both the Degenkolb move almost working and the break staying away.

kumazan
I think it's been already the 2nd season with no radios in all but WT races.

Aquarius
From footage I didn't see a rider with a race radio, and, after checking out, it's confirmed that only World Tour races still have them.
