I wasn't the biggest fan of Sagan and this races didn't helped to become a fan. I just hate it when 1 rider can do everything from sprinting to climbing
Winners never quit, quitters never win.
It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

I get what you mean, but you have to respect his abilities, it's just amazing how he climbed today aswell, so easy even when TVG pushed really hard he was at ease, in the sprint he is almost unbeatable aswell! |

I had some doubts if Sagan's climbing was strong enough to win Lombardy but he proved me wrong today. He should normally become the first rider in a very long time to win all 5 monuments (has this actually been done before?)

In one year? No, never, and it'll never happen, probably
In total? Yes, Merckx and maybe someone else Probably Van Looy or De Vlaeminck.

By the way guys, Dombrowski wasn't in the front group, bit of a surprise in my opinion!
And Sky now revealed the reason for that on their facebook: turns out he crashed 2 times |

Merckx, De Vlaeminck and Van Looy is the correct answer.
Would be a larger group but Coppi didn't like to race in belgium (the country, nothing to do with the terrain itself) and Hinault hated the cobbles so didn't race Flanders.

Though it has to be said, the monuments were different in those days. LBL wasn't with as many hills as now, Ronde was flatter... But an amazing accomplishment nevertheless! |

Sagan is not only a sprinter, cobbler, prologuer, and ardennes rider. Now he can climb better than climbers?
And fricking hesjedal.

Ok, this is gonna be harsh. But I hope Ryder is out of the tour now.
Cos I really didnt like him stealing Dan Martins GC slot because he sucked at the Giro. Dan earned his slot.
Sagan is Sagan. Amazing to watch, which is the only reason his not at hated as Froome XD.
EDIT: On the descending debate.
IMO. Descents are great in dry. I have no problem with dry descents as it is purely skill. There is a risk element, but the speed gain is minor in dry conditions between two skilled descenders.
Its the wet ones I have major issues with because it is so horrifically dangerous and it whilst it is an extreme skill there is also risk because you have to guess on grip and its impossible to always get that perfect. Nibali crashed on a wet descent. Senna crashed in the wet in F1 sometimes. With F1 now, if you lose it in the wet you just crash and get out.
Crash in the wet on a decsent in cycling and you could be dead. You should win bike races because you pushed it to your limit. Not because you were more willing to literally die to win. Metaphorically, yes, literally, no.

Ryder wa ssick with an upper respiratory infection. that's why he sucked. Not his fault.
And Dan isn't a GC guy. More for stages and KOM.

He may be quality climber, but he's not a GC rider in a GT such as Tour yet. Even Vaughters said he lacks the recovery needed to be a contender yet.
Last year I said his goal would be a stage and KoM, this year I will say the same, but hopefully he may have more success with that than last year.

Yes. This year I can actually see him doing much better. If he can work on recovery than a GT with light TTing could be possible in the future. But nowt until then.

I think his recovery is much better. He totally killed himself for that stage in Catalunya and still survived to win the whole thing. And got into the pretty small lead group the following day iirc? Not a slow climb dropped group but a punchy attackish one.
If i remember that rightly, think that shows his definately recovering well.
I just think its bad on the guy. They said way back then that due to the results he got he would lead at tour. Then pow, Ryder bombs at Giro and Dan aint leader no more. |

I thought Talansky was GC leader at Garmin and Martin got a free role.
Hesjedal should focus at Vuelta and worlds now. |

I always hate it when riders ride away in the descend though, annoying..
What? Why?
I think it's a better accomplishment when you drop someone on a mountain by showing you're stronger. In the descend it's just who is willing to take extreme risks and not really a show of being better than your opponents. Also I must add, that due to Scarponi's fall they lost the most time unfortunately.
Focus on training instead of posting messages on internet forums Andy while riding in Switzerland, Andy. |

Doesn't matter, the Betancur case is more recent
Also, amazing ride by Dombrowski beating the likes of TVG and ... Kelderman!
But the Zabel case is more famous.
Can someone explain me what this is about?? |
